What is the best car ever in Gran Turismo?

I think I was maybe 12 or 13 years olds when i complete the challenge at Nurburgring, and since that, the nurburgring and the mercedes 190 become one of my favorite cars. Thats why I drive one everyday xD

And the Daihatsu Midget II, the Murder Midget is the best car I have on GT6.

Was going on memory, figured that much though or maybe I never played 1.
 
I could never pick just one, each Gran Turismo has a unique roster of cars (except for GT5/6 which are very similar for obvious reasons).

In GT1 the holy grail for me was the Castrol Tom's Supra, with the Viper GTS following in a close second. The Viper was really one of a kind in that game, no production car produced that much power stock and it made it very special.

GT2, which is my favorite game in the series for its incredibly diverse selection, had so many great cars. Somebody already mentioned the Skyline Silhouette, but there were countless others like the Toyota GT-One and Alfa 155 Touring Car, and lots of amazing fictional touring cars like the Altezza LM and the S2000 GT1. And then there were the crazy oddities like the Ford GT90 and of course the Espace F1.

GT3 had the 787B which was amazing to me as a little kid learning about the history of racing for the first time. GT4 added to that with many more group C prototypes, and in short time that became my favorite era of motorsports.

My favorite car in GT5 was probably the Ferrari F40, and I don't think that's changed in GT6 although I've really been enjoying the Senna formula cars and the group B Quattro. Even though I appreciate having a massive selection like we've had in the last couple games, I can't deny that having so many makes each individual one less special.

That's only one of them, the touring car. I no like cars for racing, only LFAs and 97Ts.
 
GT1-6: Subaru Impreza WRC
One of my favourites ever since Demo One came with my dad's PlayStation. It's probably the first car I drove in any racing game!

GT2: A tie between the GTOne Road Version, Espace F1 or Dodge Concept LM (aka Copperhead)

GT3: Only recently bought this and haven't really got very far. The Polyphony 001 and 002 were fun when I played someone else's copy though.

GT4: The FGT and Black Edition R92Cp were fantastic

GT5: F2007 and F10 are sorely missed. Sure they could only race eachother, but they were fantastic.
My Stratos (Ferrari) powered Fiat 500 is also missed.

GT6: Lotus 97T, Ralt F3 and all of the new Ferrari's
 
Mary Pozzi's '73 Camaro is just so right.
 
I cannot pick just one but the following are my favourites:

TOYOTA GT-ONE RACE CAR (GT4) as it looks, goes and sound great unlike the GT5/6 abomination.
FERRARI 458 ITALIA sends a chill down my spine with that awesome sound and I love the handling where you feel like you are on the brink but have the confidence to push on.
PEUGEOT 908 HDI FAP is just a monster performer. It is also an endurance car which is my favourite racing discipline.
MITSUBISHI GTO LM EDITION (GT1) posted above by @Azure Flare will always be on my list as it was the first full-on race car I bought in GT1. I still remember hovering my finger over Buy and cautiously pressing down. I blew all my money on it, in gold / yellow, and was desperately hoping I didn't make a huge mistake. I didn't... and what a machine!

Other very notable cars are the Lexus LF-A, Audi R18 TDI and WSR F3.

Threads like this make you recall thing you probably would not think of so reminiscing for this was great.

As has been mentioned in half the posts the 97T is very nice and I like it a lot. The F10/F2007 from GT5 were nice too.

GT3 had some great Formula cars, the FGT variations were very slick, GT3 was a bombshell game in its day. I remember playing that when I was a kid, all summer long in the heat, making my thumbs ache on the old PS2 controller D-pad buttons because the stick wasn't as accurate for me.
 
I am in love with Mazda Eunos Roadster (NA Special Package) after appropriate tuning and setting. Now the car is running on Comfort Medium tyre, and power was slightly tuned up to around 160HP, and with weight down to around 870kg. Now with this power to weight ratio, the acceleration becomes faster significantly, and the turning is a lot sharper after setting of suspension and LSD. Now the car can do both grip and drift on the same setting, so it can be challenging to drive it. However to drive it good involves some efforts to be paid which makes the car very fun to me. I feel that I connect with it when driving it through seeing from the monitor.
 
Dodge Concept car LM from Gran Turismo 2 (Based on the Dodge Copperhead concept car).
... That thing was badass, and I loved the way it looked. Still my all-time favourite car out of all GT games.
 
Wow, I thought this thread was gonna be lame but it brought back so many good memories:

The FTO, Cerbera LM, Del Sol LM, M3 CSL, 190E, S2000 LM ...

One more car I remember from GT4. Not the "best ever" but great fun to drive: Audi A3 1.8T
Sadly it was only the 1.8 version that handled great. The right amount of lift off oversteer. The 3.2 that's in the game now suffers from the typical 4WD understeer :(

So for the best car ever I nominate the M3 CSL.
 
Toyota Minolta 88-CV race car and Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak are two undeniable staples of the "best Gran Turismo car" contest. 👍

GT3: Mazda 787B
GT4: BMW M5 (E60)
GT5P: Ferrari F40
GT5: McLaren F1
GT6: Ferrari 288 GTO

Including DLC though, the Lotus 97T would have to be there.
 
Corvette Zr1 (c6) LM-race car 09. One of if not the meatiest sounding cars in the game.

My all time favorites are the FTO LM, Cerbera LM and the Speed 12

*First 4. GT3 & 4 both had pretty unique cars, such as the GT3 F1 cars, the 1886 Motor Carriage in GT4, the Nike ONE 2022, the Toyota Motor Triathlon Concept car, the Ford Model T. I reallllly miss those cars... :nervous:

This has been my favorite car in GT since GT3. Winning this car after the GT3 Mercedes event was such an epic experience I will never forget.

GT1: Can't say as I've never gotten far in that game. I started my GT career with GT3.

GT2: The TAURUS SHO NASCAR and the Vectors. Pure badass.

GT3: SVT Cobra R, Evo VI T.M.E, and 22B STi. For some reason even though I got GT3 first I never really progresses in that game. Must've been like 7 or 8 at the time.

GT4: Ford GT LM Spec II and Chaparral 2D. Putting the transmission on the 2D to like 300+ and then going on Like the Wind was hilarious.

GT5: McLaren F1 turned into an LM. Only car in that game that I recall driving more than 1,000 legit miles plus I bought it on my B-Day.

GT6: JPM's Gen-6 NASCAR, Lotus 97T turned into a 98T, and the spoon CR-Z.
