What do you expect the Power Pack DLC will cost?

The playerbase will be split regardless because of the gift cars from the DLC.
Well that’s not really confirmed though! Yes the Power Pack hints at unique modifications, they may still be part of Spec III. Remember there is a note on the PP trailer stating that the Spec III update is required so it could just be new mods in GT Auto!

Adding tracks that are only accessible to people who've paid means that when these tracks appear in online multiplayer, people who haven't paid can't play - nor can they play any single-player content (races, missions, circuit experiences). This divides the playerbase between those who have paid and those who have not.

I don’t know how this happened and I can’t fix it, it’s replying as you. Anyway.

Project cars… if I didn’t have the dlc, I could only access it in online lobbies if somebody was running it. So I was only out in single player. So I don’t think it divided the player base at all. People even got to try said cars to decide if they wanted them or not.

Variations on the "look but don't touch" solution are indeed how others approach the online aspect, but I'm not aware of one instance of it applying to single-player modes too.

You fix it by removing the quote tags from the bits that aren't quotes. Or starting over.

You definitely don't just post it anyway, because quoting people as saying things they didn't say is Quite Rude.

It could even be some crazy reason like these gift cars can only be used in Sophy races in the DLC, kinda like Sophy versions of the Tokyo daily race using pre-tuned JDMs the other week. Would be v odd though. Racing/aero mods for more cars as part of SPEC III looks most likely as things stand, where in that case being gifted modded cars that you could easily mod anyway at the tuning shop would be a bit underwhelming as far as gifts go... who knows, only a few more days.

Edit: that's if they are actually gift cars in the first place; one of the DLC screenshots does at least seems to hint at the 86 being a prize/gift, but...

Believe me I tried. I even refreshed my page. Nothing was working. I deleted everything but your quote hit enter, started typing and it boxed my text back in as you. Very bizarre. I don’t believe it’s rude that I posted anyway because made it clear that, it’s replying as you and I can’t seem to fix it. I figured either you or some other moderator would be able to fix it for me. No matter what I did it just kept putting my text into “famine” quote boxes no matter what I did. I’m on mobile so I don’t see quote tags it just jams it into a box. When I hit enter it looked how it usually does for my text, as soon as I typed a letter it slammed it right back into the quote box.

You’re correct I don’t think single player modes would work but my point was to people saying it divides the online community. It can be done so it doesn’t it just means they can only access that type of stuff by going into online lobbies and hoping the cars or tracks pop up for them to use.

It still creates a divide as you're unable to practice offline with the affected cars and tracks. It would make no sense to start this divide almost 4 years into the game's life.

It’s online lobbies. There are no rewards, it’s just racing for fun. I do forget about sport mode a lot of the time because I don’t utilize it at all. I’m average, if that. Just like COD rankings, the cream of the crop is probably cheating or heavily exploiting something to get there and then rest are competing for the true 1st place and nobody really knows at what rank in the world that actually begins. 1000th or 12,000th.

Some of the fastest people (for the time trials at least) are members of this forum and post here. Not very nice to call them cheats.

There is no divide. The DLC content will be completely separate. If you buy it then there is nothing in there that you could use in the rest of the game.

Sophy 3.0 won't replace the current Sophy 2.0 races on the current tracks but will only be used for the Power Pack races. There also won't be new cars that you could only acquire after buying the Power Pack.
B-Spec (if it is coming, which is likely) will only be available in the Power Pack races.
The car upgrades (maybe simply cosmetics, maybe some kind of race package) will only be on those cars in those specific Power Pack races for which these are will be pre selected, just like the recent daily race A with the special tune tiny race car (was it a Fiat?) whose specs could not be replicatedvia the regularly available parts from the tuning shop.
Qualifying and the whole full race weekend experience will only be available for these races as well.

It is pure bonus content that can only be accessed by clicking on the comically large sail boat and nowhere else.

Everything else that could actually split the player base, which goes beyond some (hopefully fun) extra races will be part of the free and also compulsory Spec III update. New tracks, new cars, data logger, increased collector level cap, new weekly challenges, invitations overhaul and possibly more.

