Like Kaz previously said , he originally wanted to make a hardcore simulation just like Iracing or ACC but Sony were against that , they wanted to be more casual friendly so that's true to this day and i dont think Sony is worried about that especially when they see GT7 is selling really good only behind GT3 in the US atm

Very much this^
I know many people doesn't like this but it's the reality - i would love all of those race cars of any kind /maybe not nascar lol/
and that's why i think PD should go back to making DLC packs and that way they can make money out of us and in return we get what we want :P
I think paid dlc is the only way to go,.they need to make money so keep up the free cars but they need money for track licences etc to bring them to the game I'm sure we would all pay!

Even if we paid for DLC there’s no guarantee on the amount of content and/or speed of getting that content. Definitely no guarantee of a road map. No doubt I would like____(insert anything from a wish thread), but we know PDLogic reigns supreme.

The one kind of DLC I could get on board with, would be “monthly car packs” for vehicles already currently IG. Give the player a legitimate and somewhat cost effective alternative to mindlessly grinding.

Anything other than that, just feels like too much of a paywall IMO

My take on the race cars thing is: It's perfectly fine for GT to be a game that focuses on road cars. Especially since modern race cars seem to be the primary-if-not-sole focus of basically every other sim-leaning game at the minute so having a game that doesn't focus on them is honestly refreshing.

But given that, it's incongruous that the online races are so GT3/GT4 heavy, they really should make things line up there. If the car list is going to be mainly road cars, have the events reflect that. Or, if they want race cars to be the focus of the online, then they need to prioritise keeping on the treadmill of adding new ones more. But I don't think the current half-and-half approach does anything but create false expectations for people.
They Supposedly according to Kaz able to model 15 cars a month, should be quite capable of satisfying everyone.

But PD are a strange bunch, by pike peaks license, don't use it, sign a tie up with IMSA, don't utilise it. Good knows what IMSA must be thinking, the business decision are akin to motorsport games in some aspects.

I doubt paid dlc is coming. GT7 is built around a Free to Play system that must be bringing them in a bunch of money.

I can’t imagine them keeping this system in place, unless it’s making them money. Kaz’s only tweet about this game, shortly after launch, shows that he knows the economy isn’t player friendly but they’ve kept it anyway.

I bet PD has a MTX tracker, with a graph that shows a bump in Mtx sales every time they release a free car and extra menu update.

I assume that they will make this game a Ps+ extra game once the games sales numbers come down as that will bring a raft of extra players and MTX sales also.

Personally - the only update I am interested in is one that changes the single player ‘game’ elements of GT7. Everything else within GT7 is the best it has ever been but the single player is the worse imo.

A simple economy rebalancing and a well thought out GT League would complete this game for me.

Plus… ofcourse… we all love the idea of more cars and tracks but for me, that’s secondary to making the game more user friendly and fun

I’m being silly with this next reasoning, as I have nothing to back it up. It’s like PD didn’t add to GT7 the GT Sport pay real money for cars from the PStore because maybe not enough takers. Similar to how they canned the personal car track data feature. Just not enough players active with certain features.
PD start stuff. It shows promise. Then it vanishes never to brought up and seen again.

I doubt there’s many MTX transactions going on. I think they’re priced too high to be tempting. In the U.K. it's a quarter the price of the game to get just 2 million credits!?

Compare that to Fortnite though and maybe that’s reasonable? The game is free though so a different model of business

I dont think we Will get a new track this update, and i dont think its the anniversary update either i think thats for next month with could bring more cars and a new track, campared to this month

They definitely have never said they can model 15 cars a month, I don't think anyone in the industry is doing 15 licensed cars a month at any fidelity.

I thought the last estimate we heard from them was 60 per year, which is significantly closer to what we get (though still more, of course).

