In the latest edition of the the PlayStation Qore video magazine, it’s revealed that popular TV comedian and car-guy Jay Leno will be lending his voice for Gran Turismo PSP. We don’t know the specifics just yet, but from what we see in the video (and the game menu screens), it looks like he’ll be offering hints and tips on how to ace the license tests and challenges. Those of you outside of the United States may not be that familiar with Jay Leno (he’s had a weeknight television show here for 17 years), but he’s widely known in the automotive world for his impressive collection of rare and exotic cars. He’s also responsible for inventing and building the notorious, unwieldy “Tank Car” found in Gran Turismo 4. Watch his interview with Qore right here.
“Fun Fact”: this actually isn’t the first time that a human “voice over” has been used in the GT series. Fifth Gear television co-host Vicki Butler-Henderson provided help with license tests in GT4 Prologue.

I’d rather learn more about what we can expect from GT5 at the TGS than when the release date is. We know its coming in Q4 so i’m not worried.

They talk briefly about the gran turismo influence on the nissan gt-r, and theres a gt5 vid showing a bit of of a dirt rally track and rally car, plus the now widely anticipated q4 release date.

But why do we need any voice in the game anyway? What for? The only thing I can think of is voice in track inroduction movies. And maybe comments during NASCAR races…

If Clarkson ever manages to be in the GT series, it’d be interesting to find out that he mocks a car that he finds distasteful such as a first car. That might be a pro/con for some GT fans.
I’d be happy with, at the end of every race, ‘..and across the line!’. What about the co-driver for the WRC side of the game? Clarkson as a co-driver would have me in stitches…
Jay looks like his mouth is full of sweets. James May would be spiffing for the EU release though.

I hope there is an optional extra regarding turning the voice off, hearing the same thing every time when doing a test may get rather annoying as interesting as it might’ve sounded during the first or second tries. Jay Leno was a good surprise though.
They should put David Hayter (Solid Snake).
All Jeramy Clarkson would do is yell POWER POWER through out the license test. I’d rather here Hamsters voice.

I hope he isnt the voice for GT5. Eventhough he is into cars and stuff his voice is not exactly anything special, especially to EU guys who hardly ever see him. I didnt even know who he was until a couple of years ago.

THE CRAZIEST THING ABOUT THIS IS THAT I LIVE ACROSS THE STREET FROM JAY LENO’S GARAGE AND REMEMBER SEEING THE QORE VAN OUTSIDE OF IT ABOUT A WEEK OR TWO AGO… BUT I DIDNT THINK NOTHING OF IT, SO THIS IS WHAT IS WAS FOR. THIS MAKES ME WONDER…. MAYBE WERE GETTING JEREMY CLARKSON FOR GT5 LOL

He’s done a few segments on Speed Channel for several shows… and this man sure knows his cars. I mean he could tell you almost (if not ALL) you need to know from every car that he owns…. I think even cars that he doesn’t have (but will soon I assume). What a great addition to GT.
ANd I too would love to see the Top Gear Guys on GT.. especially if GT5 has a sort of “Car History” thing…. where information on the car’s past is given… like a small little show or something.. But then again… 1000 mini shows would take soooo much room…so nevermind on that small mini show….
No doubt Leno’s a great guy, I just never been a fan of his voice. I hope Polyphony’s recording one or two others for us to choose in the options. I would love to have circuits introduced and explained by racing drivers (that has actually won at said circuit). “the trick to a fast time in this section is blah blah blah…”

Hah! Now its time that they announce that the Top Gear stars are going to do the license events or big circut race voice overs.
There’s no one more perfect for the task- he’s one of the biggest petrolhead and he has a talk show although his doesn’t match the speaking voice of someone like Stephen Fry. But knowing that you’re getting an advice from someone who owns almost every great cars on the planet, how can you possibly go wrong.
I think it’s cool. Even cooler would be if his car collection were available in GT5!
