Nations
I was feeling good about this race, but after bottling both my qualifying laps I started 14th, and even with the bottled first quali lap I was still only 0.2s slower than my fastest time in lobby practices, so I didn't feel too good about it.

I started on Hards and after surviving T1 and some shunts going into the hairpin, the person in front of me going into 130R spins and I hit them, getting me a 2s penalty. I was originally going to do a 1 stop, but with the penalty I decided to switch to a 2 stop since I'd need as much pace and I was already at the back of the field anyways. It seemed to pay off as I was able to get back into 8th place, and I was so much faster than other people on hards/worn mediums. One thing of note was I had a coming-together with someone at the hairpin- I haven't looked at the replay yet but from memory it seemed like a racing incident, I braked a little too-late and he turned in a little too much, but I got the classic post-race chewing out and "Reported" messages sent in the lobby since he felt I purposefully shoved him out of the way.

One and done.

Manufacturers
Finally, a good race. @Jwptexas was in my race and took pole. I was actually running purple for one lap but only got 4th, and it was a mostly uneventful race for me. The main "fun" was when the NSX ahead had a few bad corners and I almost passed them going into T13, but couldn't allowing the person behind to catch up and pass me coming into Les Combs on the next lap, only for me to forget about the power of the s u c c coming into Pouhon and me punting him. For once the penalty system actually worked, and I got a 2s penalty. I was slowing down for him but since I had the penalty and he recovered to be within 2s of me, I kept going and he passed me while I served my penalty. And then from there it was cruising home to 5th place. Meanwhile, @Jwptexas got the victory, congratulations! I've never seen such field spread before though, I was 12s behind in 5th, but the group behind us (4th-6th) was another 10 or so seconds behind, and last place was over a minute behind.

Wet races seem fun. One and done as well.

Time to participate in the Bug-Off in Animal Crossing!

Just checked my stats: think i am pretty even regarding qualifying and the final result in the FIA races:

Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.

Qualified P9. Solid.
Didn’t realize it was a standing start. Bonus!
So took advantage of a false start and was P7 before the first corner. Was stuck there most of the first stint until a few guys pitted on lap 7. Able to take advantage of that as I pitted from 5th back onto mediums. Then a penalty and a great overtake upped me into a podium position. But that’s where it all went to naught. Didn’t realize the guys around me where on a one stop race. So after my stop for hards, I was back to 5th. Which is more than a good race. Solid racing from my Manufacturers Cup Ferrari foe, and an appearance (he got involved in the mess of mid pack racing) from @Trone_Colby to make my one and done weekend complete.

Good racing with you. As for other folks, tsk tsk.

I started P10. Did a good take off on the grid but had to back out a bit because I was on the inside of a 3 wide T1.

Lap two, had issues with folks in degner 2. I was P12 (after getting hit at the chicane to lose positions). I was in a train of P8-13. P8 brakes, P9 didn’t react and hit him then he brakes, P10 hits, saves it as p11 hits p10. I hit P11 out. P13 squeezes in bit scrapes my right. P10, P13 and I gets penalties.

Lap 5 going the chicane, I was behind P10 and 11 battling. 10 Makes it through first but 11 had a better exit because 10 didn’t go wide enough. That opened the door for me to squeeze in clean. I did except now p11 turned into me. I don’t know id he didn’t see me but it was open enough to go through. What did this silly game do? Give me a 2 second penalty! I did hit him out of frustration but didn’t ruin his race.

After through all that I managed to finish 9th although it should have been higher.

Just set a time in the R33(4:31.030). I believe the R33, R34 and Huayra can beat the 458. If players join up with another Skyline or Huayra, their theoretical max speed in top gear, is higher(481-491km/h) than the 458(474km/h).

458 has a good final drive for acceleration. However, I ran all cars to the 8000m sign. Huayra, SLS and MP4-12C, drop below 410km/h at that point. Both Skylines(and all the other cars) cross at 410km/h. I feel the underdogs can do it.

The R33 tops out at 407km/h on the way back through the tunnel.

Edit: Ran the R34( 406km/h. 4:32.298).

I'll probably go with the R33 to harass all the supercars.:)

THank the heavens. I was gonna get ready to fail have a go at tuning them.

Also gonna have to make a time trial only alt account so I don't have to wait 19 hours for the new races to pop up over here. :ouch:

Must be how we pulled away so much from your group. Had like a 7 second gap to 8th just before people started pitting.

I watched the guy behind me get smacked by the guy behind him in the hairpin to get a penalty.

Looks like tuning is on.

Edit: apparently it's not, my bad.
It’s off. There’s no BOP though
Everything should be pre-set. From what PD said in the event announcement, the cars will be tuned, but the tuning is locked; I haven't checked to see if the vehicle tune differs from stock though.

Well I do feel like an idiot and karma is such a bitch...

