You know what I hate about 1st gen. is the red GT badge, it just look out of place on that car.

^ I've driven the Elantra GT 5-dr and the annonymous sedan back in 2002. Although that 'GT' badge looks more at home on a Tiburon. I definitely notice the difference in the handling department, I just didn't like the leathers on GT.

-> By far aside from the Genesis duo & Veloster, I'm liking the Elantra GT by a wide margin compared to my most ignored Sedan and the 'anti-Civic' Coupe.

I seem to remember Car and Driver saying of the GT (the original model) that it was a step in the right direction, and an indication where they were going, but that it was not a reasonable choice against other leaders in the market. It was long before Hyundai figured out how to do a proper engine or suspension, and I think you may be able to argue that it is still a similar issue to this day.

Between the Coupe and the GT, I think it is nice to have options available, but unless they fixed the floaty nature of the sedan, I can't say either will be a significant enough improvement to warrant a purchase. They'd need to strike some kind of middle ground between the standard Elantra GS and the waaaaaaay too stiff Forte SX.

Bought a '12 from one of the first shipments in November...already have 6000 miles on it, and it's a great car. The Active Eco system is also great piece of mind considering gas prices. Saving a lot of money in comparison to the Altima we had before.

It's just the base. We actually initially went to the dealer to buy a used Mazda 2, but they didn't want to finance it since I had an out of state driver's license... (That, or they weren't meeting sales goals. )

Turned out to be a nice little ride.

^ I (tried) to sat in the MZ2. I am a fan of small cars despite my 6'3 200lb frame, but the MZ2 is no MX-5 snug, its a (very) tight hatch to get in/out to. Although its a bargain for what it is, I'd stick to a used Fit (despite its awkward seating position).

I didn't even get to sit in it before I got the run around. I'm 6'3 myself. It's also quite a scam how much these dealers are selling used Honda Fits for.
