After my initial disappointment I've now actually flipped after thinking about it.

Kinda hyped for these fully curated races with all those pre tuned cars.

Hope for some DTM races similar to the ones that showed up in the weeklies.

On a bummer note I fully expect one of the 6 branches to be 💩💩💩rally💩💩💩.

I like most of the stuff they showed. I was disappointed with how much emphasis they put on rally events. Seriously....?

Sophy is not available on ps4 and it’s the AI used in these races from the power pack.
I know with all the hustle that’s going on and economy but you can’t expect to still get anything on a console that’s 12 years old. At some point time has come and there have never been a modern console that was supported and got new games as long as the ps4.
There is really nothing to complain.

This seems absolute fair in my opinion.
Wasn't complaining at all  just got hyped up for extra content. Not gonna lie it felt like a swift horse kick to the nether regions when i heard the words PS5 only but quickly understood the reasoning as sophy 3.0 would fry the poor old PS4's..

So wait let me get this straight... We cannot chose our own cars for those power pack races, in a single player gran turismo experience? This is just glorified cafe menu.
More like some of the Missions.

It is: it's the Power Pack-exclusive "GP-Tuned" model.

I like the name GP-Tuned because it’s a nod to the Skyline that raced in the Japan Grand Prix at Fuji back in the day.

Might seem like a strange choice to call it a Grand Prix car but that’s what the race was called, so it’s a cool reference.

Le Mans is more than the Hypercar class. 100 years of racing history.
That's very true but I think most people including me want to experience the race they see on TV or follow on any media. And that's about hyeprcars and GT3s in the recent years.

No sign of B-Spec either. Will make 24hr racing interesting.
Especially if the article wording is correct and there are no restarts. Not sure how that would work in practice - you have to redo the whole event including practice and quali?

Way too high of a price. I will buy because GT is very important to me but for regular gamers it should not cost the same as the whole game does now.

A whole game? Like… an Indie game? A whole “new” console game usually costs 80-90$ now.

Steam early access is a different story ofc but GT7 doesn’t directly compete with those.

Curious to see if all those modified cars also have modified interiors in VR.

I like that we're (hopefully) getting decent racing events, but there's two very off-putting things for me:
  • No custom cars - understandable if they have tuned the AI to the available car options, but this goes against (what I think) is the whole point of GT. I really hope this is not the blueprint for the next mainline game. (If you want to offer prebuild cars, you could always make them rentable for a fee or something for that event, or have some sort of brand sponsor/team system.)
  • No championships - what's the point of having all these sessions if it's just for a one-off race. Just like the rest of GT7 it's all random events. One and done. I wanna be immersed and make my own head canon. Championships offer more replayability and should come with big championship bonuses.

Looking good so far but I think i'll wait until ive seen some reviews before buying it.

Im sure I will buy it sooner or later but no harm in waiting to see what everyone thinks about it before deciding if it's worth £25. Plus BF6 still has me hooked 😜

Well said

That's not really GT though (especially this edition). More about the history of motoring and motorsport rather than what's happening right now.

Concept looks interesting, not able to use your own cars but a select few that makes the challenge more difficult, nice replayability.

Loving the 6 bonus cars.

Price is a bit high for this quantity of content, but given the hours of fun this game gave me since 4 years I am ok to fork 30€

Well, I am not most people then, I couldn't care less, I am much more excited by Hachiroku 80's, Gran Turismo 300, Hakosuka '70s and Nürburgring Tourist

I figured it’d be in the $40AUD range. I was getting it regardless of price. Acquiring that Hakosuka…

Like, damn, finally! We got the Racing Modification from GT2!

As always, PD give us those surprises, but where’s the Mazda RX-3 and TE27 Corolla to have battles with the Skyline?

Another thing is the AE86 D-Tuned. I mentioned this in regards to update 1.44:
Maybe PD will add tandem drift SOPHY. ;)
We’ll see. ;)
Hope we get to pick what colour/livery the bonus Power Pack cars we get!
Hopefully. Seeing all those different liveries.

