Wednesday Report
Europe:
Back down to C/S after a couple of bump-infested Daily Races. Barely worth the effort.
Race 1: Door 13, qualified 13th, finished 11th for 27 points. (Clean)
Race 2: Door 13, qualified 16th, finished 16th for 17 points.
Race 3: Door 13, qualified 8th, finished 6th for 28 points.
Just couldn't do anything useful with the BMW.
USA:
Race 1: One and done again here!
Ironically (or appropriately) enough, on the day that the new Bond film's release was postponed, I qualified the only Ferrari (Door 3, in its No Time to Die livery) on Pole, in front of a Cayman, M4, Mustang, 2 RC Fs... with a gap of 0.207s after having my first flying lap ruined by P3 deciding to ghost on the racing line.
P1. Clean start on Softs and made it through Turn 1 without issue. The Porsche and BMW stayed on my tail, but I was slowly pulling away. I hate racing in the lead though, as I'm always wondering what will happen to screw up my race! Things got spicy on lap 5 as the Porsche pulled alongside but wisely braked as I turned in for the first corner as I was still more than half a car length in front. That allowed the BMW to take P2, but with a 1s penalty, so their positions swapped back. The Porsche closed back to me by Lap 9 and I decided that was the time to change to Hards and fuel, exiting in
P5. A car pitted , so I was
P4 on Lap 10. The Porsche came in on Lap 12 (S to M) and I passed a McLaren into Turn 1 to reach
P2, lapping P20 shortly after. The Porsche also passed the McLaren. In came the BMW on Lap 16 (M to S) to put me back in
P1.
Again, the Porsche drew alongside exiting Turn 1, but this time we made it through that and turn 2 side by side and I lost the lead for a split second. I was pulling away by Lap 24 when the Porsche pitted again (M to S), exiting in third. I lapped P15 on Lap 25, with a 5 second lead. Didn't stop me feeling nervous though! Ithen lapped P14 on the penultimate lap before winning by 6 seconds. My right front tyre in particlar was goosed - halfway in the red - which made corneing a delicate process toward race's end!
Pole Position, Clean Race and the Win for a whole 69 points, but my highest of the season. Three figure points are a pipe dream for me...
The best of the action occurs from the 12:30 mark (Lap 15 onwards).
