Get a Free SLR McLaren in Gran Turismo PSP

brabus-slr-mclaren-front

Worried about missing out on the pre-order bonus cars offered with Gran Turismo PSP? Don’t fret – you can still play this fun little mini-game to claim a free Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren! It’s simple: work your way through 8 different GT-themed challenges, score enough points along the way to earn the car, enter your email address, and wait for a PSN voucher code to hit your Inbox. A few caveats and unknowns:

  • The United States is not shown in the country selection screen. Although it is unlikely these generated codes (and yes, they are unique for each email address) will be tied to a specific region, there is no way to know for sure until the game is released. For now, I recommend U.S. visitors select the United Kingdom as an alternative.
  • The email address form has trouble with international keyboard layouts – if it’s giving you trouble, type in your address somewhere else, then copy/paste it into the game.

Thanks to CaptCalvin for digging this up!  Remember, the game hits store shelves this Thursday, October 1st. When you get your hands on a copy, head over to GTPlanet’s Gran Turismo PSP forum to share your thoughts and impressions!

The car given away is the same that is part of Qore Episode 17 in the US. I wouldn’t be surprised if the code is region locked. You may have to redeem the code with a EU Store account on your PS3 and download it. Then login to the US account for the PSP transfer to make it work. Note this may or may not work, but just a theory to get the car code activated for those in the states.

I alway get Server cannot be contacted if I choose Australia, so I chose the UK as the country, went through first time, code works fine.

GT PSP is awesome, best couple of bus trips I’ve had in a long time… probably wouldn’t sit down at home to play, but I’m going to hook it up to my TV just out of curiosity.

I can’t get the car as I get the “can’t connect to server” error message as well.

I have blitzed the tests every time… the car sounds are the hardest for me, followed by the reflex test.

  6. Tim

Just won of the SLR’s in that game it took me 3 attempts but the questions seem to repeat themself’s alot just in different orders so I was able to remember the questions

I already got the game yesterday night September 30th 2009.

    Thoughts?

Controls: You will forget that your playing a PSP.
Grapgics: Not bad at all, especially when you remember you are playing on a PSP.
Soundz: Now that’s a different story. PSP sound… No base… all trebel.
Game Play: I currently have more than 350 thousand Credits as you start of with 100 Cr.
you can buy any car you want depending on current dealership of 4 companies every 2 days interval. Meaning the dealership changes every 2 days. One day means one race. 2 races means 2 days. Havent seen Ferrari yet Lamborgini appeared around day 3-6, but you can’t buy it anyway. Currently I’m listing the days on what dealers appeared. I made an experiment, I put the game on Manual Save. I bought a car then race with it then quit the game (Turned it off) without saving. Then came back started the game the dealership appearede on the same corresponding days. As of this early stage of the game, I can temporarily conclude that the dealership is NOT Random. And it is a cycle i believe.

PS. Customization wise, it’s the same with Prologue. You can change wheels, but not the rim. You can change the color of the car but No. Vinyl upgrade. You can Tweak but no engine parts upgrade. This game is more suitable for when you’re just killing time on a bus to the office. We’ll get the “Proper Game” when GT5 comes out I hope.

Expectations: Reached, but that’s not it… looking forward to buyin’ the Ferrari.

    Thanks for reading.

hi you guys i got GranTurismo PSP this morning not bad at all the driver experience is like gt5p it simulator so yeah but anything to special about it i give it 7/10

  9. Corey

I got one but I think it will end up like the Ferrari Challenge or whatever their new game is beta code from before. And since I don’t have a EU PSN I don’t think it’s going to work.

  10. RT*// WNDWLCKR3000

well, I tried it 4 times, got it 4 times on 4 different email-accounts and I got 4 different e-mails that are INCOMPLETE . I got not one code . what the hell is this? . wndwlckr

  11. TOLL-Scibba-HRT

im not going to worry about that challenge because i ready pre-order from EBgames and im going to get a special code to unlock the ferrari enzo going to get GranTurismo PSP nowwwwwwwwwwwwwww can’t wait to get it today is 8.18am in the morning for australia haaaaaaaaaaa

  12. Peterjford

    @viejaloca
With the pre-order code you get the car right away, no need to save up enough credits, and you get a special color that is otherwise not available in the game. So if you want one of those cars right away, or just have to have a Lambo that matches the color of your shag carpet, you should pre-order.

  13. FlareKR

So simple… Not unless your computer hates you.
This game is the only one giving me problems on my computer, when I press the arrow keys on the first challenge, THE WHOLE WINDOW MOVES, and I can’t see didles*it! Then the timer goes as normal, but everything else in the flash runs slow (WHO THE HELL CAME UP WITH THAT REACTION TEST, WHAT’S THE HIGH SCORE AREA?!?!). Then I needed that last 100 points to just touch that blue line, and when I was just about to press Japan (had 3 secs left), my mouse moves to the corner of the screen and freezes!!! AAAARRRRGGGHH!
At least I’ll still get my Bugatti for pre-order :D

  14. PJ

I don’t think that it will work for any US PSN ID’s. I played it, got my code, and when I was going to redeem it, it said that the code was invalid. Oh well,

  15. Peterjford

My biggest problem was with matching the engine sounds with the cars, 0 points! I got the code, I hope it works in the US. I wonder if you get this, and a code for pre-ordering if they both will work?

  16. Parking Is Hard

I ended up going directly to the EU GT site and got it to work just fine.

I’ll have my shiny new SLR (on my shiny new PSP Go running shiny new GT PSP) tomorrow. Thanks as always for the post!

  17. david

@Sam, its not that hard it only took 2/3 tries for me
and does anyone else from the us have problem getting the car?
cause i tired and it said either entered incorrectly(which it isn’t)
or it may no longer be valid.

  18. JohnC

When I try to submit my e-mail address it keeps telling me “Sorry. There was a problem with connecting to the server. Please try again”

Has the game been over loaded?

Has anyone else had this problem?

  19. FerrariFatboy

How do you stop your browser from moving the webpage up and down? When I press the arrows keys the page moves up and down so I can’t see the game.

  20. JDigital

Shit seems kinda broken though, last page when you win has white text on a white background, can’t see shit. And most of the trivia questions cannot be read for the same reason… then no instructions on half the games… took three tries to realize I needed to hit spacebar to shift gears on the gear shift test.
