The Grand Tour Game Now Available on PS4 and XB1

Just in time for the start of Season 3 this Friday, Amazon’s The Grand Tour Game is now available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The episodic title will allow players to drive along with Clarkson, Hammond and May through a variety of adventures based off ones from the show. Each week will introduce new content alongside the latest episode’s antics, where gameplay will seamlessly flow into cutscenes and back again.

From launch, there are 14 cars to play with, including the supercar “Holy Trinity”, Clarkson’s beach buggy and Hammond’s Eco Car from S1, May’s Fire Truck Lada from S2, and others.

Impressively, TGTG also includes local four-player split-screen, if you happen to have enough controllers around. Also, in a rather surprising move, it uses the bones of rFactor’s physics engine, though naturally it’s skewed more towards pick-up-and-play action.

An 11th hour price cut last week put the game back on the radar, and we’re in the midst of the early portions of The Grand Tour Game as we type this. Early impressions are positive: while it’s certainly no sim racing challenger, it does feel like an authentic extension of the show, with plenty of soundbites from the trio sprinkled in. Whether that lasts through the rest of the game depends, especially with whatever the gang has in store for Season 3.
