Wat a silly thread! PS3 has been out for less than 3 yrs, and u've already made a thread about PS4 releasing in 2010. You're not going to hear about PS4 development news until Sony gains enough profit from PS3, or until 5+ yrs of its life

lighten up

All PlayStation products have a 10 year life cycle. The PS3 was launched on November 2006. So that means that the PS3 is in its third year. We have a long way to go to see the PS4 hit stores across the globe.

We are still waiting for the PlayStation Motion Controller, 3D support and I'm sure there will be much more to come.

Most importantly, Sony has to lets us finish GT5!!!

Actually we have 2-3 years. Chances are they will do what they have done and overlap generations.

Well i guess i should start saving my quarters-dimes and nickels! Might have enough saved in three or so years!:sly:

:grumpy:

Rumors are the next console wont need discs. it's like a DLC but what do I know. Im really happy with the PS3 & I dont see Sony releasing a PS4 anytime soon.

1) The next generation won't be DL only as most people would rather have a physical game rather than a DL one.

2) The next generation of consoles should hit the shelves in 2012-2013. Sony will have to release a new console along with Microsoft and Nintendo or they will be left in the dust.

It won't be too long before you will only be buying games in a digital format.

I'd hate that. I like the physical, permanent and tangible nature of current cased games. They can quickly be installed on any PS3 (dl's from what I'm aware are non-transferable, so if your console breaks bad luck), and come with complimentary art and nice little instructions.

Now I hear its release will be in 2012. If anyone is planning to purchase the PS4 when it soon comes out, I would suggest you wait about a year or two, because there will most liely be some little problems with the first PS4s.

2012 is too soon, 70% of my friends still cant afford the PS3 so why would the PS4 come out anytime in the next few years. PS3 hasnt even met anywhere NEAR the best it can do. I would really love to know where your info comes from, link please.

No please, I still owe two years to the bank to pay for my PS3/G27 combo, so I wouldn't have money for a PS4 and GT7 until then.

The PS3 is adequate for most current needs.
I use mine as a media centre and would like to have had a much bigger hard drive option.

I'm not ready yet for the PS4, as I think the PS3 has a lot of untapped potential that developers are only just discovering.
However, when Sony do decide to bring it out, I hope they listen to this:

1)Don't bother with a web browser. Most people have PCs for that
2)Make it fully backwards compatible with PS2/PS3 games
3)Give us at least a 500GB HDD as standard
4)Still keep putting games onto blu-ray discs, but don't bother with blu-ray/dvd movie playback as I'm sure many people will have got standalone players
5)Take away all the photo storing/music playback/multi-media guff. It should be a games machine only. People can use their PC's for that.
6)Only make one socket on the back - an HDMI output. These days, playing games on anything other than an HD connection is pretty pointless. If you haven't got an HD telly then you are WAY behind the times.
7)Make it cheaper, and get it out quicker! The 360 damaged PS3's early sales because it was inexpensive and released before PS3. Unfortunately for those who got one, they soon found out that cheaper price/early release meant cheaply made/rushed construction. Over half of the early 360's developed problems, leaving Gates and Microsoft red-faced. Didn't stop fools from buying one though, and misguided developers making games for it.

fall 2011 beginning 2012 would be cool.
Till then i buy more and more games on pc again, like Mafia to squeze the graphs to the max.
And for the ps3 only exclusive (LBP2, Socom4, Gt5, move,....)

And i think they should stick to a media station. does everything. A lot of people preferred that compared to the xbox.
And the xbox only harmed sales in NA. The rest of the world didn´t jump on the hype wagon of MS.

1)Don't bother with a web browser. Most people have PCs for that But a lot of people like to have only a ps in the living room and watch stream over it.
2)Make it fully backwards compatible with PS2/PS3 games Yes please, but they probably don´t because of commercial ($$$) reasons
3)Give us at least a 500GB HDD as standard The little HDD lowers the price, make it upgradable that´s better, and the 2 versions is ideal
4)Still keep putting games onto blu-ray discs, but don't bother with blu-ray/dvd movie playback as I'm sure many people will have got standalone players But people don´t want to have 20 piece of equipement standing next to the tv
5)Take away all the photo storing/music playback/multi-media guff. It should be a games machine only. People can use their PC's for that. But it´s a cool feature that doesn´t cost them a lot and people still use it
6)Only make one socket on the back - an HDMI output. These days, playing games on anything other than an HD connection is pretty pointless. If you haven't got an HD telly then you are WAY behind the times. and leave the whole maket of sd tv out. Shoot in the knee!

it´s not like you´re wrong just wanted put out other people other needs

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=253757 if you want a 100$ price tag, it will happen when ps4 comes out

This whole idea that the PS4 will come out within the next 2 years is crazy. Both Sony and Microsoft are still finding the boundaries of their consoles. The latest rumors are the end of 2013 early 2014.

