The Porsche Legend race at Nurburgring Sprint is kind of hard on 2 chillis. They gave you an old Carrera RS with all it's quirks and you had to face off against 992 Turbos with their divebomb/pit abilities.

Gonna be honest but so far Sophy 2.0 feels better to race with IMO

Which of these power pack races has mandatory pit stops for tyres and fuel?
I've a funny story actually.

During my first attempt at the 1,000HP Tuning event at Tokyo, I was lagging behind somewhat and it looked like a sprint to me until Fraga pitted around three-quarters through the race. He was the only AI driver to do so.

Then on my second attempt, I was wiping the floor with the opposition and EVERY car stopped in to box. I can only presume the extra legs they were giving it to try and catch me meant they upped their fuel usage enough to force a pit stop.

Custom race sophy is much better indeed. Quite a few players can attest to that. Set a gr4 or gr3 race with bop on and boost set to weak, and you will have a way better experience compared to the "enhanced" sophy 3, which is only fast because their cars are way more powerful. Not to mention that in most power pack races, you only really race the leader. Everyone else is dead on track. Always defensive lines and dive bombs are a staple in their racecraft.

Custom race sophy provides a much better balanced experience.

You need to view it differently. The Power Pack has races for mediocre players as well as for great aliens. It's never been about being 1 level throughout the DLC
Of course, but...

2-chilli car, 0 practice, 0 qualifying, starting from-the-back, first attempt should in no universe result in a win after only 2 laps out of 10.

That's the highest-difficulty setting. I can't even imagine how-ridiculous the lowest-difficulty car would be.

It's disappointing, I was trying to improve my results in the most difficult races and now it doesn't make much sense anymore.

I don't understand anymore. People wanted the difficulty to be lowered and now they want it back up.
It’s a delicate balance to be managed, before some 2 Chilli events were relatively easy, some were straddling the line between tough & near impossible to do clean and some that were impossible to do clean, the GT500 events were the worst offenders for that IMO.

It’s possible that PD ‘slightly’ over corrected to make it more accessible to 100% Double Chilli without having to be a semi-alien driver.

Exactly, it seems they went from alien level to A level, with the 2 chilli. I remember Kie25 struggling in some races. Have to do some more races to have a better idea though.

Also the main issue was not so much the difficulty as the inconsistency in difficulty, some races were impossible for an average driver while others where relatively easy to win.

There's always the extremely skewed perspective of viewing the difficulty through the eyes of someone who may have 30 years of GT experience. And even then, there are massive differences between players, three to five seconds per lap is very much of a real thing and it doesn't even take an alien to pull that kind of a gap on someone who has played for decades but just can't get the job done on a level that would even bring golds in licences. Those people exist.

Which leads to the point, we don't need another Grand Prix Legends that you can play for years without perhaps winning a single race on the full difficulty level. After all gaming should be fun and losing every race isn't fun for anyone else than the hardcores, if even them, and they're a very small minority of the player base for which PD has to sell the product.

Not to mention that if we go by the base game difficulties, no chili is Easy, one is Normal, and two is Hard as the selection screen shows. Seeing that Hard isn't all that hard in most cases it sounds like they're now better balanced with each other.

I mean i was struggling to win with the wheel and i am half way A driver to win easily the two chili races playing with the dualsense. I mean…something if off for sure.
And again the issue is that they are not able to control the AI sophy but just playing with cars pp.

Just started Celebration of Sarthe at Daytona.

I'm pretty sure at least 50% skill issue on my end here but oh my god the GT40 kinda sucked here, who set this car up??

It's underpowered but also has bad brakes
So it's 60s accurate is what you're saying.
I love driving the GT40 in this game. It requires anticipating and forethought for braking zones and cornering. It's not at all like a modern prototype (or even an 80s-90s proto like Group C). The tires are bad, brakes are virtually non-existent, and there's enough power to meet God.

In my tests, the difficulty adjustment was good. I was already able to win the races I'm winning more easily now, and it's still difficult to win the races I couldn't win before.

In some races, like Porsche Legends at Monza or Vette at Trial Mountain, the double chili car is actually a dark horse. You get a worse chassis, but much more power to take advantage of the long straights. This is good balance.

What is not good balance is giving me a car that's the same as the competition but 50 bhp down on power and 100 kg up on weight.

I did another race where I was 6th and won again with 5 mins of practice, using the 2 chilli car.

It seems they went from:

A/A+/Alien level (it varied significantly)

to:

B/A level

It would have been better to have the 2 chilli at A/A+ level, the 1 chilli at B/A level, and the fast car at C/B level.

Maybe they should allow fuel consumption and tire wear.. even an an option for those of us who want to add it

Weird thing is that I love driving my stock GT40 on La Sarthe. I don't remember it being like this.

I guess it's the track? Maybe I just didn't like Daytona that much as I kept fumbling the braking points. I already won it though but it wasn't fun

In a way, it's kind of infuriating isn't it?

Why not just have something to indicate how difficult each event is, relatively speaking?

Now that we can use Garage Cars, everyone can basically render the races as easy or as difficult as they wish, or as far as their credits and tuning knowledge will take them.

Nonetheless, something to give us a target (give us a clue how much +/- PP or HP) to aim for, rather than having to run a Practice session as a barometer. It's just more added time for the player.

Don't get me wrong, it's rejuvenated the PP for me, but I'm getting the usual 'tick-tock, you're now closer to death' feeling I always get in between races on GT7.

Huh... so that's why yesterday I could win Mount Panorama with the 2 chilli car, when my previous best result was 7th...
Yup.

For a real laugh try the 1000hp Challenge races at Deep Forest and Tokyo.

500hp is still very bad. 2 chili car is the Supra GT... which is the worst type of FR car: understeery with lots of wheelspin. To make matters worse, standing starts with several AWD cars behind you, and the main opponent is Lopez in the same car as you, but he can somehow handle it far better and his car has more horsepower than yours. This is just bad design IMO.

Yes the 500HP on trial mountain is still very hard with the Supra; still struggling to finish 2nd or 3rd.

Got 3 cars prepped for the endurances. As for the Nurburgring endurance, I've settled on the Lancer Final Edition Gr3 with the alternate white livery.

The Corvette is for the Suzuka GT500 endurance, the GT-One is for Spa GT1, and the 787B is for the brutally fast LeMans GrC event

All 3 cars have been dialed in to be competitive with the AI without going overboard, and the liveries feature the fantasy sponsors in GT7 to keep it in line with the AI designs.

I won the Trial Mountain one but I had to block Lopez a fair bit after my tires were worn. Lake Maggiore forced me to use TC1 to handle the beast and even then I had to spin Lopez in the last lap for the win to fight the AI's "end of the race boost" which the leading AI car always seems to get.

Not much can be done to help this car other than adding power, as it's already lightened to the max. Adding power makes the handling worse, but at least it counters Lopez's extra speed which he somehow has despite being on stock turbo (judging from the replay) with no engine mods.

Hilariously, the 1,000 bhp race has rolling starts, but the 2-chili car is the Nissan GT-R R32 NISMO, which benefits from standing starts.

oh for sure the braking points at Daytona in that car are chuffed. Le Mans is relatively easy to plot them out but Daytona is still really tricky

Oh, I like this idea. Keeping them lore friendly means they won't stand out like a sore thumb against the AI cars.

Ya, I was commenting in the custom race thread that Reggie is better at the moment for a few reason. It's improved since launch and if you set it up right, it can be better than Sophy.

IMHO, they are chasing the wrong goals with Sophy.
