Gran Turismo 5 XL Featured for $10 in “Black Friday” Sales

Two of the largest retailers in the United States will be selling Gran Turismo 5: XL Edition for just $10.00 in their “Black Friday” sales, which kick off the holiday shopping season.

Walmart has featured the game in their Black Friday mail ad along with over 25 other popular titles at that price point. The deal will apparently begin on Thursday (see your local store ad for details); the price will be for in-store purchases only.

Amazon is also getting in on the action, featuring GT5 XL in their Black Friday Lightning Deals. The game will be sold at that price point on Thursday, November 22, between 5:10-9:10pm PST or while supplies last.

Considering that XL Edition includes a $20 PlayStation Store voucher, these deals offer a significant value at $10, even for those who may already own a copy of the game but are looking to purchase the additional DLC which is available.

If you decide to take advantage of these deals, thanks for helping out GTPlanet by purchasing the games via the affiliate links above.

i picked it up last night at Walmart for $10, but i already had all the DLC, so i guess that i bought it for nothing?

  2. r5d3

Fought through the crowds tonight to pick up my back-up copy. Also ended up with Most Wanted and FIFA for $25 each. It was a good day.

  3. z06fun

Did anyone actually get one at amazon? I waited for the count down timer to end, then refreshed the screen for about 30 seconds till the price changed to $10 and they were all sold out, and the wait list was at +500. 30 seconds, So they maybe had what, 20 to sell?

    1. z06fun

Actually its wasn’t even 30 seconds, they sold out in the time between my screen refreshing. So maybe 3 seconds.

  4. bs13

Great deal if you don’t already have the DLC. The disc would also be handy for re-installs since it has updates through spec 2.0 on the disc.

The XL version includes a “Voucher good for over $20 worth of DLC content, including the Racing Car Pack, Car Pack 2, Course Pack, Racing Gear Pack, and Paint Pack.”

    1. dj4monie

I don’t have a PS3 or the Game, so yes its of value. I never understood how people already with the game complain about value when not everybody has brought GT5 that wants one. I don’t even know if I am getting a PS3 finally, I don’t want the Super Slim, its hard to find a working Xbox 360 or PS3 for double store credit via Gamestop.

Sorry but I don’t wanna pay $199 for a Holiday Bundle of games I don’t want + pay the exact trade-in value to get a used working 360 off somebody.

  5. marktyper

Hahaha that’s awesome to hear even tho I bought the game for 59 plus tax is 64, I live in canada and unfortunately, only USA ro blackfriday big sales. Longstoryshort, 10 bucks will attract more trolls and noob online players! Yay that 7 yrs old oa bringing am x1 or veyron in a JDM Cruise!

  6. marxlien

This is really weird, a company makes an awesome offer and people get angry!!

And tris is also something of BASIC economics

    Wtf!

    1. Xamado7V

      Ok…ok…here goes!….

Is this hinting at more DLC?!

Just thought I’d pop that one in – complete the package. : )

  7. SZRT Ice

Guys, chill out. This is a ONE DAY SALE. Not GT5’s permanently new selling price. More so, it’s most likely a marketing ploy to get people in the store so that they can spend money on other deals. Just be mindful, people have died on Black Friday for ridiculous deals such as these. Take it easy out there GTP.

    1. TomBrady

LOL You’re hilarious. Have you even played pCars? Not to mention, they’ve already hinted at the fact that the ps3 version won’t be the same as the PC version physics wise, which is a really bad sign considering their other console titles. Even if pCars hit it’s full potential on PS3 it will never overtake GT5, be realistic instead of buying the hype

    2. Magic Ayrton

I have project cars on PC, although it’s Beta, I do not believe that the physics will be as good as GT5, despite all GT’s shortcomings it’s still better than P Cars.. maybe it’s the online factor or maybe because P cars isn’t finished.. but GT6 will be out soon after anyway!

    3. Terronium-12

Yeah, Tom, I don’t know where you heard that tripe about the physics but it’s flat out wrong.

Also, pCARS is not in Beta, it’s in Pre-Alpha.

    4. BWX

pCars is hyped up beyond belief. I fell for it, and bought it for PC a couple weeks ago.

      I wasted my money..

The physics are horrible. The force feedback is absolutely useless on my Fanatec CSR, very very poor force feedback. I tried all these different settings for hours, and it just sucks. WRC3 has better FF (WRC3 FF is screwed up btw).