I don’t think GT has ever really been a great game for simulating full championships and careers. You can definitely do it with custom races and Microsoft Excel now, just without qualifying lol. But in older GT games even in their championships you only have five other competitors, so it kinda felt pointless back then too imo.

I think for simulating a full championship or season of a particular racing class you enjoy, Assetto Corsa on PC is a much better platform for that. And you get all the cars off the bat, no collecting needed.

That's not really GT though (especially this edition). More about the history of motoring and motorsport rather than what's happening right now.

Yeah, again AC is a much better place for that than GT lol. I will admit it would be nice to have a few good championships in the single player of GT, but if they focused on that exclusively you’d loose a bit of what the series is about. The cars and coffee element.

Personally
I like the cafe concept
It's a more chill approach to car collecting and learning about cars and racing

GT7 is sort of the coming back of GT1 car collecting focus
Teaching 7 -77 about cars and their worth and history

Today's car culture is about gatherings of cars And coffee

It's a good balance between collecting and racing

Not just racing alone...

GT7 has a little bit of everything for everyone.

Edit:
When most if not all car games involve some sort of pumped up rock, hardcore EDM, or rap (nothin bad about it)
It's just refreshing to get jazz and the cafe concept is a more mature way of nicely putting everything together in a clean neat environment (japanese style) to present an upscale car culture ... Respect and adherence to race craft, no dirty tricks....
Race to the top rather race to the bottom philosophy
GT8 should be three games in one then.

1) The Cafe - this is cars and coffee where you collect cars - typically the road going and weird stuff to show off, tune etc. Also has your missions and oddball events.
2) Campaign - this is your race series and career progression where achievement unlocks the race cars, GT4, GT3 etc.
3) The Arena - the online sports mode with true rotating daily and weekly event races and time trials.

Correctly guessed or chosen? Haha. $41 CAD is much to steep for me for this.
Does this mean that the already-existing Sophy compatible courses in custom race will get the upgrade to 3.0 as well?
That’s what I was wondering. If Sony 3.0 is only accessible through that portion of the game it has no value to me. The only car I’d be interested in is that race modified skyline, the rest meh. Hardly worth $41 CAD for a car some credits and a glorified cafe menu.
I'm mostly hyped, if I'm honest.

The only negative is my reflexive side-eye to the folks who complained about free updates, wanted paid DLC and now think this price is too much.
I’ve complained about the free updates, not trying to get into that, it’s beating a dead horse. But that comes from receiving free updates where out of four cars, one mildy interests you and the rest are throw aways.

So somebody like me thinks, hey what if they did DLC so instead of getting one muscle car, I give them $10 and get five or six muscle cars. But that’s not how PD works, they just do what they want when they want and how they want. I respect that, I’m the same, but it’s still going to lead to some disappointment.

Beware...

In french, it literally says :
"Once the race is over, you don't get a second chance, exactly like in real races."

So we think we have to choose from a curated selection of pre-tuned cars for all of these 50 (repeatable) new races, right? (No garage cars?)

And six of these pre-tuned cars can be won (once?) and put in our garage and used in normal non-DLC SP World Circuit/MP Sport Mode races?

Sounds good. A bargain at £25 if (big IF)Sophy does the business.

The price on the DLC is pretty standard for Sony 1st party games and I figured it would be around that price. I paid 29.99 for the Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut. Actually it was 19.99 + 10.00 for PS5 upgrade. A little bummed by not being able to use my garage but i get it. Much easier to train Sophy against specific cars in each race than a wide range of cars. I might wait to get this because Marvel Cosmic Invasion looks very appealing to me and right now it is the same price as Power Pack

I am not worried, even if bonus cars come with only one livery, the users will make all the other ones tomorrow 😁
True, but those parts. Gotta hope they’re available at some point. Can’t recall we got the exact parts from GT5P to GT5. Then, we didn’t exactly get the same parts from that game until this game. No carbon bonnets, but there are ways around that.

I do hope I can run the races and collect all the cars in their liveries. Would suck only having one of each and they’ll look oddball in my Custom Races.
