There’s a somewhat overt hint from the official Gran Turismo social media channels that we’re about to get a new brand making its series debut, in the shape of Polestar.

When the official first trailer (and name) for Need for Speed Heat dropped in August, it was very difficult to miss the car taking center stage. Leading much of the chase action, and highlighting the game’s customization options, was a heavily modified Polestar 1.

Only 18 months after revealing its first ever production car, young automotive manufacturer Polestar has now lifted the lid on its second.

Volvo took the wraps off its latest S60 today along with christening its new plant near Charleston, South Carolina.

We first told you about the Polestar spinoff from Volvo back in June. Back then we knew the company planned to bring out several electrified models including a sports car. We just didn’t expect it to get going so quickly, or for the car to be a rocket ship.

Volvo has announced plans to phase electric powertrains into all of its future models.

Volvo Cars will split off its performance arm Polestar into a standalone brand, specializing in electric power.
