Forza 6 Goes Modern with April’s Top Gear Car Pack

The most widely-watched “factual” show in the world returns next month with a whole new cast, and to celebrate, Turn 10 and Top Gear have teamed up for this month’s Forza 6 pack. The new hosts apparently hand-picked the additions, which is handy, as there are seven personalities. As one would expect with the BBC show sponsor, the pack leans heavily towards new metal compared to previous collections, with six of the seven cars being two years young or newer:

  • 2016 Audi R8 V10 plus
  • 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat
  • 2014 Ferrari FXX K
  • 2016 Jaguar F-Type Project 7
  • 1990 Jaguar XJ-S
  • 2015 Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR
  • 2016 Rolls-Royce Dawn

The Top Gear car pack will arrive at 17:00 GMT today, and as the first pack released outside of the Car Pass, will cost $6.99 for all players. Each individual car can also be purchased on its own, and we’ll explore each in a bit more detail below.

FM6-2014-Ferrari-FXX-K

Arguably the star of the pack, the FXX K joins the rarified group of 1000+ horsepower cars already in Forza 6. Based on the La Ferrari, the FXX K is a rarified track toy for dedicated tifosi, the third car in the experimental XX program. Capable of generating over one thousand pounds of downforce at top speed – not to mention lapping Fiorano a staggering five seconds faster than the car it’s based on – the La Ferrari is sure to be a challenge for players looking to set fast laps.

FM6-2016-Audi-R8-V10-plus

The Audi R8 has matured into its second generation, growing into a full-fledged supercar. The 2016 model matches its stable-mate, the Lambo Huracán, with 602hp. Often regarded as a sort of modern-day NSX thanks to its marriage of performance and usability, the angular Audi follows the FXX K’s lead in eschewing the modern love affair with turbos. A bonafide member of the 200mph club, the R8 should represent the four rings well in supercar races.

FM6-2015-Dodge-Charger-Hellcat

It’s a good thing players don’t have to pay for replacement tires in Forza, or else the Charger’s low starting price could easily end up rivalling the cars above. The most powerful four-door production car in the world, the Hellcat shows a level of disdain for its rear rubber that borders on shocking. It joins the Challenger Hellcat that’s already in the game, sharing the same supercharged, 707hp V8 engine. Good luck taming this particular cat.

FM6-2016-Jaguar-F-Type-Project-7

The Project 7 is a special, limited-edition version of the F-Type. It takes the classic approach to performance improvement: more power, less weight, stickier tires. That’s simplifying things a bit, though: it still looks fantastic, as every F-Type tends to. The fairing behind the driver draws inspiration from the classic D-Type, but this is a thoroughly modern sports car…

FM6-Jaguar-XJ-S

The XJ-S is not a modern sports car. The only car in the pack to not be produced this decade, this classic Jag was nonetheless a stalwart of its time, staying in production for over twenty years. While considered a big car at the time, the V12-powered cruiser almost looks tiny in the video up top, right? If that buttery engine isn’t your bag, you can always swap it out for an American V8, and you’ll never have to deal with electrical system problems!

FM6-2015-Land-Rover-Range-Rover-Sport-SVR

The SVR badge is Jaguar Land Rover’s answer to M, AMG, and quattro GmbH. The first vehicle to carry the name is the behemoth you see above. Borrowing the 550hp supercharged V8 from the F-Type R, the Range Rover Sport SVR is meant to take the battle to the lucrative performance SUV segment. To hear it from JLR, the SVR offers a level of road performance never before seen from the brand, while retaining the off-road prowess its known for. We’ll have to wait for Forza Horizon 3 to really test the latter claim, though.

FM6-2016-Rolls-Royce-Dawn

Lastly, a car that probably weighs more than even the SUV above. Rolls’ Dawn is the company’s third convertible in over four decades, and should prove an excellent cruiser. Forza remains the only game to include the brand, after introducing the Wraith as DLC in 2014. Sure, it has over 600hp, but that doesn’t mean you’ll see it hot-lapping at Brands Hatch. Right?

Turn 10 has also announced a batch of new Rivals events will be arriving alongside the DLC, with the first group set to show up next week. Stay tuned to GTPlanet for more, and pop by our Forza 6 section to discuss this in more detail!