Like mentioned before this way of splitting up the content makes perfect sense for their business model and is consistent with how the franchise has handled new content ever since at least GT Sport.

Yea like what??? It’s ok to be slow.. but to say the top fastest people are probably cheating is crazy work.
To be clear I’m not singling any one out. Are they number 1 or just high up there?

I loaded up a ghost of a top time attack once and their brake lights blinked for a split second, and somehow they carved the corner like they were on rails. I tried over and over trying to replicate exactly what they did, I’d just go flying right off the track. I suspected some kind of cheating I’m really not sure how they were managing that. Just like I have no clue how people do the cheats in COD, and lots just say it’s a skill issue when clearly it isn’t. Somehow this car had extreme traction or simply glued itself to the track.

Another I couldn’t even get close, loaded up a top time, they were off the track more than they were on. It was track exploitations. I don’t have time to figure out where I go off the track by huge amounts to try for top rankings. Nor do I care to, as eventually the game will be deleted or sit dormant on an old PS5.

I don't think anyone is cheating in those time trials, just "exploiting" the more video gamey aspects of the GT7 physics. The fact is, in GT7, you're rewarded more for driving the car in an unrealistic manner than realistic. There's a reason people call this a simcade.

The people who are better at this will be faster. I've seen top time trialers drift around corners and gain time when they should lose it. One guy even had countersteer assistance on and he was in like the top ten. My biggest pet peeve is the downshift exploits to scrub off speed quickly. Like that would just ruin the powertrain instantly in real life, if the car's onboard computer even let you do it (my real life car doesn't let you and it's cousin is in the game).

The reason people are fast is because of skill not because they are cheating. When you are fast, you go to the limit without going over them. If you don’t cross the line you are not cheating.

I reckon the only time we could consider that some where cheating was that time trial at streets of willows springs in the s13 Silvia where “the game allowed us to hit cones out of the way for a few laps so that we could get larger track at some place”. To quote myself they/we were going over the limits but PD allowed it and said that they would fix it eventually if I remember correctly.

All I’m saying is don’t hate those who are faster than you and try to learn from them.

I don't think I'm naive if i say real gameplay cheating is not happening in GT7. Yeah, people are that good. Plus exploiting the full range of the track is not cheating, especially if everyone can watch it and do the same.

I was thinking... Why didn't they just merge the SPEC III and Power Pack as one DLC? It's the same release date and they could charge a bit more. From a business perspective, it just seems a bit odd?
Sophy.

Spec 3 is available for everyone. The DLC features Sophy which is only available for PS5. Given the content in the Power Pack, it's more than a little unfair to NOT give something similar to the PS4 people, so they charge extra for it on PS5 for those who want it.

Carving the corner is about balance. Whether on controller or wheel, a light input can give a big gain, but many over do it. What you describe is just the skill difference.

Well "off track" is penalized. If there's no penalty, then it's not an off track. Yes, on some tracks, the out of bounds area is not the same as it appears on the graphics. Turn 4 of Lago Magiore is a good example. You can run wide somewhat, but be careful. Over time you learn, and we don't know how much time some people have spent on each track.

Everyone has their thing. I, for instance, want to be a "jack of all trades" for the game, but that makes me a master of none. Some dedicate all their time to specifics and it shows. Remember, there are pros out there who use this game as training, while some of us are regular people with regular lives.

Who is number 1 changes, but we have members who have competed in that sphere including competition finalists. On the ghost you mention, you need to share the same setup as the ghost car. I don't think it's possible to cheat by somehow changing the games physics (at least not yet, maybe once the game ceases to be supported and works offline). But there are quirks in the physics that can be exploited, at one time that was running over the curbs and allowing the traction difference and curb to pull you around the corner faster than should be possible.

You won’t want to hear this but honestly it’s a skill issue.

Two years ago I struggled to get in the top 5000 today I can typically post sub 500-600 times in the TTs (the ones that I enjoy) and the daily races across all 3.

Tidgney posts videos of the TTs where he does them on a wheel, with a controller and in VR and will typically set a top 10 time in each control type so there is a replay and ghost, he does this by mid morning the day the new ones drop.

@Metalgear9493 tops a lot of the TTs and posts on here, his replays are available and his ability to extract speeds is something else.

