What is the best car ever in Gran Turismo?

My favourive and / or IMO best:
GT1: Subaru Impreza WRX Wagon '94 (my first car in GT1), Nissan Skyline GT-R R33, Mitsubishi GTO
GT2: Suzuki Escudo (it was a killer, not a car)
GT3: Mazda 787B, Polyphony001 (F1 car from PAL version)
GT4: Nissan R92CP, Toyota 88C-V Minolta
GT5: Audi R8 Race Car '01 (LMP1), slightly tuned Audi R8 5.2 '09, tuned Nissan 300ZX '89, ~1000hp tuned Viper GTS '02
GT6: I don't have it yet...

Winning the "endurance" race at Rome gets you the GTO LM edition '99 wich came in white or turquoise blue. The GTO shown in your picture is the ordinary GTO LM edition obtainable once you golded the IC licence and it came in yellow or lilac colour. Hope it helps.

I have never played any GT game before GT5, so I don't have much experience with the franchise, but I will say that one of the greatest cars I've had a chance to drive is the premium NA Mazda MX-5 (Without the wooden steering wheel. I forgot the official name). It is such a fun car to thrash around tracks like the Nurburgring. It is not the fastest car in the game, but it has character and it is a true joy to drive.

heres my opinion on what I think is the best cars in Gran Turismo

my top 10 are
2002 Lotus Esprit V8 the reason being that you don't need to spend over 100,000cr to make it quick.
2006 Corvette Zo6 (C6) for the similar reason don't need to spend money to make it fast its all about how you drive it
2011 Audi R18 TDI its just a fantastic handling race car and has a lot of power
2011 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 for obvious reasons it handles like a gem
2013 SRT Viper GTS real fun to drive and can kick it sideways and still keep it straight without spending money on tuning it.
2002 Honda NSX Type-R very cool to drive and have loads of fun with it
2014 Corvette Stingray (C7) awesome car full stop
1969 Camaro Z28 once tuned up even just a slight even up to 497hp you can beat pretty much anything with it and its a classic muscle car who doesn't like them
2012 Subaru Impreza NBR pretty much a perfect rally and track car
2008 Volkswagen Scirocco GT24 amazing grip and damn cool to drive

this is just my opinion on what I think are the best Gran Turismo cars for me

The best car ever doesn't imply my favourites. So on that basis I think I'll say which cars were the signifiers of in-game dominance.

GT1: Dodge Concept Car. An eggplant purple glitch (typo?) that is simply too good if you can get it to obey GT1's physics.
GT2: The Escudo. Nothing needs to be said on that.
GT3: The Escudo. Again. But it was nerfed. So the F cars are up there.
GT4: The Toyota 88C-V was the most easily accessible of the Le Mans racers, and one of the fastest.

GT5 and 6's Red Bulls make that a walkover, but there's not much to determine the best below that, since the Red Bulls are a very special case.

Of these, the Concept Car was the most insane for sure, but in terms of pure 'best'ness, GT2's Escudo is the one.

I would say the Lister Storm race car. The road car was in GT2 and you could get racing modifications that turned it into the one that dominated the British GT. It's been in Gran Turismo ever since.

In GT2 I think the Lotus Elise, I was only 3 or 4 when I got it and always enjoyed that car! GT5 probably the Nissan 300ZX, don't know why I liked it so much, but I could beat almost anything with it. In GT6 its a toss up between the Louts 97T and the Huayra, both extremely fast, will kill you if you get it wrong, but the most rewarding when you get it right in those two

Personally, the Mazda 787B. From GT4 to now, there has been, in my opinion, no experience like launching it down the Mulsanne straight, except maybe driving the Lotus 97T at Monza in the rain.
