Fanatec has released a firmware hotfix for the Gran Turismo DD Pro and CSL DD wheel bases, addressing the stability issues some Gran Turismo 7 players have run into since update 1.71 arrived last month.
The fix ships as part of Fanatec App V1.5.4.1, which was released yesterday and quickly spotted in our forums by GTPlanet member RS60NR. It comes just a week after Fanatec confirmed it was investigating and offered DD Pro owners an interim workaround.
What the Hotfix Changes
The release notes are short, which is a good sign. Fanatec lists two items for CSL DD and GT DD Pro bases:
- Fixed multiple stability issues introduced after GT7 update 1.71, including force feedback loss, rapid wheel oscillation, and unexpected wheel base shutdowns.
- Fixed heavy oscillations when returning to driving after exiting game menus in RaceRoom Racing Experience, rFactor 2, and BeamNG.drive.
The first item is the one DD Pro owners have been waiting on. Update 1.71 was unusually deep, reworking GT7’s physics and force feedback output while finally switching on “FullForce” for the DD Pro, Fanatec’s high-frequency effects layer that adds fine details like curb and surface textures.
The combination proved a little much for some bases, and Fanatec’s interim advice was to dial back the FUL setting (which controls FullForce strength) until a proper fix was ready.
That fix is now here, and since it lives in the firmware rather than the Tuning Menu, it should mean owners can put their settings back where they like them.
Early Reports Are Positive
It’s early days, but the first reports are encouraging. In our forums, GTPlanet member Blade_Rudder installed the update this morning and reset FUL to its default of 100 after weeks of running it at 60. So far, no issues to report. Users on Fanatec’s forums are describing similar results, including hour-plus sessions on Auto settings and a lengthy Nordschleife stint without a hiccup.
A few hours of testing isn’t the same as a few weeks, of course, so we’ll keep an eye on how it holds up.
How to Update
For now, the hotfix is only available from the Fanatec forums. Fanatec typically runs new builds there for about a week before adding them to its official download page and enabling the in-app updater, so if you’d rather wait, it should show up through the usual channels soon.
Either way, the Fanatec App is Windows-only, so PlayStation players will need to connect the DD Pro to a PC to flash the new firmware. Install the app, connect the base, and follow the prompts to update. If anything goes sideways, Fanatec’s support site has a step-by-step clean installation guide.
Once the new firmware is on the base, try resetting FUL to 100 and give FullForce a proper go. It is, after all, the feature DD Pro owners have been looking forward to since June.
