I have never seen a LMP2 car lose the windshield before.

#1 BMW dumped the 52 P2 causing that.
I kind of wonder if that car will be sent to Concord to figure out what made the windshield rip off in the impact.

50 minutes of green flag and the Valkrie went from 5th on the restart to lapped. Only the 31 and the 2 Acura's were competitive today. The WTR cars are crap and the rest are either undercooked or BOP'd out.

Wasn't able to watch the race, but kinda kept track by having Live Timing and GTP Telemetry on my work computer. From the looks of things, it seems like it was an interesting race. I noticed that the Lambo SC63 was leading the race at one point and was generally pretty competitive with the rest of the GTP field, which hopefully means that the car is still being worked on and improved behind the scenes (helped by what looked like a perfectly timed pit stop under caution). The Valkyrie was also looking decent on paper, getting up to either 5th or 6th at one point if I recall correctly.

Gutted to see the #31 AXR Cadillac lose the win, but I'll take a double-podium for the WTR Cadillacs, considering how the year has gone for Cadillac in both IMSA and WEC so far. I saw a replay of Tandy's crash, which was definitely pretty frightening for a relatively low-speed impact.

On the GT Side of things, happy to see Pratt-Miller * Ford Multimatic get 2nd and 3rd in GTD Pro. Gutted that the Pfaff Lambo didn't make it to the end after getting pole yesterday. I'm curious to see what happened to them later on, as well as whatever happened with the Proton 963 and the #25 BMW GTP. Was also rooting for AWA and DXDT, as it seemed both teams were running pretty good during most of the race.

I'm seeing that apparently a lot of the race was spent under caution, which maybe contriubted to the fuel issues that seemingly half the field had? Still goes under the category of bad strategy calls no matter what, but it's strange that so many teams had this same issue.

It's a massive shame to see such a long-term partnership come to an end, but if I'm honest, it's unfortunately not too surprising. On pure pace, the M Hybrid V8 has more-often-than-not been the fastest car on the grid among the GTP cars this year. However, come race day the team itself will have small operational issues that end up costing them better overall results. At a certain point, especially with a car that has never performed better in IMSA, that becomes unsustainable.

If WRT do indeed launch an IMSA campaign with BMW, then I'll be eager to see what comes of it. WRT is definitely a solid team, and while their results so far in WEC aren't the greatest, they do have a history of being strong contenders in both GT cars and prototypes (in the form of LMP2 cars). Granted, there's no telling if they'll actually get better results than RLL, only time will tell on that front.

To be honest, part of me was hoping that if BMW did end up splitting with RLL, Pratt & Miller would be taking the reins on that program. Still holding out that they'll get with Genesis when they come to IMSA.

I have a CDL but I have no interest in the other 10 jobs they want done, like moving race fuel tanks and air bottles . Getting the cars and a few millions $$ of equipment there in 1 piece is enough.

If I had the qualifications for it and the resources to move to Charlotte, part of me would almost be tempted to apply just so that I can get paid to go to the races. However, all the other tasks would do horrific things to my anxiety. :scared:

In any case, that all-but-confirms that Team WRT will be taking the reins of BMWs GTP efforts. Now the question will be if they end up committing to a full season, or just for the MEC rounds.

If they had IT jobs available and I could convince wife to uproot out family I would down to go to Charlotte

Honestly, the biggest bit of info here is that Penske still hasn't finalized their GTP Program for next year, and that Porsche is apparently open to customer and/or semi-works teams running 963s if Penske doesn't have an IMSA program for 2026.

For AO Racing, the easiest pick if they want to get into GTP is to take over for Lamborghini, but I have a hard time seeing them go for that if they want to actually be competitive in the class.

Unfortunately, seems like a standard practice for US-based motorsports. The Nascar teams apparently have their truck drivers do the same thing during race day (including grilling/grocery shopping which I don't see listed there).

Welp, I picked a bad time to check into the race on my lunch break. :indiff:

I see Cadillacs running 2nd & 3rd in GTP. Hoping they can maintain or even go for the win towards the end of the race.
Looks like the #3 got spun out by the BMW whereas the #4 got turned around by the Rexy Porsche, which was punted by the Mustang. Pretty chaotic set of corners.

Yeah, the Cadillacs are looking pretty good so far. Acura are on fire as usual lol
