Gran Turismo 5 Commercial Production Suggests ’09 Release

gran-turismo-5-commercial

For those of you who still aren’t conviced of a 2009 release date for Gran Turismo 5, here’s something new to consider.  In a comment on PlayStation’s official blog, Peter Dille, Senior Vice President of Marketing, dropped this remark after someone mentioned they were hopeful for a commercial about the game:

Oh, we have one for GT5 all right…

Commercials, of course, take time to produce, but this particular campaign is already rolling, and “have” suggests that it’s already sitting on a hard drive somewhere.  In that case, it should be ready just in time for Christmas…  Now, do we have any readers from Sony’s ad agency?  ;)

Note:  If you’re curious about the image above, it came from this “Season’s Greetings” video by Polyphony Digital a few years ago.

Hummmm……I honestly think that PD should take another two years or so and do full-scale bumper-to-bumper, inside and outside damage to all of the cars so that we won’t have to wait another 5 or so years to see full scale damage in GT6.
If GT5 is just going to feel like GT5 Pro. with more content and cars then it’s not really worth the wait. I think that PD should spend more time to make a near perfect racing simulator game-PERFECT!
As for FM3…I don’t think the game will be all that great. GT always wins when it comes to graphics-they always had and always will. If you could, take a pin and poke the cars in FM3, and the cars will pop like a balloon would. Then take the same pin and try to pop the cars in GT5, they will not pop. I also don’t think the damage in FM3 will be all that realistic. It would also be funny to see the cars roll-over easily/often. Lastly GT has the most true to life racing handling and speed. Other racing games like NFS does over kill on speed.
NFS is more for kids and people who aren’t good at GT or true simulator games. People that only play NFS care all too much about adding flashy rims, spoilers, body-kids and all that unneeded extra weight. If you really want that, just get a race car!!
GT really need true to life damage and any outcomes because of damage if they are ever going to be the Perfect racing simulator!!

PD and SONY do not need black friday or cyber monday to sell GT5 units. but they do need those days to sell PS3. and the release of a GT5 and PS3 bundle pack will sell more PS3 units then they can handle.
So i say the release date will be the first week of december or the last week of december. no later then that. and it will be a better move on SONY part to release it after the christmas holiday because thats when people are thinkin about what to do with all the damn gift card they got.
No matter what we are closer to having GT5 then we ever have been. and we waited this long, i think we can wait a few more short weeks. i dont think SONY is worry about “fm3” takin theyre sells. if your a true hardcore racing fan you know what game to wait for (GT5) it will be more then wroth it. trust me

4th of december all the full gt games are released that time.

Will definately be before christmas pd will get more sales that way

I think it would be a smart thing to release it on/before Black Friday (Nov 27) since many people go shopping that day for Christmas bargains. If that were the case, it would also help online sales as Cyber Moday (Nov 30) is basically the online Black Friday.

I think that would be a good strategy but that’s just me =P.

    @Berlino Bear
this video was released a while back on psn to promote gt, not a fake. It’s still sitting on my hardrive

I am very sure Sony is smart enough to make sure GT5 will be ready within the first week of december. Lots, Lots, Lots of people will buy this game and a ps3 bundle for Xmas.
Dec. 29. is highly unlikely, at least for europe and north america.

The article on here didn’t really make much sense but I think dec 4th is a realistic target and gives 3 weeks of sales before Christmas. Dec 29th makes no sense. Getting the game shipped and delivered over the holiday period would be a nightmare and I think if they can’t release it by dec 4th it will be an early 2010 release.

There is one good reason why PD ‘CANT’ release GT5 in 2010. all the race cars they showed in the concept trailer are from the 2009 racing season. what a waste that would be if i had to drive all those outdated race cars in the 2010 season.

On the other hand, if Sony wants really to surprise MS and their Forza product, they’ll announce immediate availability of GT5 at TGS :). It’s not very likely, but would be a really good move from Sony.

Stock photos can be re-used year after year, they don’t imply anything to do with release schedules.

That picture – I see a ‘slim challenged bloke’ trying to fit or steal a box or steal the car in question. Look at the person up in arms behind him, it’s obvious that its that other persons car !!

There have been Releaselists for PS3 Bundles in Europe. I have no Source at the moment and its not like “absolutly official”, but it was like:
    “Dec 4th: PS3-slim GT5 Bundle”
So as others already mentioned, i also think it will be an early Dec release.
But i hope for an late Nov release…

  12. Ninjaghost

I just hope at TGS they don’t BS us and joke around with us show us features, online, etc and no release date…… That’s all I want don’t care… Features are nice but mean anything without a solid date….. The speculation needs to end already. Sony needs this title

first we see GranTurismo psp out in 1 october then wee see if GT5 comes out before christmas mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm will see about?????????

  14. Warden

this site shows it around the 28th of december… dvdcrave.com.au Gran Turismo 5 RRP TBA
Price TBA inc GST Format Playstation 3 Availability 28/12/2009, it wouldn’t hurt sales to release it after xmas just think of all those cheese eating high school boys that are cashed up from lazy aunts, uncles and grandparents that give them cash instead of a gay sweater for xmas, they’ll be lining up ut at eb games eating that sh*t up.

  15. Nomino

Ahmed, Amazon have been taking pre-orders regardless of any date.. As for the 29th…yeah right, I somehow doubt that. It will either be before Christmas 2009, or we can expect a Spring 2010 release.

  16. ravellron

impossible end of december, it must be before december to sell…
and this video i downloaded at december 2008 from psstore america… its old…

  17. MSH

It can as well mean that they are determined to have one, but it doesn’t say anything that points to a 2009 release.

    Still hopeful though… :)

  18. Ahmad

For me I think the release date will be the 29 of dec , amazon is really convinced that its true ( they are allowing pre-orders ) , so its probably is true .
