The above image of a damaged Renault Clio in GT5 Prologue has provided a hilarious (and slightly disturbing) look at how quickly misinformation can spread throughout the internet.  Not one popular media article has accurately cited the source of the image, so this post should clear things up once and for all

The image was originally created by GTPlanet user Jantsu92, who clearly states that image was edited.  An hour later, the image was posted on the Australian GameSpot forums by ‘Rikusaki’, with an intentionally provocative message and absolutely no reference to Jantsu92 or GTPlanet.  This post was then submitted to gaming news site N4G, where it exploded in popularity.  From there, it spread to blog, after blog, after blog, after blog, with no end in sight.  So, the next time you see this image posted as fact or speculation, point them to this post and set the record straight.  If anything, nice work, Jantsu92 – it’s safe to say this wouldn’t have spread had the image not been so convincing.
