Where are you guys getting your live updates?

At Grand-Am.com there is live timing and scoring

Here is a blog that is updated regularly

http://auto-racing.speedtv.com/article/rolex-24-race-blog/

I was wondering what happened to the #55, turns out Bourdais crashed into the #70 Mazda. The blog says the #55 remains parked, wonder if he means they are penalizing Bourdais?

Top 8 cars within 2 laps and within winning

Well now the race is approaching 300 laps and 6 racers are still on the lead lap.
Seems like a good race although Speed isn't helping us feed our visual thoughts.

Yeah buddy Brian Frisselle is running 4th! 1st-2nd separated by 1.1 seconds. Should be interesting to see if this one is as close of a finish as last apparently was.

Law must have had some trouble as he just dropped to 3rd (from 1st).

oh ish Frisselle into 3rd now!

I suppose Law could have pitted....

Great Montoya (#2) is out due to engine failure. The #1 car is leading now.

I'm watching now with 7 hours left. Whose 911 was that that went up in flames?

^The #88. I'd have to look up the team.

EDIT: ALLMENDINGER FOR THE LEAD! If only he drove like this in Cup :(

EDIT Again: Only for second, my bad. But still ^.

Love the German colors on the leading Action Express Porsche.

Anyone notice that Rockenfeller & Luhr are wearing Audi suits?

I hate it for the 02 car, everyone in that car did so good. Not sure who I want to win now. Part of me wants the 01 to win because of Max Papis but I'd love for Rockenfeller to win overall as well.

LOL! #7 FAIL! Wow, what a fouler. He went head-on into the tires at the pit lane exit wall. The funny part about it was that the announcers were talking about people hitting that every year about 5 minute beforehand.

Is it that hard to exit pit road? I could understand when the 10 did it since it was on cold tires and a still wet track, but in daytime in dryweather?

Also, Bobby Labonte is still in contention for a win in GT despite running out of fuel. He was leading.

We do know Dumas is fast from watching him in the Porsche RS Spyder, so I have no doubts that they'll be in contention. He's an impressive driver.

Also can't count out the Flying Lizards...That is a stellar team.

Good morning, GTPlanet! I haven't seen a whole lot of this year's Rolex 24. I'll make some brief notes...

* I LOVE those new Camaro GT-Rs! That's an awesome car around the track. Only thing that would be more awesome than that is if the Camaros had the classic Sunoco colors.

* I love the simplistic paintscheme of the #9 Daytona Prototype.

* It's great to see Hurley Haywood give Daytona one more go. If he's not in any motorsports Hall of Fame, he should be. He is just too awesome a racer all his career.

* LOTS of action and hard hits! Expect nothing less in endurance sportscar racing. I still remember when that one DP left the pits... all to hit a tire barrier, and whack a GT Porsche.

Less than three hours to go! I won't be able to see the conclusion, so congratulations to the winners overall and in the two classes.

Hey, where you been? was surprised to see you didn't post much about the race like you usually would.

Porsche wins overall 2 years in a row!!!! Plus a 2-3 finish in GT.

That's a pretty good start to the year. Not to mention that the 2nd place finish for the Flying Lizards is a great way to get ready for Sebring & Le Mans!

This was a pretty incredible feat.👍
Including the fact that the winning DP Porsche was using a first year V8 Cayenne engine.

Yep. In fact, thats the first overall victory in this race not by a Flat-6 engine. I do wonder what the guys at Porsche think of this development since its not an official factory engine. The Lazano brothers are gonna get a crap load of phone calls ringing off the hook now.

Well, what a long an miserable time the race was weather wise. BUT aside from that, it was very cool, lot's of action. I moved to the covered grandstands for the start because of the rain, which didn't help much, but it was something. The infield had it's share of creepers and idiots, so I pretty much just stayed out of there. But the grandstands were good seats. I'd like to summarize it all, but there are too many scrambled thoughts, I'm tired as hell and worn out from walking and freezing all day. It was cool.

The heritage cars were awesome, open top spyder, the old Sunoco Camaro's, Boss Mustang, old Porsche Copenhagen sponsored something, other old Porsche's that sounded so much better than the new ones, old Jaguar, 90's Trans-Am series Camaro, even an IROC car. :D They did a few exhibition laps, very neat to see and hear, and BTW, they smell great, whatever fuel they were burning was top notch stuff. Much better than the cars in the races... If anyone cares.

I met a bunch of very cool people, all the TRG drivers, The Flying Lizards, some of the Turner Motorsport drivers, haha I finally got around to meeting Alex Roy, and seeing the Polizei M5 in person. Only one couple of fans I met that were any good to talk too. Seemed like everyone else was piss-drunk and stupid, walking in front of my Jeep while I'm driving doing pelvic thrusts... Not a good idea... Or the creepy guy that kept walking over to my Jeep while me and my girlfriend were eating, breathing all heavy and drinking beer, he never actually left his car, so I moved. It's really weird, because I did not expect some of this behavior from what I would expect to be enthusiasts, hell, I've not seen it at Nascar races. When I pulled in at 830AM Saturday, people were walking around drinking, being stupid. I dunno, it has nothing to do with the race, but it soured my experience quite a bit. However, the main grandstands were nice, just very cold today with the wind. I've been to Nascar races and been in the infield, but never at night, so maybe that's what it was... 👎

I did not care who came 1st in the DP class, though I guess I was pulling for the Uberwurx Crawford, which had a tire go down and nothing but problems after that. I was hoping for the #63 TRG/Poliezi Porsche to do good, but they too had problems, but still finished. Boris Said and the Turner M6 did pretty well. Those RX8's spit flames like nothing I've ever seen before, and were the loudest things on track aside from the Turner Motorsports M6. The Camaro GTR's were pretty cool, one ended up having the hood and fenders amputated, but the other #59 I think it was did alright for the team. I've got some pictures to upload, along with some video, I'll put that in the Rolex picture and video thread. But that will have to wait.

If I do it again, I'm getting a motor home to rent and sitting atop it. That's the only way  oh, and a golf cart for mobility. Just so much walking. Hopefully Mikey can do a better job than I am trying to tell the story.

I pretty much watched the whole thing on SPEED. Yay for the Mazda guys taking the GT win.

Anyone else have the urge to fire up Prologue and run some laps on Daytona Road?

Haha, I do and at the same time, I've had enough for a while. Now listening to them, they aren't nearly as violent sounding in 5P either
