When we sat down with Ralph Fulton in mid-September, we knew the launch of Forza Horizon 4 was only the beginning for the game. Now in a recent tweet from Fulton, we now know when the first major update will arrive.
Set for October 25, the title update will introduce the Route Creator. After getting our first look at how it works, it’s definitely something we’re looking forward to.
Unlike other titles that offer route creators, FH4 is a bit different. Instead of just using the map and picking points, you actually drive the course you want to create. There’s also no limit on where you can put checkpoints either. This means if you can make it to a hard-to-reach location, then you can set it as part of the route.
One of the biggest surprises of the Route Creator though is its sheer size. According to Playground Games, players can create routes that take them on a 40-mile joyride. Given the size of FH4’s map, this means you can circle that game world several times.
Also on deck for the October update is a new Horizon Story.
The Horizon Stories have players take a break from all the racing and exploring. It instead puts them in a certain role like a stunt driver or business owner.
The new Story will celebrate the best of British cars with a storyline called “British Racing Green”. During the Story, players will take classic British cars and perform various tasks with them for the Horizon TV series.
Since the update is in October, there are a few Halloween goodies too. Called “Halloween Party”, it will let players win clothing and horns related to the holiday. In total 10 clothing items and five horns will be available.
There’s a whole host of seasonal changes too. For races, that means 20 new seasonal events, four trial events, and four PR stunt challenges.
Forzathon also gets a few things too. These include three Forzathon-exclusive cars and a bunch of new clothing, horns and emotes to spend your Forzathon Points on. If you want to start stocking up on your points now, be sure to check out our property guide to see where you can get some help.
Finally, for Car Pass holder, a new group of eight cars will get an unveiling. Two of those cars will arrive each week over the course of a month. At that time, we suspect the next update to find its way into the game.
