they totally 100% earned it.6mothns to model each premium car. THATS amazing on it own

i wonder if gt5 contends for the longest game in development ever to be released.

  2. magburner

And it should too, the level of detail in this game is insane!!!

One thing I can’t understand though is this, GT5 won best of Gamescom, but was only the 6th best console game…

    1. Nemesis

There isn’t any particular order to the nomination list. The winners are in bold. I do agree that it would’ve been less confusing if the winners where at the top.

  3. tvensky

hats off! thanks Sony & PD for this game! ok no thanks we pay you alot of money.. but still.. thanks! ;_)

  4. Pfff

Hmm every categorie? I see in the best console game, GT5 @ 6th…. Maybe it helps when u put 1. 2. 3. before the games Jordan…

    1. RACECAR

Did you not read the announed release date from E3 and Gamescom, or are you too lazy to read the news at all?

  5. maxpontiac

It seems the only location that I have seen that cares about the “premium v standard” issue is the forums here at GTPlanet…

Glad to see GT5 win the award.

  6. GT'ireland

JORDAN..yet again more news that makes my day.im not suprised at all the fact GT5 has got these awards,i cant wait for my copy to arrive.thanks for the news and im sure everyone else is grateful the information you provide.i have a question for you or if any of the guys can help, will GT5 work on my pityful 720p LCD TV or do i have to invest in a 1080p?

  7. JayKayEm

Can we all win an award for….

    “Most Patient Fanbase of Evaaar”

Awards do not compensate for lack of Porsche :-(

  8. fade

I’m surprised! Sure, personally, GT5 was the only game I was interested in at the show, the physics look awesome, graphically great, sound seems improved, might be playing it for years to come, great value product – but that’s -me-, who decided these?

  9. Liam

@TokyoDrift, that’s a rather odd assumption. Perhaps people just write short comments?

I’m glad GT5 one atleast one award, It was the best game there (atleast from what I’ve seen). I’m waiting for reviews on both PS move & Kinect, all I’ve seen with move is some medocre, to pretty good games with it. Sure it’s 1 to 1 (if the game its used in is programmed right) but i want a game that makes me go WOW, I’m so pre0ordering that! Sourcery came close. Kinect doesn’t fare aswell…all i’ve seen is down right pathetic games to slightly average games. And to make it worst, there’s numerous videos where the action on screen are either; lagged, or faked. Oh and the E3 presentation…with the tiger…need I say anymore!?

  10. Craigles

Not all the best games are on there. I would like to see it against lbp2 or black opps. They would be hard to beat, espiecialy lbp2

  11. Drogahnus

Move won over Kinect, LOL. I love Sony; can’t wait to get Move – that Sorcery game looks pretty sweet.

  12. Stune

Sounds like a no brainer to me. Although i wasnt at the show so its probally not entirely fair me saying that.

  13. TokyoDrift

Funny how the majority of first posts are extremely short as they panic to get the thing submitted before anybody else. Pathetic.

What is not pathetic, is the way SONY seemingly stole the show. Just goes to show Microsoft, you don’t always need to try and come up with something different for fear of being told you are just copying. SONY took what Nintendo started, advanced things, and implemented it properly.

  14. JesseDeya

Well deserved for GT and great news for Move too which is underrated at the momeent imho.

I see some great sales and good profit for Sony coming into this holiday season!

    1. Luke

None of the games shown on the Gamescon are complete. Otherwise you would find them in the store and there would be no need to present the game at the Gamescon.
Awards are won by the most promising games.

And GT5 ist great enough to win all awards with just one track and one car in it, only being able to drive in reverse, without tires. ;)

  15. Davide93

gt5 IS VERY popular in Italy… The peolpe in Siena are only stupids who want to have money from Sony…

    1. Luke

Yes of course. But in my eyes, the PS Move is nothing more than a better Wii. Well, or i should say: the PS Move is, what the Wii should have been 3 years ago.

