I commissioned and paid for the Saleen because I wanted to give something back for the tons of content I’ve received over the years, both paid and free. We didn’t want to encrypt it in the first place, but we decided to after noticing that a lot of AC mods were showing up on various 3D model marketplaces. We wanted to prevent that from happening to our work.I may have unpopular opinion too, but what is the point of making private mods? Isn't the whole point of modding to make something for the community? Of course if you want to monetize it, fine, but giving the middle finger for the whole community because someone else is stealing your stuff just sounds weird to me. Unfortunately, every publisher will have to deal with piracy from here to eternity, more or less. It sucks, but that's just how it is.
Yes Ilja worked on it:Is it my imagination or have Smart Shadows been fixed (or just significantly improved) in CSP 0.3.0-preview322?
I'm using Automatic Splits now and resolution, viewing distances and edge rippling all seem to be a lot better.
Shadow banding (the 8-bit stripe effect) also seems largely gone now.
Is anyone else who previously had problems also seeing these improvement?
I haven't tried custom splits yet because the automatic ones seem to work quite well now.
I would love to race those PGR tracks again.. good timesThis is amazing. Have you considered pulling some of the PGR 3/4 maps?
Yeah, I get your view, but don't you think that anyone got any joy from your release? And that it really didn't encourage any groups to expand their grids? Why focus on just the negative and slowly kill the scene instead of focus on the positive side and keep the scene alive?I commissioned and paid for the Saleen because I wanted to give something back for the tons of content I’ve received over the years, both paid and free. We didn’t want to encrypt it in the first place, but we decided to after noticing that a lot of AC mods were showing up on various 3D model marketplaces. Why would we spend 3–4 months working on a 3D model only for someone to steal it and re-upload it on sites like Sketchfab, Cults3D, CGTrader, and others just to profit from it? That’s literally the reason.
I didn’t even need to share the mod in the first place. I mainly commissioned it for myself. The only reason I released it publicly was because I wanted the rest of the community to enjoy it as well, and I hoped it would show that there is interest in 90s Sports GT cars. Maybe that interest would encourage groups like URD, RSS, or VRC to expand the grid with similar cars. But that doesn’t really seem to be the case.
Unfortunately, I’ve already sent more than 30 reports to various 3D model hosting sites requesting takedowns of our model being uploaded and sold for profit. At this point, it honestly feels pointless to create anything for the public AC community because a few bad actors ruin it for everyone else. Even if I were selling the mod, piracy is something I can’t fully prevent. But at the very least, most piracy sites aren’t decrypting other people’s work and then selling the 3D model for profit like ACTK does.
In the end, the Saleen itself was pocket change for me. What annoys me is seeing our work stolen and redistributed for profit by people who can’t even import a 2D image into Blender.
You say nobody would want them but I would disagree, the Lotus specifically is a pretty big missing piece in SuperGT grids, and it seems like they do at least have interiors, I'm sure there are plenty of people using older mods with far worse interiors, like that Scirocco that people were working on fixing here some pages back.I take modding as a hobby of some sort, and to see if I can do it myself rather than rely on other people.
When you build a plastic model kit in your basement/garage/wherever you want you don't expect to sell it on ebay do you ? Well for me modding is the same. It's like doing a puzzle, see if I can piece something together and not **** things up in the process.
Lately I've been porting and working on the SEGA SuperGT cars but realistically speaking no one would want those because they don't have a detailed interior (arcade game limitations) but it doesn't bother me so why not do it ?
Yeah for those of us involved in the StarSector modding community, there was a huge cluster due to somebody adding malware to their mods over something incredibly minor (as compared to model theft) It didn't go down well.Let's keep things in perspective, can we? There's already an issue with malware being included in mods without irresponsible suggestions like this, however flippantly they're made. People who deliberately and indiscriminately spread computer viruses are far worse than anybody who steals somebody else's game assets, most of which already heavily 'borrowed' from legitimate IP owners in the first place. It sucks that hard work can get appropriated by others, but it's nothing new, hardly surprising, and affects everybody who produces quality content anywhere, not just in game modding. We all have the right to be pissed off when it happens to us, but severely disrupting somebody's life over it? Especially innocent victims caught in the crossfire? Hardly a proportionate response IMO.
It is incredibly annoying, but there's not really much that can be done about it. It's a real shame that Ilja gave the encryption tool to anyone who asked for it rather than just encrypting scratch-built content at the request of the modder, of which there is so little he could probably have done it himself and kept the tool itself private and under control. What actually happened instead was that the mod scene got flooded with low-quality encrypted rips, often with hard-locked basic mistakes that frustrated users and incentivised people to try and break the encryption, if only to fix the mod and make it more useable. If only high-quality scratch-built 'passion projects' were encrypted then nobody probably would have been bothered trying to crack them, as there would have been little point. I don't think anyone anticipated how encryption could be abused and used as a tool to flex shoddy mods, buts that's where we are today, and as usual, the good modders suffer.I commissioned and paid for the Saleen because I wanted to give something back for the tons of content I’ve received over the years, both paid and free. It maybe be caused by your used ppfilter and PostProcessing must be active, But please just use the official support on my Patreon or Discord server!View attachment 1520853
Peter Boese Since I clear installed version 3.10 and all the hotfixes, I've been getting this situation. All the recommendations to solve the problem did not fix it.I hoped that this would be resolved with version 3.20, but no.