The game surprisingly doesn’t even look that good, I have a GTX 670 and the antialiasing is all screwed up and I cannot get rid of jaggies even at 16x qcaa.. Just a horrible game at this point in time and hopefully it all gets fixed before release so at least I wouldn’t have wasted the money I already spent.

But yeah GT5 is old and tired, and Kaz won’t even fix basic problem. Even when GT(x) comes out on the PS4, I still won’t be buying that either because Kaz doesn’t know how to make a decent game anymore.. I think he’s clinically delusional after seeing that interview posted here on GTP a couple weeks ago.. He just doesn’t care about GT5 fans, so I don’t care about GT anymore.. I am sure the next GT will be the worst selling GT ever, and probably the worst GT ever, no matter how good it looks.

    5. teppischfresser

P cars sucks every time a new build comes out I get excited, but then I’m angered by how bad it is. RFactor 2 baby!!!

    6. Terronium-12

      BWX, couple of things:

      1. No such thing as QCAA.
      2. While the criticism of FFB (given your choice of wheel) is sound, wouldn’t it be more productive to relay that feedback on the WMD forum as opposed to here, where they’ll never take notice of it?
      3. The physics are horrible? Okay, but you do realize the current state of the game is pre-alpha, do you not? And let us not forget a new tire model has just been implemented into the game completely superseded the previous BTM.
      4. You cannot get rid of jagged edges? I can’t say I’ve ever heard of that problem.

  8. bzking23

awesome, i had only bought one dlc and i wanted the others but hate borrowing money from my dads credit card. thisis great my mom can pick it up on black friday

  9. Xamado7V

I went and bought GT5 Academy Edition for £15 (Amazon) to get the $20 DLC….

    *starting to pull hair out*!!

I think it’s funny how some people (on here) actually thought they’re paying $10 to get a $20 PSN voucher (to use on whatever). XD
It Is a seriously amazing deal though.

    1. Xamado7V

BTW I should stress I bought Academy Ed. like a week ago. : )
You’d have to be a TopGear – X2010 – Free run driver to pay that for it after reading this. XP

  10. TokoTurismo

Hey, I like the sound of this. The more new players who buy this, the more we get to meet them for the first. :)

I see no problem with this. Maybe a big suprise in December? 0.0

    1. Flagmo-T

Ya Right we need new Players online – all the old ones has packed GT5 in the Box, left the PS3 building, and is now playing Forza on a new Cheap Xbox hahaha – :o)

( I Play Project Cars WHich is A Yammiee SImRacer for the buck – Damn what a nice Game it is )

    2. dojOdRiFTeR

#dredman1 no one plays flopza heck gt5 sold more than almost the whole forza series . Sure your not paid by Ms to promote propaganda come one dude gt5 has way more online players than flopza

    3. TomBrady

Flagmo that really was one of the dumbest comments I’ve read. GT5s first DLC sold more copies than Forza alone, you really think there’s no one online? There’s people online 24/7 despite offline modes being very popular like seasonals, time trials, enduros, and arcade racing. and what’s a yammie sim racer? LOL You’re just full of stupid aren’t you?

    4. Pit Crew

@Flagmo-T I participate in Online races everynight. We presently are TopSpeed tuning cars capable of hitting 190@Daytona. Down from TopSpeed testing cars that get 205. A Far cry from TopSpeed testing 270, 240, 225, 220, MaxSpeed cars. 2 years and running. If GT5 online is dying im not seeing it.

Some guys/gals have moved on but of the GT5 friends on my list, many still get together online, and TopSpeed testing these slower cars has brought some new excitement amongst them.

What we don’t need Online is Newbies who can’t understand the rules of individual race lobbies.

    5. Flagmo-T

Sorry Guys, I was only Joking or Ya I did made a quite stupid Comment, if it was meant to be Serious ( I thought that was obvious ) But I did say Hahaha :o)

I tried Forza Horizent the other day, and Nope!! Me not fancy it at all..

But i do look forward to the release of Project Cars though, I play the Monthly builds, and they do kick as ( still haven’t played online) and a few more SimDrivers in my Team also Love the builds, so we expect it to be Awesome, but again Only time will tell ..

Sorry again for the Misleading joke :o) PS. I do Fancy GT5 online with great Drivers..