It’s amazing how stale and boring GT6s DLC was/is. I mean, VGTs. Haha! Really? Seriously?? Sorry but PD should be ashamed of themselves when they see what T10 offers their fan base. This DLC alone beats all of GT6s put together. Don’t even get me started about the AI and ‘floaty’ feel of GT6, either.

    1. xpenguinx123

You are comparing a 3-4 year old game to a 2015 release, your comment is illogical in everyway.

    2. ImaRobot

and DLC has nothing to do with how old, or hardware restrictive a game is. Your comment is far more illogical.

  2. girabyt3

Erm, Chrissy, don’t say to players to not crash them, ‘cuz MOST OF them will xD. Nice pack tho ;)

    1. Ryan81

No, it’s really not. I’m not talking about the graphics, I am talking about the DLC. Forza 3 came out on the 360 in 2009 and had far better DLC than GT6 which was released in December 2013. Still going to say my argument is “illogical in every way?” Now, how about PD trying to do something about those God awful standards?

I acknowledge and appreciate the levels of detail that is put into MOST of their car models, but I can’t get over the comparitive drop in how the wheels look. The R8 and FXX K are the cars that stand out in this selection. Their are so many cars in Forza that make me think, “That car looks pretty damn good, but what’s up with the wheels?

  4. Andyc709292

Awesome selection. In the market for an Xbox/PS next gen, and if I’d not bought the steering wheel already this would seal the deal for the xbox, take note Sony – you’re losing share.

Anyway, check out Harry’s Garage for an excellent (and eccentric) review of the Project 7, I’ll not link to it, but essentially it’s Harry Metcalf (lucky bugger) test driving his new Jag.

Bonus for me – it’s all around where I used to live too!

I literally just traded in my PS4 for the Xbox One this weekend. Couldn’t stand the games anymore from Sony.

    2. nismogt7

Not bad for dlc but forza 6 is just horrible physics it feels outdated im still playing gt6 cause of the physics gt6 judt feel more authentic literally haven’t played forza6 in 5 months its just a boring game in my opinion

    3. MrWaflz55

@purealpha I don’t see many people over on the PS4 being “played” or “conned”. Bad day?

    4. SolidRacer

Yeah, I agree that gt6 with racing wheels is still best you can get on a console.. And still beats most pc Sims.. Like really.. I drive and do racing on tracks in real world and when I’m at home drinking beer still.. My ps3 kicked in when I need my racing fix.. Ps4 can’t offer nothing at this time.. Pc is just too empty and nothing to do.. You have to love driving and cars hardcore to play pc Sims.. On Xbox it’s exact opposite.. You have to be driving with a controller and have no interest motor racing…

Sad that they actually believe, even worse are the people that base their beliefs of Forza off someone else’s hot air.

    1. ImaRobot

If you would have actualy done what you said @Calvins48, you would have realized that its not any of the cars that are listed in the pack and actually matches up quite well with a 2014 Ferrari California.

    2. JorgePinto

In fact it’s the old 2008 California, it’s listed in the game when you make a pic under model, so maybe it’s an uncoming unicorn.

  5. FosterG

I was hoping for the FXX K, and now that I have driven it, I am floored by how utterly unreal this thing handles and stops, amazing ride.

  6. dualshock

The BBC have blocked the video!….which considering its essentially an advert, is a bit far to up themselves to be almost funny.

  7. Blood*Specter

These guys do the best overall job of giving their customers what they want.

    CARS.

They do it better than GT, PCars and Assetto Corsa combined. So you Xbox guys/girls must be fiving them insane props. They take good care of you. I mean really? A Rolls?

    1. TomBrady

pCars does a damn good job too though. That classic Lotus DLC was better than any DLC or content Forza has done.

Still, Forza has amazing DLC support and I wish GT would get that kind of love.

    2. brownninja97

perks of having an insane budget, shame the same cant be said about some of the other parts of the game.

    3. ImaRobot

I suppose, but it also comes down to design decisions as well. It’s safe to assume that Sony shells out just as much for PD, as its one of there best sellers, so just having money obviously isn’t the only reason that this is happening.
