The GTS Class then later turned into GT1 though, and GT2 basically Is what GT3 is now.
But if you take that route than you have cars like the Toyota GT-One and the Viper GTS-R racing in the same class (GT1) even though they raced as GT1 and GT2 cars respectively in the same race (98 LeMans) ...and that's certainly not right...

Also...where are you putting LMGTE (aka ALMS GT) cars?...GT1?

Are they most similar to GT2 or GT3? O.o

Really? I am sure its around that it only differs for the heavier cars and what not, but they are roughly producing that figure.

Since when did they change.

Also there is more GT300 cars on the game then GT3s but if you combine them all into one class you will have very large grids.
Yes. It's pretty much impossible for 300 hp, 1200 kg cars to 1'37s at Fuji speedway, which is faster than the best WEC GTEs have ever managed. The GT300 CR-Zs also looked faster than the GT3 cars (which use FIA BoP) on the straight at Fuji, which would also be impossible with 300 hp, or even "only" 400 hp.

But they are only this fast since 2012. When the GTA allowed FIA GT3 cars into GT300 for 2012 (to boost numbers/reduce costs for smaller privateers, it has worked), they had to make existing/new JAF GT300 cars faster, which was mostly accomplished with restrictor breaks. GT500 also became a little faster in 2012 to maintain the gap in lap times between the classes.

GT1 class in the 90s was much different to the one in the mid 2000s, the 90s was production based but had no real restrictions other then that so you had wild road car versions of these cars made just to meet the requirment, in 1999 they changed the rule and GTS became the top production based class but this time the car had to be more mainstream.

I agree completely...but this is where confusion sets in...because in the game your putting cars from different eras and classes on the same track...I think it's a decent idea to come up with a consensus on what each "class" means in the context of GT6

The pre-1999 GT1 and GT2 categories aren't comparable to those that came after. In fact, the 1998 GT2 class become GT1/GTS in 1999.
LMGTE/ALMS GT/GTLM cars are significantly more powerful than GT3 cars...
No, that's not true. Both classes usually run in the 450-500 hp range, depending on BoP.

well GT3 cars are going to be eligible the GTD class of the United SportsCar Championships...a lower class than the LMGTE/GTLM cars...

That claims the BRZ is at 300HP.

You got to keep in mind the aero levels of these cars is extremely high though, they may have modified it in the last year, but GT500 cars for example are producing close to LMP downforce but the lack of power and extra weight pushes them closer to what tge mid 2000s GT1 speed was(don't have a link but in 2005 i think it was the GT500s where lapping around .5 sec quicker around Suzuka despite 100hp less).

As I said, "depending on BoP". TUSC needs a lap time separation between GTE (or whatever they will call it next year) and GTD, so they'll be slowing down GT3 cars much more than they do in Europe/Asia. ADAC GT Masters and Super GT GT3 cars are as fast or faster than top GTE cars.

GT500s are faster than LMP2 and much much faster than mid-2000s GT1s.

Also, I explained earlier why the BRZ has much more than 300 hp. Those claims are false (how would they know anyway?) and downforce will only make GT300 cars slower on straights, yet they are faster than GT3 cars and not far off GT500 cars. You can't do that with 300 hp.

at the end of the day lets jump right to it...i love motorsports, but there are many who know a hell of a lot more than me...so im interested for the input here...gonna throw out a bunch of cars...im curious to see where you guys put them class wise...

Toyota GT-One
Nissan R390
Mercedes CLK-GTR
McLaren F1 GTR
Dodge/Chrysler Viper GTS-R (2000)
SRT Viper GTS-R (2013)
Chevrolet Corvette C5-R (2000)
Chevrolet Corvette C6.R (2013)

no no, i know what classes they RACED in during their day...but in the context of GT6...or this thread in particular...when someone says "im going to be focusing on GT1/GT2/GT3/etc type cars..." where do the above mentioned cars fall??...i can tell you where i would put them...but im looking for where YOU guys would put them...

They are different classes so you would need to modifiy them inorder to compete in a different class.
None of them would equal any of the classes above.

Speed wise
GT1= would.need to be purpose built chassis and have more aero to compete with LMP

GTS = would need power reduction to compete with GT3 by atleast 200hp

GTE = Similar speed to GT3(not quite sure don't know the regulations that well)

first 4 - GT1, second 4 - GT2

Pretty sure GTS class cars would Destroy GTE.

The term GT1, GT2, GT3 makes no sense unless you state what era of regulation you are going by.

this is kind of my point in asking this here...

We have done Super GT all through GT4 and 5. I think GT3 class racing will be more popular since it is new to the series, and that there are enough cars to have an actual GT class race, unlike GT5 where the only GT3 car was the R8 LMS.

I voted GT3. I was hoping for the BRZ GT300, PRIUS AND CRZ GT300 in GT6. I wonder if PD will have the GT3 cars in Super GT300 races. If they class them like the real races, then ill probably switch between the two as the series I race the most.

The BRZ will be added, the Full list isn't revealed yet though so keep in mind.

So since GT300 and GT3 are basically the same you could Have this once set up right(not including Base models):

Subaru SUBARU BRZ R&D SPORT '12
Audi R8 LMS - Team Oreca '10
Audi R8 LMS ultra (Audi Sport Team Phoenix) '12
Audi R8 LMS (Team PlayStation) '09
BMW Z4 GT3 '11
Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 '11
Autobacs ARTA Garaiya '08
Autobacs ARTA Garaiya '03
Nissan C-WEST RAZO SILVIA '01(if they make it better then the dog **** it is on GT5)
RE Amemiya Amemiya AsparaDrink RX7 '06
RE Amemiya AMEMIYA ASPARADRINK RX7 '04
Subaru CUSCO DUNLOP SUBARU IMPREZA '08
Subaru CUSCO SUBARU ADVAN IMPREZA '03

We had the N24 GT3 GTRs, but they are in different sub classes.

@mustafar

what about the 11 and 12 N24 :)

Basically, yes. But I think there is also some balancing to be done. The 2012 Audi R8 for example should be about 3 seconds faster on a 2 minute lap as the 2009 R8, if they are represented correctly in the game.
I think the same applies to the older GT300 cars which shouldn't be on pace with the new 2012 Subaru.

Those aren't GT3 cars. They raced in the SP8T class which is for modified turbo cars, that are closer to the production cars than the GT3s.

Voted for Super GT500. I want see some new SC430 & GT-R From 2011-2013 seasons, and some Honda HSV-010 '13 (with last spec aerodinamics too). But i want see also the first generations GT500, those from 1994-2000 years.
GT1 & GT2 was well equipped with those cars; i'd like to see in a near future :)

Yeah i would suspect a bit of adjustment is required, just like it is now with GT500 leagues, but they should work well together.

16 players
4 GT3
4 GT 300
4 tuned sport cars like Elise or Z4
4 Historic Race cars like the R8 Gordini

On Brands Hatch

= Iam in Love

Ps: are you guys sure that GT300 are same fast like GT3?? I dont think so. Some weeks ago i saw a 1.5 hour long video on youtube. It was a Super GT Race on Fuji with GT 500 GT 300 and GT3 cars.

The camera switched to the GT 300 class because there was a fight going on and then in the background you could see the GT 3 cars. After 1-2 laps they caught up and overtook the GT 300 cars. ( if i dont remember wrong)
