To be completely 100% fair to PD if I were in their shoes I might launch the PP the same way even knowing users are going to be unhappy about the restrictions.

Basically I'll want to see PP uptake among the player base, how people are interacting with it, and also make sure to use that time to adjust Sophy where needed and THEN release an update that allows more player control when interacting with the content. Basically what PD did was the safest way to launch this in the most fair manner across the player base.

Lots of people didn't complain at all about the PP. Lots of what I call "highly invested players" did. I think the people complaining online are a non-majority portion of the player base.

EDIT: Does anyone know what the specs are for the specialty versions of the regular cars in the DLC?
For example in the Suzuka 6 Hour there's cars you can own outright and then racing versions of cars the game appears not to have.

I would really like to challenge the Suzuka and Spa PP Enduros with either the Viper or the Ferrari F40 but I can't seem to find any details about the specs.

I have been complaining about lack of options & boring gameplay factors since I bought PS5 & GT7 a few years ago, coming from GT3/4/5/6. The PP was much better despite lack of options. Less than 6 months to improve a part of the game is not really bad game corporation policy. PD seems to be moving in the right direction.

$225k with the CRB for 7.5 minutes seems pretty good to me!

My qualifying lap was over 15 seconds faster than 2nd place Fraga 😳

There is also Daytona 8 laps and Le Mans 3 laps for 12-13min for 390k.
Well its not really an improvement but now I can vary and not always do Sardegna/Le Mans 30min.

You do any races you like. Do one and you get the first prize, two and you get the second, three and you get third and that's it until next week.

They adjusted the difficulty because I finally managed the two chilli civics on Suzuka

The chilli’s event are still tied to the specific cars

If that is the case no one should be moaning about using garage cars. To truly 100% the power pack, you still have to use the 2 chili car for each event

It is now possible to know which car you used. When you select a car it tells you your best position obtained with it.

Creating a "fun" race using garage cars might be difficult.

You might end up dominating the race as usual, or conversely, getting completely beaten, and it takes time to adjust.

I just won 2 chilli Civic Race at Suzuka first try, it was 1 of the 2 chilli races I've yet to win.
IA times are the same, meaning they buffed the car itself.

For me, the pick-your-garage-car is something I will definitely enjoy ... only when I'm finished with my first two 'tours'.

I'm currently 1/3 through the first tour, savouring 1-chilli and winning only around 1/5 of the events so far. Once finished (not including here the enduros), I'll capture a snapshot of the 'tree & branches to save my 'performance' at 1-chilli.

Next, experience and, hopefully, improved driving skills, will challenge me to rinse & repeat with the offered 2-chilly cars. Capture screenshot, save for posterity, see if improved over 1st tour.

And only then I will start using my own garage cars, liveries and tunings.

This is going to have some serious replay ability!!

Me too, pick your car is a good choice.
I will choose one for endurance race (too long) and for do "weekly marathon" because, if you have complete all races like me on 2 pepper exept endurance races, it's a good option !
If someone can confirm if the bug on endurance races (AI pit) is always ok ?!

That's quite a bunch of more horse power (140bhp!) for only 47 Kg more weight

After the update, I found an issue that could potentially soft-lock you into "car settings" menu.

I was doing the bump-drafting race at the Watkins Glen Short course, and was checking out the race restrictions when selecting a car from my garage; the PP cap was 720. When I went back to look at the pre-tuned cars that were offered, I noticed that both the Mustang AR and Viper were both above that 720PP restriction. I thought nothing of it, chose the Mustang, and did a round of practice.

When I got to qualifying, I opened up the car settings menu to see if I could make changes to the tune between rounds (I couldn't), and when I tried to exit the menu, the game kept giving me an error, saying that my car was above the 720PP limit. I ended up having to change my tires to Wets to get out of the menu, but then I was only allowed to use Wets for the rest of the event.

The Mustang AR started at about 736PP; the Viper was somewhere around 743PP, I think. It makes me wonder if there are other pre-tuned cars in the Power Pack that go beyond the race restrictions where changing the tire compound won't get you out of the car settings menu.

There are other issues that is either directly or indirectly related to this questions though, all in all there's good improvement but hopefully more to arrive in a few months time.

Same story with the ‘Beetle’ at Willows... they really went over the top...

I qualified on pole, started at the front and won easily, whereas I hadn't managed to do that before the update...

Starting from pole, I always found myself in 3rd place at the first corner... with the 1.69, I stayed in the lead thanks to the extra power...

So, no battle and less fun in securing two chillies... 🤔 😂
