I'll be waiting for reviews. And to see that there are many many more favourable posts here post-release than there are unfavourable. And maybe even for favourable responses to a thread I may or may not eventually create, asking about the things that concern me most.
Apart from GT5, I originally wanted a PS3 primarily for 2 other things, Linux support(for MythTV front end -like functionality) and backwards compatibility (for GT4>3 at the very least). What were once 2 PROs are now 2 CONs.
I have no use for the PS3's built-in media player and its abject failure to offer even remotely decent format support. I have a standard def TV so the enhanced graphics aren't going to be quite so enhanced. Similarly, neither is HD video a particular attraction for me, and HDMI definitely is not, so Blu-Ray Shmoo-Ray. More CONs.
Add the fact that I detest consoles (for many many reasons I won't bore anyone with here) and that GT4 is a total UI nightmare which has had me spending at least as much time waiting on disc reads, menu loads, level loads, and LINEUP RELOADS as I have spent actually racing, and you have one customer here who needs to see a LOT of greatness before he plonks down any cash for GT5, let alone a PS3.
I want to want it (really really want to want it), but as I say, GT5 needs to be over-the-top-amazingly spectacular for me to stomach buying another console. I've had my fill of being annoyed at bugs and hardware limitations.

Do you buy a music CD for just one song?
A better analogy: Do you buy a CD player to listen to just one CD?
Would you buy CD's at all if you couldn't play any CD on any CD player?
