So i haven't been on:gtplanet: for a few days and the first thing i see is course maker released! first i thought was yay about 🤬 time. Then i read its tablet/mobile device...ok. then no where does it actually say what it's called to look it up in said device. I then come across the link within the article. Good until "your device isn't compaitable with this app"

So after excitedly preordering GT6 purely for the promise of said (hyped up to the max) whiz-bang course creator and almost 2 year wait for the feature after promising to be released shortly after released. I agree that PD can go where most have said.... INDEFINITELY.

So instead of potentially come home and jumping back onto GT6 after what has probably been a year seperation. I instead will be searching for my receit and seeking a full refund for this :censored:ing piece of 🤬 game! Never to return to GT again after growing up with it as a life friend of entertainment. :grumpy::mad:

What would be PD's answer to the question " What if I don't own an Tablet? I guess it would be something like "The PC version is coming soon".

More like - What's a PC, you mean an (overpriced crap) Apple/iOS

Er, yeah. Good luck on returning a 22 month old game and expecting a full refund. Let us know how it goes.

Luckily Australia has decent consumer laws and i beleive i have a fairly decent chance.

1. Features have been released in an unreasonable time.
2. No where did it say at the time of my purchase that the features require additional hardware to utilise. To a reasonable person it is forseable that purchasing a PS3 game, it's features would work on a PS3. That is within reason for a refund.

EDIT:

https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/consumer-rights-guarantees/repair-replace-refund

Read "replacements and refunds" and "what is a major problem?"

For me this just one of their typical communication failures. If they would have stated from the beginning it would be released as a tablet app (which was perfectly possible), people would been less pissed off now
You are 100% correct. PD is way, way, way wrong for doing this to their loyal fans. As if waiting almost two years wasn't painful enough, I can't imagine the heartbreak and anger some of you must feel who will never be able to enjoy creating your own tracks. PD should have made this known back in 2013. That way, while I'm sure many people would still be bitchin', at least PD could say "We told you it would require additional hardware".

I really feel awful for the people who are unable to use the Track Maker. Yes, there are workarounds to get the Android app running on a PC, but I'm quite certain that not everybody is technically proficient in doing those types of things and to be honest, they shouldn't have to hack the track editor in order to use it.

I'm so glad I don't care about this feature, (I didn't in GT5 either) but I do feel for you guys that have waited this long for what looks like a BIG kick in the fun bags.

But I thought I'd give it a go anyway.

OK people moaning about tablet only, I have it working on my galaxy S5 mini so YES it does work with phones, but still !! Should've been on PS3 aswell.

Personally I cant see where I put things as my finger is in the ****ing way, I think a mouse / pad would've been easier with a little icon on screen or use a stylus.

As for the course maker itself hmmmm, can't elevate individual sections of track, can't decrease / increase the width of individual sections of track, no bridges so you can't make figure of eight tracks & the maps are..... well bland, but hey you can drive on a giant penis.

So just like the game itself PD have taken some bit's away that should've stayed from the previous version & made a complete hash of the new product which has taken them 2 year's to **** up :)

Back to testing / tuning at Suzuka.

Edit: tracing a real life track is a good feature executed badly, however I did have some success of recreating Istanbul Park & I noticed a version number so maybe PD might update it as time goes on but who knows.

Overall not for me (same as GT5) enjoy :)

So after fully testing the Course Maker and driving on a few tracks, I conclude - it seems that it's still not enough to make me really come back to GT6. Still can't play it for more than an hour straight. Yeah I know, it's my problem, but GT6 just can't keep me interested anymore, even though its car choice is really good, its track roster is just as good and whatnot.

It's strange how I'd play it dead at release and now it's just... dull-ish...? :indiff:

It's not only this whole Course Maker issue that makes me shake my head at PD, though. As you probably know, some sounds have been updated ('improved' is a bit of a stretch here). There is one example of this that is beyond stupid. Namely, modern V8 Ferraris - F430 and 430 Scuderia, whose previous sounds were clearly different, now share their samples with the Enzo and the 458.

Let it sink in - that's 3 V8 cars and 1 V12 car that sound exactly the same. News flash, PD - as is the case with modern Lamborghinis (5 cars with the same sound sample, V10 vs V12 at that), it doesn't work that way and feels lazy to say the least. Why would they even do that? I'm actually wondering whether or not this particular Ferrari case is an accident.

Nothing and nobody is gonna convince that PD know what the absolute hell they are doing anymore.

I wonder what, if any, legal ramifications there are about this. The official website from launch described the course maker as a future update. As time went on without it, Famine assured us once it must still be coming because it would be fraudulent if it didn't.

However, an out-of-game "app" for other devices than the PS3 is not an update. It's a companion to the game, but not an update. The only update was the track importer.

I'm sure there's some fine print that excuses PD from litigation, and while I anticipated the feature all this time as well only to be one of those unable to use it, I certainly wouldn't consider bringing suit against them about it. Far more serious problems in this world need attention. I was just wondering, is all.

It's really not a hack though, you can go from Zero to a working Track Path Editor in a few minutes if you have a PC and an account with Google play. No specialist knowledge required. I don't disagree it's a limiting factor for some, but assuming you have a PC, and have had an android device sometime in the last couple of years it's no trouble.

Sig worthy.

Oh, but you can drive the hipster SP1! That one still has the old 4.3 V8 sample. Vintage. Makes perfect sense, right?

...Man, ever since the release of Course Maker I mean "track path editor" thingy this thread exploded. My alert box's full to the brim!!