    6. TokoTurismo

@Flagmo-T Haha. Something told me you were joking when you added a smiley in your sentense. :) I do agree with you about FH. After beating the whole game, I just got bored with it. Thus I stopped playing.

I also understand that you’re excited about pCars, and hope you enjoy it. It looks promising.

  11. dredman1

Can anyone clarify if the $20 voucher for DLC is free to use as you wish in the PSN store, or is it specifically only for GT5 DLC?

If it’s tied to only downloading GT5 DLC, then this makes no sense for me to buy.

If not, then it’s like Sony & PD is paying me $10 to buy stuff of the PSN store!!! ;)

    1. HOODFIELD

GT5 specific. The article is implying if you already own the game but not the DLC, this would be the cheaper route to getting the DLC which is valued at $20.

    2. dojOdRiFTeR

no one plays flopza heck gt5 sold more than almost the whole forza series . Sure your not paid by Ms to promote propaganda come one dude gt5 has way more online players than flopza

    1. hobanator24

And those that already have GT5 & all the dlc (aside from stealth & chrome line cars). Although, my copy is getting a bit old. The Spec 2.0 intro always freezes after 16 seconds. Rest of the game works fine though.

  12. Foxiol

But guys you all played for 2 years…I paid 147€ for the Signature Edition, bought all DLC´s and I even stopped playing (just when I see updates)…So what?

This is good and it will help to rise the number of sold copies probably up to 10 million, more people playing and more fun for everybody. Is that bad?…

  13. Samzilla047

What’s wrong wi the grumpy littles fellows here? Of course you spent 60 quids on the game, you don’t expect PD to give it for free? That’s the rules in any business … Prices go down with time. You could also have waited three years before buying it… Or wait 10 more years to get a good bargain on GT6…

  14. LR-MR-Cole

im so glad i spent $60 on this game which is fine cause it was new but over 30 in DLC s and they go and sell it for 10. Wow MORE RALLY CARS

  15. SavageEvil

Oh yes, I can pay $10 bucks and get $20 worth of PSN cash, sounds like a deal to me and a brand new copy of GT5 for safe keeping. I only see good things here.

  16. another_jakhole

My disc got scratched because of my PS3 so this couldn’t have come at a better time. First day release purchaser here.

  17. thegame346

So glad i spent $60 on this game when it came out plus the cost of the first add ons only to see it offered a couple years down the road for $10.

    Screw you polyphony

    1. Foxiol

You must be new to the entire game market. Welcome aboard boy.

A 2 year old game should drop the price. You were playing it for 2 years and you bought it at release. See the difference?

Also if you don´t want to pay that much for games first of all stop with the “hype” immature thing, and wait till prices drop because all games after a couple of months drops prices almost to a half of the launch cost.

I started to do this on PC mostly thanks to Steam because you have sales almost every day and sometimes released games gets 50% less or even more discount a month after release. And now pre-ordering games you have 10% discount. And full release games on PC costs 49,99€ not 60€ as on consoles.

(that´s why I am playing mostly on PC lately)

    2. hobanator24

Seriously? I bought my copy of GT5 a month after release (Christmas) along with my PS3 & CoD Black Ops, and I’m proud. I don’t care I paid $60 for a game that’s now 2 years old. Prices drop over time. Deal with it.

    3. TokoTurismo

@tofudrifter What was the purpose of you writting that? How is this the worst forum? Don’t hate please, really. >_>

    4. another_jakhole

No, tofudrifter’s right. People see GTP as one of the worst fan forums when it comes to people crapping on the game and developer. There are many words to describe the people that make this place feel like crud.

      screw you polyphony? really?

    1. TomBrady

You really are a bafoon aren’t you? Are you trolling? You write some of the most hilariously stupid comments. I hope you’ve not been given a drivers license

  18. Stephanos82

Sweet , I might just buy myself another copy just in case! :( kinda sad on the other hand, I was hoping for news of a spec III update.

    1. Xamado7V

      @Stephanos82 – Join the club…
DLC and Spec news articles are the only ones I care about seeing. It such a joyful occasion when you come back to GTPlanet after a little while and there’s 3 new articles.

Article 1 – *guy* is now the new *place* GT Academy champion -_-
Article 2 – *guy* to race new *Nissan* at *track* -_-
      Article 3 – Spec-III Update & New DLC incoming………………….WOOOOP! XDD

      Ok, I’m done. : )
