But with the relegation of Pluto, we gain a new family of orbiting bodies, of which Pluto is one of the kings. Instead of being the runt of planets.

You are right! But man this is GTPlanet...Gran Turismo Planet, not about Planets!! :dopey:

Let´s go back to the topic because this thread could be closed soon...very very soon if we keep with this talk.

It was quite cool though. We know something more now at least. ;)

Since when Australia is a continent?

Australia is a country in a continent called "Oceania" where you have tons of islands, New Zealand, etc...go tell a Zealander that he lives in Australia...lol

That's right, Australia is a single country totally apart from other archipelagic nations such as New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia(originally the country is composed of a hoard of small islets so the number of countries with which are adjacent in-land is quite small), Vanuatu, Samoa and two, so putting the inhabitants in those remote islands all together is inept.

Antarctica is taken by a continent as well.

Yes, it's a single continent asunder from populous continents like Oceania, and Eurasia of course - which are both set within boundary areas from the equator.

Europe is not a region and not a part of it...is a whole continent alone and Asia is other continent. Both united form Eurasia but is not taken as a whole continent.

Eurasia is literally the aggregate of two particular regions of the world(Asia and Europa, in which accounts for mostly the geographic portion defined to be "Asia" - including eastern Asia, Southeastern(some of where subsumed as part of Oceania at times), southern, central, far eastern part of Russia and lastly the western Asia comprising till the marginal locality of Turkey and the Suez canal in Egypt.

I also read one thing right now and that´s why "we are confused", and that is that in some countries where people speak in English (USA, Canada, UK) and despite the language in China as well, at school they learn continents in a different way than in the rest of the world. (not sure why, maybe because you want to feel special, not a clue really...lol)

Not only the case of the definition for classifying the exact segments of the new continent, but also in some other instances some do make improper judgments which for some other countries are dubious or hard to understand - for prevailing ignorance toward accurate local physiognomical stuff.

But I was born in Uruguay and now I live in Spain, and in both countries we learn this way: America (divided in 3 parts/regions, South, Centre and North), Europe, Asia, Africa, Oceania (Australia as a country which is in it) and Antarctica.
So for "us" there are 6 counting Antarctica.

This way of classification does justice especially for you guys who reside in countries that share a common language(being Spanish) and similar historical windfalls henceforth owning more profound acquaintance as to indigenous matters.

Eurasia is called that way because both continents (Europe and Asia) are in the very same tectonic plate. So in conjunction you can call them a whole continent but tell that to an European or a guy from Asia...lol
Also as a reference, Turkey has a famous city called Istambul (the former Byzantium and then Constantinople)...which is known because is "divided" in 2 parts...one is in Europe and one in Asia.

The "Eurasia" is a conjunct land of two potions of the world so admittedly they have in common a geographical proximity each other - whilst they have individually followed on a different path of history as well as the racial difference of local settlers, without exception to culture influenced by that. so the sense of value, and everything else appertaining in humankind's notions is different. That's why they both cringe at being set down to as people of identical identity belonging in the same part of the world.

Also one more huge reference...the Olympics. The symbol of the Olympics are 5 rings and each one of them represent 5 continents which are: America, Europe, Asia, Africa and Oceania. (Antarctica is not represented of course since there is no country to take part from there)

It goes without saying, as you overtly know, that Antarctic is an uninhabited part of the earth(short of researchers sojourning for investigation) and to take the precedence it's not a country, so it has no business being among the list of stringers.

Let´s hope to see a guy from Australia say something about this because this is a mess...I can´t believe we (people from the very same world) learn different stuff just because we speak different or live in a different part of the world.

This is so wrong...

That's what makes the aspect look more interesting, you can not push them to learn things in the same way as you do whatsoever for predominant divergence of rudimentary standpoints...

From a discussion on Gran Turismo 6 at the Tokyo Game Show, to a geography debate on continental boundaries. This is probably the most far off-topic I have seen any thread on GTPlanet in thirteen years.

Take it to the Opinions forum, guys, or this will get shut down and warnings/infractions will be handed out.

Could all have been been avoided if Polyphony, you know, released some information.