1. Who has the system software for more home pc's??? Google has already signed up with Sony and a new much better browser is on its way.
2. Rumors are that the PS3 will play PS4 games and visa versa. PS2 games for the PS3 are apparently a couple of months away through software emulation.
4. Thats just stupid.
5. Again revert to point 1. Sony 'and Microsoft for that matter' want to dominate the house hold. Consoles are the new pc's. They are easy to use multi-media machines. They are the future and its the reason why Sony and Microsoft have invested so much into them. Why have a PC, Console, Stand Alone DVD/BluRay player when you can have the whole lot in one. Its also a whole lot cheaper and more attractive then a complicated PC. A. No antivirus B. 1 click System updates.
6. Not everybody can afford a HD TV. It doesn't matter about the "Times" it matters about what people want and have. It is not that much more effort putting on the extra tv outputs then not putting them on. The software system setting of the PS3/PS4 will not change all that much. Just bigger, more powerful.
7. The PS4 will be cheaper and in reality could be released right now but branded as an add on to the PS3. If you haven't noticed, on the back of every PS3 is a 1gb ethernet cable. My source from Sony Tells me that it may be an option for the future in adding a box that sits underneath the ps3 which contains several more cell processors and bigger graphics cards.

I never used my PS3 for watching movies, or accessing the internet. All my photo's are stored on my laptop.
I can see where you are coming from though. If the PS4 was packaged with a keyboard, a mouse, and a blu-ray remote, then I may be tempted to stop using my PC and do it all through my console. But as I said, it needs to have a decent sized HDD as standard. Game installs these days can be as big as 5GB. If you had only 12 games in your collection that did that, then the launch 60GB model would be used up!
But your comment about the HD TV. A decent 32" LCD tv isn't really that much to splash out. How many people would rather stick with their old CRT low-res displays when they can easily - and relatively cheaply - upgrade? My brother recently upgraded his 360's display to an HDMI connection from is old CRT tv. He agreed that to not do it is plain daft. If you can afford a new console one month, then you can afford a new TV the next month. The games that are being released these days, if played on an old low-res CRT display, can have scores/numbers/letters/maps etc very difficult to make out.
You say that it isn't about moving with the times, but if you knew someone who was still watching VHS movies on a black and white TV, would you not think that was a bit....well.....strange?

Indeed

I think Sony should make the PS4 powerful, yet developer friendly because with all the graphics advances we will end up with 10+ year development cycles for games.

This is why the PS3 still has plenty life of it left. It just takes a while to release a game that can use the PS3 to most of its potential.

Good list! #10. Built in cell- phone. Man, that would be one heavy sucker to carry around when you got a call. Also, #8. Make it cheap and affordable., that would be nice! The starting price would probably be $1800. Hey, don't know if I will even purchase a PS4, maybe?

*shakes head* Nah, the starting price has always been $500-$600. Even the PS2 started out at $500. But, we've got another price drop before the PS4 becomes available. I believe both the PS1 and PS2 were at the $200 mark when their successors came out. And then, about a year or two later, they drop to $100. :P I think the PS2 is $50 now, though.

But, I don't expect a gaming system over $1000. And, if it comes out before the HVD stuff arrives, then It'll probably just have multiple Cell proccessors in it. or a refined version of the Cell. And if it's just going to feature refined technology, it might end up being the cheapest next-gen console.

I know people that still watch and record on VHS. I don't even think you can pick up a Black and white TV anymore so that rules that out.

I know several people that have saved up for well over a year for a ps3 so buying another tv is a big ask. Especially when you can still get big CRT'S for 1/4 of the price. Yes new TV's are not that expensive to you and me, but there are people in this world they are for, and its not that much more of a stretch for sony to implement the lead plug in. It doesn't affect your console now as it is anyway.

You also forget alot of people use CRT'S for spare or children's bedrooms.

If PS4 was to come out this fall 2010 I would want it bundled with GT6 and in full version not prolouge. :sly:

Hmmm... I only a couple of suggestions regarding the PS4. It should have at least 4gb of ram, maybe they could tie that fact in with the console name? 💡

It should also have at least two of the very latest GPUs; Perhaps keep their inclusion until the very last minute, so as to have the latest and greatest available.

Finally, more cell processors!

Maybe this is too advanced for the PS4, but I have been wondering... When is AI, real artificial intelligence going to make its appearance in a home console? It could be possible one day, to create a games console that would have AI built into the system.

Developers would then not have to worry about creating complicated AI as the console would play the game just as we would. I think that AI in gaming is the next step forward beyond the processing power of the system itself. 👍

you mean GT5? But yeah. GT5's coming out in Fall, and it'd be a little crazy if PS4 came out at the same time. If that happened, I think GT5 would be a GT4 launch title.

But...PS4 needs to be Backwards compatible and STAY backwards compatible. They need to bring that back to the PS3.

No I meant GT6 since it would be a ridiculous idea for PS4 to come out why not GT6 to make things more ridiculous. It was meant to be sarcastic. :sly:
