Gran Turismo 7’s New Genesis Vision GT Car to be Revealed on December 2

Genesis concept car first teased in 2022

When the special events for the Gran Turismo World Finals were unveiled for GT7 last week, they revealed a mysterious new Vision GT project car was coming to the game. Today, we have official confirmation that new car will be coming from Genesis, the luxury spin-off marque from Hyundai.

The news was revealed with teaser videos posted to YouTube and social media by the official Gran Turismo accounts, announcing a full reveal on Saturday December 2, 2023. Although the video doesn’t show much, it includes enough glimpses of the car to suggest it will be very similar — if not identical — to a supercar concept the company teased at the Gran Turismo World Series Showdown in September of last year.

That concept car was shown near the end of a “Trackside Talk” with Genesis designers John Krsteski and Samir Sadikhov, as the duo explained the existing Genesis Gr.3 and Gr.4 cars in Gran Turismo 7 were “just the beginning of the relationship [with Gran Turismo]” and wanted to “move forward and introduce some new ideas”.

If you look carefully at a few specific frames from today’s teaser video, you can see the front right corner of the car appears to closely match the concept shared last year. A shadowy look at the rear corner reveals even more similarities, including a unique rear taillight design that goes underneath a piece of bodywork and an element of the rear diffuser behind the wheel.

There are no specifications, of course, but the original concept did appear to have a combustion engine as evidenced by a dual dry break filler.

Of course, Vision GT car reveals have become something of a tradition for Gran Turismo’s World Finals, with the Ferrari Vision GT, Jaguar’s second Vision GT, and Lamborghini’s Vision GT all making their debuts in previous years.

The 2023 event in Barcelona will be particularly special as the Vision GT project celebrates its 10th anniversary with the “Gran Turismo Garage”, including several full-size, real-life models of Vision GT project cars.

GTPlanet will be on the ground in Spain for full coverage of the Genesis Vision GT reveal and any other announcements to come from the World Finals. Stay tuned!
