Polyphony Digital has announced that the online services for GT6 will be closed for maintenance during the early hours of Wednesday, December 17th, starting at 04:00 GMT/UTC and lasting for approximately two hours (click here to convert this to your local time).
It’s been a while since online service maintenance has been announced in advanced. The last extended maintenance period was last month, for example, when the massive 1.14 update was released, but there was no notification posted ahead of time.
Although these types of announcements do often precede the launch of game updates, it is, of course, not guaranteed. However, it’s been mentioned several times that the Chaparral 2X would be released “this holiday season”, so the week before Christmas certainly falls within that timeline.

Am i the only one who doesnt get B spec… whats the point of watching a simulation play out when you might as well be playing?… Why would you spend/waste your time (call me grandpa #rehash)). .. i mean by all means i welcome another feature but i just dont get it …

When B-spec was first introduced in GT4, I only used it to simulate driver changes in the endurance races. I would have used it in GT5 as well, but it wasn’t integrated in with A-spec like it was in GT4. I’m hoping they bring back the longer endurance races and integrate the B-spec mode into those races.
In GT5, it was more for a team management simulation, so to say.
Repeatedly hitting the X button hardly counts as a simulation.
Well, unless it is a button smashing simulation. Perhaps that is what B-Spec is useful for – seeing how long you can tolerate mindlessly hitting buttons before you get so tired of it that you’ll want to chop your fingers off.
Well it was the only way to finish GT4 for me, because i just could not see a fun in 24h race on La Sarthe with 5 opponents with idiotic AI :))
But otherwise the state it was in either GT4 or GT5 was useless and not fun.
BUT it could be very fun to run your own team with 2-4 cars, utilise your drivers, learn them, pay them or anything..
That mean it needs some pretty rough work on it…and PD …. you know. :)) It will not happen.

The shifter kart was a revelation. Every time they add another world circuit it’s fantastic. Personally, I want a stinkin’ ’86 mustang gt.
Point is, if you don’t belong to a community wherein a Diahatsu Midget II one-make race can be intense and thrilling, you are truly missing the point, and no matter what car or track PD adds (for free) you will still feel the game is missing something.
Having said that, I want my course creator.

Has PD been seen promoting for any car companies lately or promoting at any tracks? GM with the new VisionGT…maybe something else from them? Pikes Peak recently had them spotted; anywhere else?
That will tell us if there is additional cars or tracks…but I’m just adding another car to the hype train with random guesses. ;)
I REALLY hope there is something coming in the next few days to make getting the driving rig out and taking a break from GTA5 worthwhile.
Strangely it’s been a real chore for me to be interested lately and just a year ago I was still a pretty big fanboy.

It’s the lack of variety. Truth be told, GT6 doesn’t feel much different than GT3 in the form of gameplay, play style, and functionality. It’s seriously missing something. And it’s not just new cars imo.
Yeah I don’t know exactly what it is. Shuffle really took a lot out of the game to me. Even the quick match races have just become another punt fest.
I’ve been amongst the most die hard supporters of the series and it’s just finally getting to me now too I guess.
Ugh, here’s hoping for something good but expecting nothing serious.
@SZRT Ice – I don’t know? I actually think GT3 was more exciting than GT6. Perhaps it is because of the roulette system they had for winning cars, or the stupidly aggressive AI that would always choose the Toyota GT-1 or Nisssan R390? Maybe it was Lenny Kravitz or just the fact that there wasnt much competition in the market at the time, but whatever it was GT3 had more charm back on the PS2 than GT6 does now.
No doubt I’ll have some fun with the new car, but really, WE NEED MORE!
I’m looking forward to this. I just really hope that we can get a new track to go along with this wild new car. Honestly, at this stage, I think having new tracks is more important than getting new cars. We need new places to drive.

@KOGSoldier and some online event to use them; till now they are neither race car nor normal car, so we can’t race in the seasonal (except the nissan vgt, but we know nissan is a world apart).
Mik, the WRS has a 2 VisionGT events scheduled for Wednesday. The GTPlanet Community Club just had a race today in the Monday Sessions and also a Time Trial. So, we make our own…which is cooler.
Yes OpticZero (i didn’t know), but since we have some kind of online races, like the seasonal, and, for the most of them, the vgt, are really amazing cars, PD could even think for some fitting event for these cars… anyway, i’ll search for the race you mentioned, thanks. The only problem is that could be that due the time scheduled (i am in Italy), i can be unavailable…
I’d love a B-Spec update, but we REALLY need course creator. It’s one of the reasons a lot of us bought the game again.
Yeah, I loved the course creator, but it would be nice if PD brought it back with newer textures and better editing options.

Spec II… 1.15, whatever, it better be good. If the features we wanted are added, I’m hoping on the last minute… party train.
I’m allergic to hype trains but party trains are my favorites.
Can only hope it’s not a routine maintenance, but, I’d say the chances of a neat update are rather… high?

I might go on the next train, with my trusty Kangen Water glass… that is, of course, if that train is headed towards a good destination, like Track Editor metropolis and B-spec ville on the tour.
Best thing PD could in 1.15 is to take the things that are already in the game and make them available in all game modes (standing starts, mechanical damage, fuel/tire wear, penalties, 16-car grid, etc). If they don’t make those options available offline they might as well stop calling GT “the real driving simulator” and start calling it “the real catch the rabbit simulator.”
You didnt give up on PD yet? Im did that a long time ago. I feel calm now. You cannot expect a reasonable options like standing starts from them.

The best gift PDI could give players is the course maker they advertised an entire year ago. I’m sure I’m not the only one that feels a little resentment towards their false advertising.
I do, too. But I wouldn’t say that PD false advertises if they bring the content later on. But every company says things that won’t happen. Look at Rockstar. They announced Heists months before release; it is a simple mission. And yet, they still have not released it even after a year of the game’s release. It is a mission, that is easy. But if you look at PD and they are a small team trying to create a very realistic track maker and other features and these features have not yet been released, then that is understandable.

I’d really like to see that Alpine as well! That pivot point makes for something completely new and unique, and I’d love to see it’s functionality in-game. That paint/color scheme is cold as well. Me wants it!
