New Gran Turismo 5 DLC Approximately “Every Two Months”

Gran Turismo 5 Gran Turismo 6 November 10th, 2011 by Jordan

IGN has published their most recent interview with Kazunori Yamauchi, where he provides fairly detailed responses to some familiar questions. Notably, he offers a rough timeline of how often we can expect new content to be introduced in Gran Turismo 5:

I think that will include cars and trucks that we’ll be releasing maybe once every two months or so from here on out. What we do from here on is also really dependent on the reaction of the users to this first DLC that we just released because this is the first one.

It’s not clear whether the use of “trucks” (instead of “tracks”) in this sentence is the result of an inaccurate translation or transcription, but it is worth noting. Confirming recent comments from an SCEE representative, Kazunori re-iterated that GT5‘s future additions are ready to go:

We have a pool of materials that are possible to release and it was just something that I decided with the team. We decided the vehicles and tracks and content in this first DLC was going to be our starting point.

Exactly what’s in that “pool of materials” is up to speculation, but the 25 track logos GTPlanet’s community discovered earlier this year may offer some hints about what’s to surface from those murky depths.

Notably, Kazunori also re-confirmed that Gran Turismo 6‘s development is underway, and commented about how the game’s new features will ultimately be chosen:

Of course we’re working on GT6 already and I think what really will be the separating factor is something that we can’t update through a DLC is something that obviously has to be saved for GT6. Things that we can provide through DLC we will, so that’s really the market difference.

Thanks to all of you who sent this in so quickly!

I really wanna see changeable wheels on standard cars and more selection of wheels… like gt4. Lots of the gt5 wheels are kinda lame.. motegi racing.. come on.
Who else thinks it would be cool if they added the Ebisu tracks??

I would like to see the F1 cars from gt3 in gt5 along with some old F1 cars from the 70′s and 60′s and give us an Indy car or at least make an Indy style front wing for the pf1car we have now, I mean Indy is in there lets not waist this great track with lemans cars

I would pay $100 for a new menu system and user interface. This one that shipped is crap. How about making the arrow icon like a mouse on the computer. You could move it with an analog stick and navigate directly to the one of many choices on the screen instead of…..right right up over right down…woops…. over down left X uggghhhhh
One simple fix and you can still use the same mess of a system. Or sell me some more DLC I can only use online, without matchmaking of course, if I have enough time to find one using the DLC car I want to drive, I might actually get to use it.

Gran Turismo is A Sponsor Of D1 Champ, How it comes dat we have NO DRIFT events in GT5?

There are in fact Drift events in Gt5, but I would “jizz in my pants” if they decided to do a “D1″ themed DLC pack to release. The thought of at least one track dedicated to drifting with Kaz and his team’s effeort I’m sure they could come up with something quite special!

      Ebisu please Mr Kaz! ;-)

Sorry, how can you be happy for this? This is all stuff that SHOULD’VE been in the original, free DLC and i’m game. But paying for more crap that should’ve already been in just irritates me.

you’re right it should’ve been in but that would require us to wait at least another 2-3 years for them to premium all standard cars and put in all teh tracks they wanted..would you rather wait another 2-3 years for GT5 or pay as you go…i would go for the latter as the wait was already becoming excruciating

I doubt we’ll ever have current F1′s. Except Ferrari. U can thank Bernie Ecclestone for that. But wot about older F1′s like a 6 wheel Tyrell P34, Brabham BT-46 Fancar, Maybe some old lotuses, Maser 250F, Mercedes & Auto union Silver arrows? Wot happened to the Type C Streamliner in GT4 (plus the others now missing in gt series)?
Wot i would really like though is some more Can-Ams like the Mclaren M series ( mainly M1a, M7, M8,), The shadows, March & Lolas, Chapperal 2E etc etc. It gives PD more of a reason to have the 2J and Toyota 7 in the game. Mentioning 2J, I saw it running in July. I’ve never heard anything like that and believe me i’ve seen alot of stuff. It has the big V8 rumble but the snowmobile engine being a 50cc sounds like a moped. Defo interesting

if it took GT5 4-1/2 years to release this game. You can be sure they took out content so they can sell them and continue having people to play the game while we wait another 4 years till they release GT6. So by then we will be playing with 20 year old LMP cars/touring cars/f-1 cars/nascars and the same glob cars and maybe a few 2015 cars…smh. They take way to long to make a game. It like waiting for Dr. Dre to release Detox. Hurry already! I dont like the fact they had no time to finish GT5 yet had almost 5 years? Will that be the same excuse for the GT6. You better hope it not. Depressing on there end.

Would you rather a slightly updated game year to year that still has DLC of much higher prices? With cars that were designed in a few weeks and 25% the poly-count (less defined in and out) and a cut & pasted physics engine? In three years the said game would run you back $195 (@ $65 annually not including bs DLC) and GT’s DLC is OPTIONAL. You can still enjoy Spa with friends that own it, u can still borrow the TC cars from friends that own them, You can request a friend paint a car for you from the paint DLC, & the suis and helmets are cosmetic intricacies invaluable to those who care less for them & a plus to those who care to make their drivers as dapper as their rides. You can pick and choose what DLC to purchase if you don’t care for the whole pack. I for one, wants new content. I won’t speak for anyone else. So BRING IT PD. If I like what’s being sold, I’m buying. It’s just that simple.

Can we finally get a livery editor for GT6? I mean it only makes sense since alot of us have our own online teams and would be great if we can make our own team liveries. Also PD should do away with standard cars in GT6. I don’t mind having less cars as long as they are all premiums quality.

I wish they had a similar business model as Ps Home-filled with micro transactions. If Home can have t-shirts, couches, and random items for your fake apartment…why not bodykits, rims etc. I know I’m not the only one that would pay to support my fav game.