My reply was to point out wether the VGT was the Bonus « part » or the watch a bonus for having bought the VGT …

(I will die trying to explain the joke anyway so i’ll stop now)

I'd say that might be intentional, and they've struck a pretty good balance. Considering that even the most expensive car in the game, that isn't even needed for progression but is just a show piece or for personal driving pleasure, can be bought after approximately 12 hours of playing it may be a case "if you really want this without actually playing the game, be prepared to cough up so much money that you'll seriously reconsider it". Of course there probably are people who have done just that but overall there's a strong guidance to doing it the old fashioned way.

Even if you take the 60 number they are releasing around 30, to update say the GT3 roster would be around 6 cars, 4 or so Super GT, 6 or so GTP/Hyoercars a couple of GT4s whilst still producing 40 or so road cars.

They just seem to make strange decisions, dont seem to have a plan, the biggest development in GT7, Sophy was not even developed by them,

The League Community I belong too has lost a lot of players, some to disappointment, but a lot to ACC on PS5 or PC sims, We did 8 hours of Monza on ACC, 30 car grid driverswaps lots of fun, got a multi class one coming,

Where are these feature for GT7, People who play single player often blame online for the lack of single player features, but online has not had any development since GTS, same format, same cars,

Expecting a steady stream of incoming GT3 cars in GT7 is delusional, because the numbered titles always had road cars as their primary focus. Sony “bosses” know this.
Yes it is delusional! I honestly don't care if the GT3 roster isn't up to date because I have Assetto Corsa Competizione for that.
curious to see the shifting in cockpit view too 😅
Ah yes I remember now - it has a column shifter.

Forza gets 12 16 car releases you figure gt would try to compete with that once in a hwile but I guess not

I think that, when it comes to the TTS, PD weren't smart about it. They could have opted for the RS version, which would differentiate it from the existing 2014 TTS and the TT 3.2, while also being the first Audi RS model in the game. This is the strategy to diversify the car list even for different generations of the same model.
The same for the R8: R8 4.2 (gen 1), R8 V10 Plus 2015 (gen 2) and R8 V10 GT RWD 2023 (gen 2, post facelift, rear wheel drive "track" version). You could do this for plenty of other Audis.
And plenty of brands could use this "strat".
We have the A45 AMG from 2013, and to update the line up, we could get the 2020 CLA45 S AMG, which is pretty much the sedan version of the newer A45.

The Renault 4, yes, I think it's a weird/meme choice, that feeds off the nostalgia of a percentage of the player base. Some people will use the "it did rallying" as a reason, although almost anything was used for rally at some point, with some real rally cars/cars with real rally pedigree (like the 70s Ford Escorts) being much more relevant in that regard. And engine swaps shouldn't be the sole reason to add a car to the game. But I'm yet to understand what is the criteria PD uses to model cars, because at this point, it's assumed that they just stumble upon something, and decide to add it.

The thing is, PD isn't even doing a good job at modeling road cars. There's probably over 500 road cars that would fit really well into the game, yet they managed to choose road cars outside that sphere, and completely ignoring the glaring omissions. The best update yet, had 7 cars, and atleast 6 of them were in most people's wishlist at some point.
No one is really expecting a steady stream of GT3 cars, but a few here and there (Ferrari and Aston, and then Bentley) would make a huge difference.

That's not how it works. PD can only model a limited amount of cars per year (some say it's 60 per year). Of which some are added to GT7 via update, the rest probably saved for the next game. Having paid DLC, won't magically increase the number of cars they can model in a year.
And given their track record, even as road cars go, chances are we would still get road cars that nobody asked for, so not only you would be forcing those who want race cars, to pay extra to have them, and those who want good road cars forced to endure meme cars, duplicates, and so on.

Ahm no, I didn’t think about magic, I thought about hiring more people to model cars and finance these extra staff people (or another company if it’s outsourced) trough the extra income they have then with the DLC.

I don't think any extra capacity is on the cards, unfortunately. Pretty much the entire gaming industry has said the AAA status quo is unsustainable and is cutting budgets/payroll right now, nobody is expanding at all. If anything I'd expect output to slow down rather than expand.

Not exactly, the lever is on the side of the dashboard, not on the steering column. But I am not tech savy enough to know if it works like a column shifter.