Manu race - Alfa Romeo

One of the few races that I am doing after the Alfa nerf. Qualified 3rd, made short work of the R8 in front and then it was a battle with the tarmac. No big mistakes but was not able to close the 2s gap to the 911 that was leading the race - P2 and 191p

Nations 2nd slot

Put my blue and yellow Scirocco on pole with a 2.07.8. Lost the leading position at start, but was able to keep close. In lap 2 on the start straight a driver from Saudi Arabia put his car on the inside, but we play chicken and he brakes earlier so I keep my position. Got the leading place 1 lap later when the guy in front got a 1.5s penalty at the final chicane. From there on it should be easy, me leading and the Arabian driver behind me. He is a bit faster so I want to let him in front at the hairpin braking zone. He was angry for the failed overtake and he sideswipe me sending me shadow land and giving me 3s penalty. I spend the remaining laps trying to catch up with him and I glimpse him again bumping with other 2 cars. I decide to make him regret his moves and punt him twice, ruining his race. We finish P14 and P16 and I was so angry...

...and then I watch the replay. He was coming faster in the hairpin and he tried to avoid hitting me, but he touched the grass during braking and slided into me. Then he let me go, but I served my penalty and he got in front. Then with the other cars he was the victim, being shoved several times and tried to just keep his car on the track. I felt like an idiot - punted him for nothing, wrote him afterwards in PSN and apologized but the race was ruined anyway. Really sorry again if you are reading here.

My SR dropped to 82 so to get good points I needed to improve it. Did a daily C, but was able to raise it just to 86 cause a Spanyard with a Porsche lost control in front of me and I couldn't avoid the contact. Tried another Daily A in the Mini and was going good until lap5 when guy in front slides the car, catches it and slides it again just as I was passing, getting into me and giving me a 1s penalty and dropping my SR to 80.

3rd slot was for SR recover, started 3rd and finished 4th in.

Last slot - messed up quali, only did an 08.4 but still good enough for 4th on the grid. Start is without drama, just staying out of trouble, nowhere to pass. At the hairpin(lap1) I am divebombed and sent outside the track, rejoin in 13th and start working back. Chaos everywhere, I am getting to 6th place again, got a good exit from t1 and try a move on the outside on the Bulgarian in 5th - just to be sideswiped and sent to shadow realm again. I rejoin in 13th again, change to hards and put some decent laps. Climbed up to 8th, the drivers in front are battling, somebody does a divebomb in the hairpin and breaks the line of 3 cars in front - the only way to go for me is the inside but during acceleration I trade paint with the Swiss in 7th and overtake him. The 1 lap later, the driver in 6th wipes out the car in front at spoon and I am in 5th. However my line is not the best, left inside exposed and the Swiss get me out of the way sending me in the grass. Till 130R I got to P9 and in the last lap car behind catches up and I don't defend at all as I don't want to risk another trip in the grass. P10, only 122 points, not enough to improve my points although my pace here was very strong and could have got at least 180-190p if we would have had a clean race.

I was in that slot and was right behind you when it happened, looked like just that. A late braking and a coming together, don't know if he seen you coming but it looked like he could have left space. It didn't help him that I was faster and he had to battle with me letting you drive away. I made my usual mistake on 130R and let him drive away :boggled:

Got punted at the hairpin lap one, was a classic 2 car plant by the same guy who did the exact same thing at last weeks nations. I'll get a clip up soon, same guy 3 places back and I get taken out both times. Must be 3 or 4 races he's ruined of mine this season and I don't believe any of the incidents were malicious or intentional, I'm just suffering from his poor driving!

As promised, @Master Weasel was in the same incident below.

1st Nations slot: started and finished 8th after failing to get a mistake-free lap in qualifying. Did a 2-stop, which appeared to break even with the 1 stop strategy.

1st Manufacturers: Qualified 14th and finished 13th in a race I knew I shouldn't have even bothered with.

2nd Nations: Put the car on pole then jumped the start because I'm a 🤬🤬 idiot :banghead:. Fell to 7th before Turn 1and decided to try the 2-stop again. Once again it made no difference, and I'd gotten up to 5th before parking it to let everyone else go by at the finish line since I'd already thrown away a win or 2nd place finish. I finished 14th because I had to get moving before the game disqualified me. Lost 1000 DR because of that but I hate finishing races that I've thrown away on my own. I would've just quit if I didn't think I had a chance of recovering a decent finish at first.

Manu Race:

Door #4
Quali #3
Finish #4

Points +67
Dr +1000

Pulled away at the start but had a slow lap 5 and 6. Got passed by 2 cars on lap 7 after a small bump.

Tried getting back 3rd place on last lap but finished 4th with a shocking no-stopper!

