Facile arguments all round, sadly. You can cheat in GT5 (for now anyway) to progress more quickly, it's called duping. I never said there's anything "immoral" about using cheats either, you made that up out of thin air. But for people to claim they have been ripped off because they can't unlock all the cars within 3 months of release is ridiculous.
I also never said you had no right to criticise GT (again you imagined that too), my beef was with you crying that there are fans of GT5 on a GT-dedicated forum. Well duh. It's all too easy to mark them all off as fanboys isn't it? And yes per my other post I do find it odd that people join a dedicated forum just to knock a game, you don't see that so much in things like band forums, where typically you are more likely to find people who enjoy the band and want to share the experience. Don't be criticising those people.
Also they are updates, not "patches", some minor issues were fixed but they are changes to the game, not fixed for fundamental bugs because unlike many other games/patches, there are actually very little in the way of true "bugs". Just because you don't like something doesn't make it a bug, son.
Lastly, I love a lot of racing games, all different types, I loved Forza too though only played the first one. And I wish a few things were different about GT also and think PD made some odd decisions, as well as some that are really their call and not for me to imply it should have been done differently based on how *I* might do it. This does not make me an "insane fan" but if you want to keep falling back on that (see above) just keep going, it will wear out eventually.
I would be interested to know if you actually play GT5 or just bash it on here. I'm guessing you don't play it or like it at all, it being such a "mess" and all, so you just bash away at it in a dedicated forum. Sad.
Let's see...
Why it's ridiculous to drive the cars in the game you bought? If GT5 had a good progression and career mode it wouldn't be a problem. But it doesn't! Employing tactics like:
- Rubberband Grinding
- B-Spec 24 Races
- Remote B-Spec Races
- Running multiple times oval races with the most overpowered car to gain the most ammount of money in the least ammount of time
- Birthday Glitching
- Duping
are all workarounds that people in this forum use to have a chance to drive the cars of this game. If you don't use any of this you may forget driving any of the expensive cars in this game in the next 10 years! Do you find career progression rational in GT5? I don't, I find it ridiculous! You said it is ridiculous to expect to drive the cars of this games in 3 months! Wasn't GT5 advertised that it contains 1000+ cars? I expect to be able to at least buy the most expensive ones in a reasonable amount of time, that is in less than 3 months! You don't consider 3 moths a reasonable amount of time to be able to buy the Ferrari 330P4 without playing every day of the week? Then we have a completely different idea on what is gaming...
Do I use any of this tactics, I mentioned? No, I only use duping because it takes the least amount of time! I don't plan on
playing forcing punish myself to grind through B-Spec!
But I would prefer to be able to unlock all cars in Arcade mode! I am playing GT5 for about 2 months,
in other racing games I would be able to drive most cars in Arcade mode! PD doesn't allow that, instead they are going to make duping so difficult and time consuming that I don't find worth doing anymore!
About fans...
I am aware that this a GT fan-site. But in my opinion it's one thing to be a fan and a completely another to be a blind follower!
For example many here behave like that:
- PD introduces gifting in GT5: "Great job PD, you are the best!"
- PD limits gifting: "Great job PD, you are the best!"
- PD temporarily removes gift limit: "Great job PD, you are the best!"
- Whatever they do: "Great job PD, you are the best!"
- To all the others: "Why are you criticizing PD? They are the best and everything they do is the best!"
Do you find this behavior rational? Check out the poll on this forum! 40% of the voters thing that it's a good thing that PD limits/takes-way a feature that was in the Game and people were using and praising! They are happy that PD makes the game more limiting! This is blind-faith in my book!
You distinction between updates and "patches" is wrong otherwise "Windows Update" would be called "Windows Patches"! The same for Mac OS X and Linux! Updates or minor-versions fix bugs/problems with a program and introduce minor enhancements! New/Major versions introduce new features!
What we have seen till now (and what we will continue to see) in GT5 are minor versions! Unless of course you consider Seasonal events with their much higher payouts a feature and not an attempt at a fix for the awful career progression! Or the so-called updated AI (I haven't seen it) a feature and not a bad attempt at a fix. Remote races could be a new feature, but since it doesn't introduce a new gameplay element it's in reality a new grinding opportunity.
But I am not irrational, I don't expect new features in GT5! I don't believe for example that standard cars will ever be updated to premium! But I would like some fixes, like better shadows, better smoke effects, better tire balance, better career progression etc. But what do we get in return in 1.07? More limits and more restriction in the car gifting system! Or do you consider limiting gifting a feature? OK then, have fun with the new feature...
Lastly you doubt that I even play GT5....
I bought GT5 expecting to become extremely disappointed by the handling of the cars but it would at least have good graphics. On the contrary I found the graphics to be mediocre to bad but I found the handling of some cars to be exceptional. I was pleasantly surprised with GT5!
But the more I played I found more problems in GT5 like lack of mechanical damage, not enough credits, bad AI. Then with some fixes like seasonal events and save-game-backup I managed to purchase some good cars in GT5 and have some more fun. But while the handling was great I found the racing to become more and more sterile and boring. I have stopped playing GT5 for some time and I was hoping for an update that would fix some graphical glitches and introduce an option to drive all cars since it's the only thing I find fun in GT5.
Instead we got more restriction, limits and "new features" like Remote Races that have nothing to do with driving! So I guess that's the end of GT5 for me and the only reason I post (but won't continue to do so) is because I once had fun with GT5 and I was hoping it could get better with some simple fixes!
I have moved on to better, more fun racing games, that don't try to limit what I can do, they don't take away features, they don't force me to grind to drive some decents cars. And thankfully even better games are coming!
And in my opinion GT5 is a mess because PD is spending development time on B-Spec, Remote Races, Car-Gift-Limits and doesn't fix the graphical glitches, doesn't enhance the driving/racing mechanics of the game, nor do they introduce a way to get away from the awful grinding!
