Today was a banner day in pop culture in England, so I stopped for fish and chips in Whitby on my way to Liverpool. On October 5, 1962 three events occurred and 2 dynasties were started. The Beatles released their first song, Love Me Do with Ringo on drums replacing Pete Best. And they performed their first official concert at the Cavern Club in Liverpool. These events proved they could write and record their own work, and were charismatic performers live.
The other event, on this date, was the release of the first James Bond movie, Dr. No, with Sean Connery, still the best 'Bond' in my opinion, starting a franchise that is still going strong, some 60 years later.
On an unrelated note, I spotted this poser in my neighbourhood. It's a JDM, of unknown identity, dressed up as a VW bus. The ad is pretty good too. I get mine delivered by Canada post, when they're not on strike, which they are right now. The van has been debadged, so I don't know what it is originally.