Now what separates them from us is they will push the track limits, have much better input fidelity and are very very good at the game and managing the speed and momentum.

Here is me following Tidgney’s ghost from the recent daily at Trial Mountain. I play in VR but have done it side by side with the Bumpercam view, no driver aids apart from ABS weak

That makes sense. I know they say can’t cheat in the game, but I clearly remember in GT5 somebody popping into a lobby and somehow lapping us before we finished our first lap on not that long of a track. Haha

The curb thing is maybe what was happening and I didn’t clue into that or couldn’t practice enough to hook the curb just right. The weird thing was I was way faster than him in another section of the track so it was all down to that first corner on Goodwood. Through st Mary I was way faster. Just couldn’t do whatever they were doing in the first corner to gain so much time.

I was trying to learn, it was pointed out to me it could have been hooking a curb just the right way. I do remember seeing one where somebody would park their car, and teleport halfway around the track. I even saw it happen in a lobby I either hosted or joined.

Yeah, can’t prove it sort of thing but I do believe it happens.

Anyway I understand dlc content would divide the community but only in sport mode in my opinion. The rest wouldn’t matter, if you don’t have it you don’t have it for single player, multiplayer lobbies (not sport mode) again it wouldn’t matter if you could simply access it to try. The rest I get it, time trials or sport mode, it gives an advantage to those who purchased, but if you’re that competitive, you’d want to purchase it too.

Sophy 3.0 won't replace the current Sophy 2.0 races on the current tracks but will only be used for the Power Pack races.

You sure about that? Sophy 2.0 replaced Sophy 1.0

I’m expecting Sophy 3.0 to be used in custom races - no?

3.0 is a Power Pack feature, not a Spec III feature - although we don't know why or how 3.0 is different yet. A whole version number means wholly new capabilities, perhaps B-Spec or some kind of endurance race strategy planning. Either would make sense in the context of the Power Pack adding at least one endurance race.

It's not coming to the rest of the game as far as we know.

I also think Sophy 3.0 will be available for all not only Power Pack.

I think it would be strange to support both Sophy 2.0 and 3.0

This info about Sophy 3.0 only for Power Pack could be just wierd wording or translation error.

We will see how it turns out.

Question: i have about 96 million credits for the moment. Will i be able to redeem the full 5 million credits with the DLC or how will this work?

We shall. I mean yes it is weird to run 3 different models of AI competitors.

But then they’re running two kinds as it is now, standard and Sophy (because of PS4?). Though I think it could well be 3 with some kind of Standard+ (those chilli races).

Who knows - if they didn’t have to run on the PS4 would they have completely removed the standard AI - probably not.

The more I think of it, the more I think my initial assumption is now wrong

Yeah right. It could be wierd. Or something.

On the other hand. No more new tracks for Sophy? And if there will be new tracks for sophy? For which? For 2.0? For 3.0? Both? What about wet races support or offroad?

I mean PD could limit 3.0 for Power Pack owners but it feels too complicated to continue support like that. This is why i feel Sophy 3.0 will be a part of Spec 3.

I hope because I would love to have 3.0 in custom race not only in power pack.

Take on grueling 24-hour endurance challenges, experience a full race season that includes practice to qualifying to the main event, and go wheel-to-wheel in heart-pounding, tail-to-nose battles against Gran Turismo Sophy 3.0, the latest evolution of our advanced AI racer—available exclusively in the Power Pack.

this „available exlusively in the Power Pack” could mean that those special races which use Sophy 3.0 are exlusive not the whole Sophy 3.0

This is what I think that it could be wierd wording or translation error.

In GT5 you could cheat by editing your savefile, since it was stored locally on your PS3. Now that savefiles are stored online we don't have the same access to them.

I think you're clutching at straws here

The Power Pack is an all new game mode full of motorsports excitement: 50 new races across 20 categories based on countries and automotive culture, including 24-hour races, race events where you can play through a full session, from practice and qualifying to the race itself, and nail-biting close quarters tail-to-nose racing with the latest version of our AI agent, Gran Turismo Sophy 3.0, available only with the Power Pack.

All seems pretty clear
