New Release Date Discussion

I've just come off the phone to SCEE and the news looks good. Release is 25th Feb or before, I will get a call back from them over the next few days to confirm. PAL, so far, will be released before North America. There will be more cars in the PAL version than the Japanese version.

although i hope that the PAL version does come fist for obvious reasons i find it hard to believe. For PAL they need to include all of european languages as well as convert it to PAL 50Hz format. Wheras for the US they only need to include English and the game is already in NTSC format (not sure if it differs from NTSC/J)

Should'nt the US NTSC version also have a Spanish option - since its such a widely spoken language in America?

English is the Main language in the US. Most of the people I know who speak other languages (spanish, french, chinese, japanese, russian, the list goes on and on) will also know how to speak english.

Around my way....it's really mixed. But we all speak english

So, Europe gets GT4 before us now, huh? Why am I not surprised?

The US launch is usually a North American launch, so I wouldn't be surprised if they included the Spanish Language in with every copy of GT4. Don't forget, there are a lot of Spanish speaking countries in North America.

Nah well the game store where I am getting the game did have the 30th up but now its just been changed to the 3rd. Anyway technically we get the same version as the UK so you could apply this so-called 22-25 Feb date to us.

my question is, wouldnt they have already translated it? They know from Day one exactly where this game will be released, so it only makes sense to translate the game during development. I simply don't buy the idea thatthe delay is purely b/c they are just now getting around to translating it. Something else it causing the delay(and no I am NOT suggesting the inclusion of online at all).

I agree:tup:. The original release date for Japan and the US was one day apart(Dec. 3/Dec. 4). That alone should tell you that they had already anticipated and averaged the amount of time it would take for translating, shipping, etc. Looks like the US version wont be out until another 2 to 4 months.

the norwegian playstation-site states the game should be out by the end of january.. a little optimistic, I guess... I demand my game in my console by the end of february.. that's a little more realistic.. ohhhh.. FWIW I work at a major electronics retailer in Norway. We just received confirmation today that the GT4 release date is March 2nd. Again, FWIW.

I just recv'd. an email regarding my pre-order from www.buy.com. They said "the expected release date is 02/15/2005".

My theory is that the US date is pushed back so much so that online support can be included..they needed time to fix the bugs in that, and the US market is the only major market that really demands having the online play..the other regions like it, but not as much as the NTSC market

Close but the the date that keeps on popping up for us aussies is 3/3/05 and every game shop i ask has said the same date so i guess if everyone keeps mentioning the same date then it must be best indication for a release(no one has said jan or feb for us,shame we have to wait so long, i hope PD puts 2P garage cars in arcade mode it is truly pathetic on PD`s half to remove the best part)

A friend of mine who works at Amazon distribution in Scotland (Greenock) says they already have GT4 PAL in stock, they are simply not yet allowed to release it yet untill SCEE says so. So far they say they'll be allowed to do so the 28th of Febuary.

Take this info as you want. I know that "I know a friend who..." isn't exactly reliable. I'm just relaying what I've heard.

The reason that SCEE is delaying the release like this is in my opinion so all shops get an equal chance to sell the game and not one sells it before another does. Only my guess thought.

Are you speaking of the PAL version? Because we don't have any US versions sitting in our stockroom. Our computer says that it isn't even supposed to ship to us BEFORE February 17.
