Today, console and PC players alike can rejoice: Early Access to Forza Horizon 3 is here, bringing the entirety of this year’s open-world epic to those opting for the digital Ultimate Edition 4 days ahead of its official street date. For those without such a privilege your journey begins on September 27th when the game officially hits retail (and digital) shelves.

With more than 350 cars available at your every beck and call, and the ability to create and share custom events across the Australian landscape with the Horizon Blueprint tool, there’s going to be plenty to keep players occupied over the coming months.

The second game in the Xbox Play Anywhere initiative following ReCore, enabled titles allow players to purchase a digital game and play on both Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs at no additional cost. While there’s parity between the platforms across the board, there is one unique advantage PC players have over the Xbox One: the ability to enjoy the game in 60 fps, a first for the Horizon series.

Included in the Ultimate Edition is the Car Pass, granting access to the first six months’ worth of DLC content, adding an additional 42 cars in total. The VIP pack includes an additional five cars exclusive to the package – the likes of which include the 2016 Lamborghini Aventador LP750-4 SV; 2016 Koenigsegg Regera; 2015 Ultima Evolution Coupe 1020; 2015 Ferrari F12tdf; and the 2015 Ford Falcon GT F 351. New events, doubled wheelspin earnings, exclusive online events, and community gifts round out the VIP offerings.

Furthermore, the top-tier digital offering includes access to the Rockstar Car Pack featured in Horizon 2, and the Meguiar’s Car Pack featured in Motorsport 6, both exclusive to the Xbox One. The Motorsports All-Star Pack is a unique take on things, granting access to the following 10 cars:

  • 2016 Ford #66 Racing GT Le Mans
  • 2014 Audi #45 Flying Lizard Motorsports R8 LMS ultra
  • 2014 Chevrolet #3 Corvette Racing Corvette C7.R

It’s worth acknowledging that there are currently nagging issues on the PC, and the most significant among them is the inability to access any of the aforementioned features. Having tested this for ourselves, we’ve confirmed that accessing these features on Windows 10 greets you with a message prompt requiring you to purchase the content again.

We’d advise not purchasing any of the content again as this is likely a known bug and should be addressed in time for next week’s official release. In the meantime players wanting access to everything can start the game on Xbox One and pick up where they left off — all content will be available.

GTPlanet’s Forza Horizon 3 forum section is now in full swing bustling with activity, and is only going to see more of it when the 27th rolls around. So make sure to drop by and keep up to date on all things Horizon-related.

Keep an eye peeled as well, who knows what else will turn up.