Fun wet race. :D

I thankfully got Nations out of the way in the first slot. Qualified 13th and had a chaotic first lap:

It was unfortunate that the two drivers that hit me in the second incident got penalties but it just couldn't be helped. I went with a 7H/6M strategy and gained some positions along the way thanks to A) one driver taking out another on lap 8 at the Spoon Curve and the rammer serving a 2 second penalty on the following lap and B) overtaking drivers that were running the hard tires or had to go pit. I'm also surprised I got a clean race achievement.

First attempt at Manufactures was just a complete disaster. Had what felt like a good qualifying lap going where I was drafting a Porsche until the bus stop chicane, where I spun out. What made this infuriating was that this part of the track never gave me trouble until this moment where it mattered most. Started 18th with #19 on the door. I finished 19th. My very long 99 SR streak also came to an end in this race after I braked a little too late coming into Les Combes and accidentally hit an Lancer Evo driver.

Just did 2nd Nations slot, shared lobby with @wedjim and @GTWolverine, I was door 20.

Poor qualy, P8. Laptime from a few minutes earlier in a lobby would have been P2. Decent start, but on lap 1, a guy hit me under braking into Degnar 2. I had to really slam the brakes to avoid ending in the gravel/wall. Of course, he used my "bad exit" to make a move into the hairpin, and another guy bump-passed me too. Great driving... :banghead:

Did a 1-stopper, pitted lap 6 as I had worn out my mediums a bit more than in the test before. Remained close to the two guys that hit me on lap 1 all race, but never close enough to make a move unfortunately.

Seemed it was going to be P8, but found @GTWolverine parked in the final corner, so ended up finishing 7th, 158 points. Considering FFs are not my type of car, I guess I'm satisfied with the result. 👍

FIA Rounds 26

Nations Cup - VW Scirocco Cup! Gr.4 at Suzuka

I was actually looking forward to this one- I like the track and the car is nice to drive, and I thought a single-make spec race would be kind of fun at this stage.

Got a pretty good qualifying lap in, started 6th in #6, and was just hoping to cling on to a 8th or better position from there. Started on H's, giving myself the option to run a no-stop, if things were looking ok. I decided they were, and committed to it, as after a few laps into the pit window, there was not point in pitting to run only a lesser number of laps on M's.

Turned out to be the wrong strategy, and I had trouble defending a few positions to guys on the faster tire, until I slid back to 11th by the finish. Bummed to have selected the wrong strategy, as I had a clean race, and probably the pace to earn my targeted 8th or better for the remaining races. Lost a few DR and didn't improve my FIA points standing. It was fun to see all the new liveries and a cool race, though.

Changed up the livery a bit, seemed a fun race to do something a little different.

8440308658693242904_0.jpg

Would you believe this race was clean? Including the first turn, even after this traffic jam at the start!
Manufacturers Series - Gr3 at Rainy Spa at Sunset

Was even more optimistic about this one, having had some good results at Spa this season, and in the wet in pretty good-handling Porsche 911 RSR. Put a little pressure on myself to do well, and was due for a good result.

I was pretty pleased with a strong 5th in qualifying, given that it was my last lap of the session, and it was faster than any lap I'd done in FP, all without a tow. And I knew from the earlier wet race there, if you can hold it together in those first couple of turns and laps, it's only a matter of keeping it on the track and bringing home a good result.

And I was able to do exactly that! Was up to 4th for some of the race, but had to yield it about half way through, and then I just kept the pressure on the guy in front of me, hoping to force a mistake, and if I was lucky, even luck into a podium, if one of the other leaders should have a problem. And we both got thru after one of the top 3 looped it on the start finish straight. But hats off to the AMG that I was tailing- he was methodical and precise, and while I was able to match him corner for corner, I never had a look at getting around him. Ended up a rewarding 4th place, taking my best FIA points haul for the season and bumping my DR to a new all-time high.

#6 (Again!) / Q5 / R4 ...really like this Porsche on a wet track! Proud of a strong result when I needed one.

7422500648584740888_0.jpg

Nice, clean, hard-earned 4th place at a rainy Spa.
PS: WHAT IS IT WITH IDIOTS IN QUALIFYING?! I had to let a moron who was pressing me on my out lap, then immediately had to brake check someone who was on my rear end at Campus... come on, people... you don't need to bother the guy in front of you, especially in the first lap. Give each other some space. Don't be a 🤬.

PPS: ran a Suzuka race on my Alt, dominated with Pole and a flag-to-flag win without seeing any one in the mirror after lap 4, and after waiting to pit until the guy behind me did. The one-stop is the best strategy there for us humans. I wonder if it would have ranked well in my first race- I have to check the total time from that one.

I don't feel bad beating up on the drivers in that race- it was a 24-25k DR lobby and I was racing in lower DR lobbies at the start of the season... including some of these guys, that I recognize. Gonna give the Spa race another go in the Corvette in the last slot tonight. Hoping to get matched with a friend there, finally.