  16. ICEMAN_ZIDANE

Yes this is just AWESOME and i think no other game got 2 awards at gamescom

but there is something wrong in the list , this is the WINNER list

Gran Turismo 5 (Sony Computer Entertainment Deutschland GmbH) in der Kategorie “Best of gamescom”
PlayStation Move (Sony Computer Entertainment Deutschland GmbH) in der Kategorie “hardware-accessoires”
Gran Turismo 5 (Sony Computer Entertainment Deutschland GmbH) in der Kategorie “Spiele für Konsole”
Super Scribblenauts (Warner Bros. Games) in der Kategorie “Spiele für Mobile”
Guild Wars 2 (NCsoft West) in der Kategorie “Spiele für Online”
Crysis 2 (Crytek GmbH) in der Kategorie “Spiele für PC”
Kirby’s Epic Yarn (Nintendo of Europe GmbH) in der Kategorie “Best of Family Entertainment”

    7 awards , 3 times Sony , 2 times GT 5
I said there is something wrong in the list because Kinect was over Move but that is not true the winner was Move from Sony ( you can see it in the list )

  17. Luke

I anticipated GT to win “Best console game”, the competition in that category was not that great. But i was sure GT5 would lose “Best of gamescon”. The media is always just hyping stuff like Portal 2 and Crysis 2.

But i really can`t understand why the Playstation Move won over Kinect. PS Move is great, but it`s not really that different from the Wiimote.

    1. Shokz

Move is absolutely awesome :D Got to try it out at Playstation Beta and that made me preorder it – there’s not even that many good games announced for it yet so i must be crazy, but still, it’s so much better than the Wiimote it’s unbelievable.

    2. r35-vspec

“The media is always just hyping stuff like Portal 2 and Crysis 2.” You’re absolutely right. The media just love super high graphics games so they hype those games but what’s so good in Portal ? I only played it for 10min because all I remember is you enter a portal and you exit from one and so on.

As for Move and Kinect, I think Move should win over Kinect. Because it’s similar to the Wiimote and it has buttons. What am I gonna do with Kinect ? How am I gonna pull a trigger with it or press “Start” button. I can’t do these things with the Kinect. am’jus’sayin’

    3. Luke

Portal was great and innovative, it forced you to think your way through the levels. But it has absolutely no replay value, nothing to remember after playing through that game. Somehow i don`t really like that game anymore, just because something like that keeps winning awards.

As for Move and Kinect, i think Kinect is better. I`m very surprised by the way it works and i`m very much looking forward to new innovative games. But that doesn`t mean Move is crap. I will surely buy both and i`m still wondering if GT5 will implement the Move in any way. (except invisible steering wheel in the air, that is crap)

    4. Jakemania

@snaketus… You can’t possibly say Move is NOTHING like a wiimote lol. It has the exact same design. Is it technically superior? Yes. But it’s still a lot alike a wii mote.

Hopefully the accuracy and precision blows the Wii out of the water. (And it gets some good support software wise, not wii shovelware junk.)

  18. caasimun

hey jordanm is there a way for me to download the 66 pics all at once instead of clicking each one of em?

    1. Wiretap

hey, if you are using Firefox, there is a plugin called ‘Down Them All’ or something like that. This allows you to download all links on a page in one go. Hope that helps you out.

    1. Jakemania

This is definitely good news =). I’m surprised a racing game won either of these awards let alone both in all honesty… It just seems pretty rare, it’s usually a shooter, RPG, adventure, etc. game that wins them. Hopefully, this means that it’s THAT awesome!

To misquote a good Greenday song… “Wake me up, when October ends”

    2. viejaloca

      @Jakemania

I was thinking the other way, I thought PD deserved more considering how much extras they put that suprised us and the effort put into it. I think this’ll be the game of the half-decade (until GT6 comes out!)

    3. Jakemania

I’m not at all saying that it is not well deserved. I was just stating that racing games generally don’t get the praise that other games get. Which is why, to me, it is even more impressive that GT5 won both awards.

    4. FlareKR

      @ Jakemania
Agreed, it’s usually the shooters and action games that get the prizes; some of them deserve it (Uncharted:2, most amazing non racing game I’ve played), and some don’t (*COUGH* CoD). Congrats PD! And congrats to Sony for PS Move, beat Micro$ofts ripoff of the PS2’s EyeToy.
