Codemasters has just announced a new long term partnership with the FIA World Rallycross Championship that’s presented by Monster Energy. This coveted partnership allows Codemasters to bring forth the action-packed nature of World RX to DiRT Rally, which is now available on PC exclusive to Steam Early Access.

The first step in this long term partnership is introducing Rallycross Supercars, tracks, and racing modes to the game as part of Codemaster’s commitment to delivering regular content during the Early Access period. Current owners of the game will be able to enjoy this new content at no additional cost, while newcomers will be able to enjoy the content as soon as the game is purchased. Tracks currently built and included in the game include Höljes Motorstadion in Sweden, Lydden Hill Race Circuit in Great Britain, and The Hell Circuit in Norway. The latter to be included in the near future.

DiRT Rally’s Chief Game Designer, Paul Coleman, had this to say about the partnership:

“From the outset we wanted DiRT Rally to be the ultimate off-road racer and to fulfil that vision we knew we had to include World RX. Since the launched in Early Access back in April we have continued to add new, diverse content to the game and World RX will add another dimension that will challenge even the most experienced players.”

This news comes hot off the heels of the recently released ‘Tarmac Terrors’ expansion that introduced a wide variety of content to the game:

  • 12 new rally stages based at Baumholder in Germany
  • Owners Club Online Events – A second DiRT Daily where you compete in your own car
  • A second weekly event where we’ll be experimenting and throwing new challenges at you
  • 5 new rally cars featuring new Group B RWD & Kit Car Classes
    • Opel Kadett GT/E 16v
    • Opel Manta 400
    • Lancia 037 Evo 2
    • Seat Ibiza Kitcar
    • Peugeot 306 Maxi
  • New calibration and options screens in “Advanced Wheel Settings” (added in v.0.4.5)

DiRT Rally has been a popular topic among our community of PC gamers, with many comparing it to the original Colin McRae: DiRT. You can read more about Tarmac Terrors, officially known as Version v.0.5 in our DiRT Rally discussion thread here, and engage in the full story regarding the partnership with FIA World RX on the Codemasters Blog here.

My friends and I still play DiRT2. Easily one of the best overall games (not just the racing category) of all time. The A.I. alone are such a blast to compete against.

This is interesting news…. How much of an FIA competition is on the way?

This will be one bit of news worth wondering about….

After seeing the previews on the Steam page, I might actually buy a gaming rig *just to have this in my life*. The whole experience looks absolutely amazing, and it’s not even complete yet…

Oh snap! Dirt takes the lead again after beating GT to the Pikes Peak track release. And here I was wondering if the the FIA stuff was gonna hit GT6 after today’s maintainace. I’m not trolling and I wish it wasn’t so but GT really struggles to stay relevant.

    1. Donnced

Pikes peak was already in colin mcrae dirt on PS3..
Everbody says that the maintainace was on several games the same hours and days (GT6, driveclub, killzone 1 and 2 and 5 more)

And really, GT is not relevant anymore since GT4 at least.

GT2 having Pike’s Peak pretty much confirms Mickeman’s statement that GT struggles to stay relevant. GT2 was released 16 years ago.

I’m super hyped for this to come to consoles!!!! I love love love rally. Tarmac or any surface! I’m playing Dirt 3 right now…

I still pick up Dirt 3, too bad the online servers are so dead and I always felt it had a lack of content, though I do enjoy it still.

Never had much interest in rally other than for hooning around but Rallycross has my attention. Worth a purchase now!