Ah, I didn't realize that was you in the race! Your PSN ID seemed familiar but the numbers at the end threw me off  Sorry you got involved in that hairpin incident though, that was messy. But yeah, I watched the replay again and while you could argue I was making a bit of a lunge, I was pretty much on the inside of the corner and he turned in on me like I wasn't there.

I thankfully got Nations out of the way in the first slot. Qualified 13th and had a chaotic first lap:

Good to know another GTPlanet member was in that race as well, although unfortunate you got caught up in that hairpin incident. I happened to be the first driver that hit you when you spun at 130R, and if anything, I helped straighten you back out haha  Too bad the penalty system can't get its act together...

Raced the last slot in Nations before my trip to Myrtle and after that I think I need the break. Maaaan a lot of desperate fools in that one, if they'd just wait until the next straight when on fresher/better compounds I'd gladly let them through. I don't want to fight and cost me the time in the long run but every 🤬 wanted to squeeze through non existant gaps and force me wide or off track at every opportunity. Then when the shoe is on the other foot you get the last milisecond "defence" or swerve block as it's better known when they realize my nose is along side their ass. ( I should rephrase that)

To top it all off I punted someone off T1 last lap, he went two deep with another fool and broke way early. I should have expected it but didn't and ploughed him off, 3 seconds to me. Apologized afterwards but he wasn't happy. I've lost his respect apparently.....don't know how I'll sleep tonight

Q11th
P11

Ah, I didn't realize that was you in the race! Your PSN ID seemed familiar but the numbers at the end threw me off  .

Yeah need to change that! Lost patience trying to put in an original combo years back

1st Nations slot: started and finished 8th after failing to get a mistake-free lap in qualifying. Did a 2-stop, which appeared to break even with the 1 stop strategy.

Well, I got thrown into Top Split for the final slot in Nations, so I already knew a good finish was impossible. Somehow qualified 12th and ultimately couldn't break out of mid field and just threw it at the wall a few times on the last lap in frustration. That dropped me from P13 to P20. I saw @vvise parked on the line and managed to stop just before I crossed it. I guess he had the same idea, but I reversed and he gave up on the idea of finishing last. After he finished, I drove across the line myself.

I threw away a potential win and 210 points in the 2nd slot, then got matched into a room too difficult to even hope to try to make up for my stupidity in the last round. Absolute waste of a Saturday.

On the bright side, someone I know from GTP did win the race...congrats @Winnie847!

I for one love doing rain races in PC2 and ACC but never liked the feel of it in this game. Wasn't sure if I was going to do this race but found a good smooth style to handle this car in the wet. Qualified 2nd as the only driver in the 2.44s and the rest behind me were 2.45s and below while Q1 was in 2.42s. Not much to say about this race as positions didnt change for me and half way through the race gap between 1st and 2nd was 7 secs and the same for 2nd to 3rd. So basically just smooth sailing for P2.

A lot of familiar names in this race, wish it could have gone better, but I guess we all felt the wrath of the update and others mistakes.
I qualified mid pack, noted 5 S/S level drivers, so thought a top ten would be ok. Lap 1 had 3 different cars bumping and shoving in turn 1, up ahead it looked even worse. Some shoving got an orange car all loose and as he went across my front bumper from the grass on the right to the grass on the left he touched my front bumper...I got a 4 second penalty. Dropped me to 17th. I worked my way back up to 13th since there was more bumping and banging, then 12th on the last lap and when @GTWolverine parked at the finish line I gained 11th. 135 frustrating points. Minus the undeserved penalty I think I might have been 8th or so?
There were so many laps where I got pushed wide and bump passed, my fastest lap was lap 11 on hard tires when I was finally on open track.

I did the rain race, knowing I shouldn’t, in the Corvette. 5 S/S drivers in this one too. Most in mid engine cars, smh. Of course I messed up the chicane leading to the back straight on lap one, dropped to last. Worked my way back up only because a couple racers had an even worse time. I finished .5 seconds behind 17th. 16th and 15th just in front of him.
Door 18, Q18, Finished 18, 75 points.

Ugh, finally got a decent result at Spa. Qualified 7th. I started behind a Corvette driver but they took turn 1 slower than usual, which allowed 5th and up to pull away very early on. The Corvette eventually spun coming out of Les Combes and I took 6th. After that, I got passed by a Viper at the bus stop chicane on lap 2. I stayed in 7th for the rest of the race. Just glad I finished without any serious mistakes. I also used TC 1 this time, which helped quite a bit.

Just like Interlagos, I feel that Spa is not one of my stronger tracks. The rain certainly didn't help. But despite how much of a struggle this race was for me, I got my second highest score so far out of it, so there's a silver lining in all of this.
