I mean I get that this adds to the challenge but then it makes the whole practice and qualifying part to experience a race weekend redundant…
You say that (and you're mostly correct), but with the vastly expanded possibilities, I've been tending to use practice, and to a lesser extent qualifying, as a good chance to judge the relative level of the challenge waiting for me.

Two endurances down, two to go!

Next up will be the LeMans 24hr with my own personal 787B!

I'm thinking about using the XJR-9 (with the XJR-5 Group 44 livery) for Le Mans, and the FT-1 Gr. 3 (with an anime livery from... some show...) for Nurburging.

... And no, I did not wall ride. I don't do that.
Yeah, you must've seen the member's telling me that it can't be done without wall-riding, and yet... first time in, no practice, no qualifying and it's won-and-done in 2 laps.

Of course, I would never make an accusation like that about you Tommy. There're always better drivers, just as when you think your life is difficult, someone else somewhere is worse-off.

Ahh... the intermanets.

I’ve got a question for everyone.

There are already quite a few of you who’ve done the 24-hour races; specifically, my question is about the 24 Hours of Nürburgring.

Does the AI make regular pit stops, for example after every 10 laps, or does it vary from stint to stint?

I’m asking because I started with the Audi yesterday and, to make up time or rather to gain places quickly, I started on soft tyres. That was probably a mistake, as I couldn’t capitalise on the advantage due to traffic.

After 3 hours, I retired in 11th place, a good 2 minutes behind. I noticed that the AI uses different tyres – medium and soft. Now I’m wondering whether I can move up the field using this tactic if the AI pits every 10 laps. After 24 hours, I’d really like to win the race.

That’s why I’m thinking of driving the AMG, but that would only be a Chilli.

Thanks for your help and tips

Pits vary depending on what tires they put on. Softer tires mean more frequent stops to change and refuel.

I've run the race 3x times now. Each time the AI cars pit about every 8-11 laps depending on tire compound currently being used, weather, and the differences between cars.

I ran the Merc each time and won by an average of 3 laps. I haven't tried it with a garage car yet.

I have found that using the PD "save your progress" functionality ruins the race. It convinces the AI that the fuel they have is Max Fuel for their car and can sometimes pit lap after lap after lap.

It's been my experience that the Audi they provide is too slow for me to have fun with. While I excel in the corners I'm a dog on the straights. Garage the same car is vastly more competitive but you won't get a chili or two from that.

It also sounds like you may benefit from going for gold on the Track Experience in the base game for the Nurburgring. Gaining the familiarity required to gold that experience really really helps with the racing.

Hope that helps and hope you have a great time!

Thanks for your comments.

Since the 1.69 update, the Audi has 69 kW more power, but also 200 kg of ballast. On a clear track with no traffic and on soft tyres, I can manage an 8:22. The tyres last me 5 laps; on the 6th lap I lose about 8 seconds because the tyres are worn out.

The problem, at least for me, is that the centre tyres also suffer a power dip after about 6 laps and have hardly any grip, which is where I lose a lot of time and go off the track.

But basically you’ve already helped me; I’ll probably go for the AMG as well, just to make sure I win the race.

Thanks, and I hope you continue to have fun on the Ring

Great stuff!

I'm curious, did you have to do much manual balancing to make it a good race?
Roughly 3 enter+quits, and studying the AI in the spectator mode, before I figured out the ideal setup! ^^

The Beetle accelerates a bit quicker than them, however the woeful brakes mean I also have to decelerate sooner. Many factors are in play when optimizing my garage cars for the closest races.

Unfortunately I've no idea how to do that mate.

Thankfully Tommy stepped up - thank you Tommy!

My #1 tip would be to practice threading the needle through all the doglegs. You're better-off lifting 'til you've got those suckers lined-up than applying any sort of power early, especially in a car like this.

If you don't become airborne briefly towards the end of the straight you're probably not getting a good exit onto it.

Using a coin flip (my friend's idea, she always does a coin flip when deciding between two things ), I am now nearly 2 hours in Le Mans with my Bud Light XJR-9. So far, only 3 cars (including me) are still on the lead lap. Got a little rain cloud coming in a few hours.

I wasn't originally going to try the two chilis, seeing that knowing myself I'd be irritated if the races aren't all cleared like that eventually, but began the project anyway and now I'll have to do them all. After reading the horror stories about the Civic races I tried the first Tokyo and quickly found out that the car doesn't have front tyres at all, and the second Tokyo only made it more clear. And then to Suzuka with a car that has the gripping abilities of an ice cube on a kitchen sink, a noticable chance of rain, and I don't consider myself to be much of a FWD driver. Yet this somehow happened and there even was rain on the first and second laps.

I made a few attempts at the 1000hp tuning battle at Trial mountain with the Audi LMS '15 or '19. I gave up after 4 rnds. Same with the Audi TT cup '16. All cars were fully upgraded. After that I used one of the Red Bull X cars but can't remember which one but only fully downgraded except racing transmission which made the Red Bull X car have 817 PP. While it was an easy victory it was fun because I won with less than 30 secs in the 10-12 laps & half the race it was perhaps only 10-15 secs because the [Nismo 400R] AI car has enormous acceleration at the longest part of the circuit.
The power pack gives more replayability fun within the PP constrain than custom race outside of the credit payout which I have not estimated. But perhaps some of you have? It must be distance equivalent obviously.

4 hours in Le Mans now, and I got a comfortable 1 lap lead. The rain is also just starting, but it's a light drizzle. I think I can stay on RS for another stint before it gets too wet for them.
How're you intending to play it? Will you be using the suspend race "feature"?

I found all 3 of these races really easy. Yeah, the FWD sucks because it pushes wide when you are on the gas, but as soon as you let off, the car tracks around the turns really well. You got to make sure you give the car time to slow down as its brakes and tire grip aren't that great, but after driving that 500hp Supra, this 2 chili Civic is glued to the road.

Umm, maybe I'm not remembering something correctly, but I don't think there is a 1000hp tuning race at Trial Mountain. I remember there being races at Tokyo East and Deep Forest.