Good reading material - thanks for the laughs. đź‘Ť

As does the Maserati Granturismo...
I actually forgot that the SP1 is a thing in GT6.

I refuse to believe that PD ever cared about what people think about them.

They completely ignore fan input. They get manufacturers to design cars specifically for their game, but can't get more real cars at the same time. They keep releasing half-assed patch notes to each consecutive update, and we need to find out some of the changes on our own. They think it's okay to make 4 cars sound the same. And then they have the audacity to limit the Course Maker to tablets only.

I can't even start to wonder what the world looks like from their offices.

I gotta laugh at how limited this path editor is, This is the best they could do? I bought the game soley for this because without PD mentioning this feature i would not have bought gt6 after my thoughts on gt5. I bought it on psn for ÂŁ60 and on disc for me nephew. money welll spent just to take up space on my HDD and for a coaster.

2 years we've been waiting lol, I'm now of the mind that when they announced this thet hadnt even started on it hence why its taken this long. There is surely no way that this was coming out soon after the launch of gt6 and the 2 extras years of work they put into it is what we have today!?

So i have a couple questions, Can you drive your local route and transfer it in to the game like was advertised (im asking because i dont want people to let PD of the hook from their obligations).

Can you make a track 10 times the size of the ring like kaz said we'd be able to?

Cant remember my other questions lol apart from this one, How many muppets are going to blindy buy GT7 now?

No to both questions. Like I said, it's just a slightly upgraded version of GT5's course maker.

Did anyone calculate rough terrain size numbers already? If I remember correctly Kaz' final promise was 10x10km, I'm not sure since he kept going down after his intial 100x100km claim.

Kaz -
“Going by the latest info I’m getting from our development staff, it might end up being closer to 20×20. That is still very large – the Nurburgring is about 5×5 kilometers in the game, so it is quite a lot of space.”

I visit gtplanet to read the news but rarely contribute to the forums. If truth be told I just cannot abide the many whiny-faced infants that proliferate around them. Every time I dip in it's full of why-oh-why-oh-why is Polyphony / Sony / the world so rubbish / lazy / unfair to me with added stampy feet.

The above post is a case in point when it comes to comically over-the-top hyperbole. Let's pick out some of the language used: painful, heartbreak, anger, I feel awful for. This poster is not talking about the victims of the college shooting or the Syrian refugee crisis; rather he's discussing a free update that's come to a 2 year old game which isn't quite designed in the way he might want it. And it really should be done his way because he knows about such things, oh yes.

As someone who used to make games I'm all for constructive discussion and criticism around their design. Some people here undoubtedly take that approach, but there's an awful lot who adopt such a ridiculous tone that they're more likely to be sent to bed early than have their opinion taken the least bit seriously.

You're in the wrong thread too. This is exactly the place for people to post things like what you quoted. It's not about being rational, it's about venting.

If you don't want to read it, don't come into the epic whining and crying thread. The title is a bit of a give away as to what you'll find inside.

If you really feel you must complain about the complainers, go and find one of the people who are doing it in any of the other threads about the course maker. Instead of the one thread on the entire site that is specifically for what you're complaining about.

Now that the CM is released, it's clearer to me what Kaz meant by the dimensions. And yes, everyone misunderstood and/or it wasn't explained/translated well. C'est la vie.

I'll tell you now, Translator-san is really very good at his job. Whatever Kaz said, he probably translated it faithfully, as every time I've been able to hear the Japanese alongside he's done a spectacular job of giving an accurate English translation. It's impossible to be flawless as an interpreter, he's working on the fly at least to some extent, but he's damn close.

If it was misunderstood, it's because Kaz didn't explain properly. Perhaps intentionally so.

Explain it to the rest of us and we'll all know.:sly:

It seems to me the total area in each of the CM templates are large enough to be around 20x20 km (I can't be 100% sure). He may have been referring to the total space available in which to work, and not the ability to fill the entire space with track.

I don't know, maybe PD had ambitiously planned for this huge space for incredibly long tracks but it didn't work out. You never know, maybe the CM size and flexibility will increase in future updates or in GT7 (or soon). :P

The total area of the drivable areas on all the themes together is the equivalent of a square about 13m a side. Death Valley is about 3x4, the Eifels are 8x8 each, and Andalusia is a weird shape but is about 5x6. About 170sqkm total.

Close-ish to 20x20, but not that close. 20x20 is 400sqkm, and even being generous we've only got about half that.

If they'd wanted, they probably could have got it close by giving us Death Valley Flat and Andalusia Flat as well. Not entirely sure why they didn't, it couldn't have been much more work once the whole system, skyboxes and props were already in place.

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure why they're the size they are anyway, but I suspect that they're loading the entire area when you drive it. Which is amusingly daft, but then they're not using LOD on anything that's not a car as far as I can tell either, and that's hilariously daft. :D

...I'm all for constructive discussion and criticism...

Well that's your problem right there; this is the "Whining and Crying" thread, not the "Constructive Criticism" thread. This is a place for people who are passionate about Gran Turismo to blow off some steam without being vilified for it. What did you expect? There are plenty of other threads on GTP that offer constructive criticism if that's what you're looking for.

I just don't understand how some people take this course maker matter so lightly, even if i had a tablet compatible i would be mad in the same way and wouldnt even use it either way, it is supposed to be in ps3 and not other platforms, i bought the game for ps3 not for tablets.

they released something that is not for all, is just for those that have a tablet compatible.

I had a big rant all thought out but honestly, do i even NEED to start?
I'm just going to use a movie qoute and call it a day.
"That's that Bullcrap! That's that Bullcrap!"
The End.