Yeah, I just really don’t understand why some have this “everyone must suffer” mindset when they get slighted by one or two bad apples. Like I get it sucks seeing models get taken and sold on model hosting websites, but AC is pretty much the only modern sim racing game where you can even port models in and make mods like that, so there’s really not that big of a market for those websites, is there? Like I doubt someone’s going to pay to port the model back to AC, and if they do buy it, what are they going to do? Just stare at it in Blender? The only other place I could see a model going is GTA5 pretty much. And that game’s modding scene is pretty quiet these days. You say nobody would want them but I would disagree, the Lotus specifically is a pretty big missing piece in SuperGT grids, and it seems like they do at least have interiors, I'm sure there are plenty of people using older mods with far worse interiors, like that Scirocco that people were working on fixing here some pages back.

There should be puddles, in the config file are puddles mentioned. But I did not made the ext config. On Road Atlanta (Uzzi & Rainmaker & Jim Lloyd) I don't see any puddles when I have rain active.
Known issue?
I do think about the people who actually enjoyed our release, and they’re the reason I still want to finish our 993 car and release it publicly. If ACTK ends up decrypting it, as he probably will, I honestly couldn’t care less at that point.Yeah, I get your view, but don't you think that anyone got any joy from your release? And that it really didn't encourage any groups to expand their grids? Why focus on just the negative and slowly kill the scene instead of focus on the positive side and keep the scene alive?
Yeah, I think Ilja shares some of the responsibility for the push toward decryption as well. In my opinion, encrypting 3D models that are straight ports from other games isn’t something I can really support unless they’ve been properly modified beyond just fixing holes or basic cleanup. That said, there are plenty of mods built on top of models from games like Forza, Gran Turismo, Project Cars, and others where encryption makes sense. Some of those mods have been heavily edited, fixed, and expanded with additional assets that the creator may have actually purchased. That's totally understandable, but ultimately futile. It'll just get decrypted as soon as it lands.Yeah, I think Ilja shares some of the responsibility for the push toward decryption as well. Some of those mods have been heavily edited, fixed, and expanded with additional assets that the creator may have actually purchased.
There are also several mods on ACTK’s site that include parts which were originally paid assets. Yes, the base model might come from Gran Turismo, but the same model can also include scratch-made parts created by other 3D artists who specifically ask modders to encrypt their work so those assets don’t end up being resold by others. I think a lot of people forget that part of the equation. Just because someone is using a base model from Forza or Gran Turismo doesn’t necessarily mean they want to encrypt it. Often it’s because they’ve purchased additional 3D assets like body kits, exhausts, roll cages, gauges, and other components to improve the mod and avoid it being just another basic port.
In many cases, the creators of those assets require the modder to either keep the mod private or encrypt it before sharing it publicly, specifically to prevent their work from being stolen or redistributed.
I currently have several mods that will likely never be released publicly and will only ever be shown in images, mainly because they include 3D assets from other creators that I purchased. Technically, I could share them, but I would have to encrypt the models first. Even though the base cars are largely direct ports from Forza or Gran Turismo, the paid assets I’ve added to them require that level of protection. Ideally, this wouldn’t be necessary. But when you buy assets from 3D artists, many of them specifically request that any public release using their work be encrypted. Otherwise, they ask that the project remain private.
So if I ever wanted to release those mods publicly, encryption wouldn’t really be a choice, it would be a requirement from the asset creators themselves.
(sorry mods, idk how to double quote on an already made post)
Also if anyone is interested (or likes making skins) the BMW M3 Touring GT3 is headed to the Nurburgring 24 Hours this year.
So would be nice to see that skin or the launch livery on the bare carbon mod we have lol.
Yeah well the car is encrypted and Ceky didn't provide a template so we're **** out of luck lolI was literally just loooking at this car yesterday and was looking for skins and wondering why i couldnt find bugger all. You just answered my question.
Why would that stop me skinning it? can you not get rid of the carbon or something?. It has a AO e.t.c so i'm thinking it can be done?.........but you probably looked into it more than me to be fair, im just asking questions.Yeah well the car is encrypted and Ceky didn't provide a template so we're **** out of luck lol
Who watched yesterday's Arlington Indycar race? Great racing and I'd say it's more interesting now than F1 battery world championship. Sure Indycars have hybrids too but they are more in "assistant role" like they used to be in F1/DRS/ERS era.
So amazing race...Kyle Kirkwood's overtake on Alex Palou alone made it worth watching. Sure I don't really care about the oval races but the street circuits are amazing to watch. Since we can't really play Indycar on AC, who of our "AC gang" is waiting for the iRacing Indycar game?
Why not? Most of the current and older Indycar tracks are available, and several modern and older Indycars are also available.Since we can't really play Indycar on AC
Rolling starts maybe? IDK.Why not? Most of the current and older Indycar tracks are available, and several modern and older Indycars are also available.
Rolling Start App apparently fixes that issue. Another idea is to spread apart starting positions and have them far from the starting line so by the time the first car gets to the line it's at speed. Are they perfect? No, and I get that not everyone will be happy with that, but that's how I deal with it.Rolling starts maybe? IDK.
It has an AO mapping to skins, It's a bit ****ed. but eh, (this is not the correct one, I just print screened it)Why would that stop me skinning it? can you not get rid of the carbon or something?. It has a AO e.t.c so i'm thinking it can be done?.........but you probably looked into it more than me to be fair, im just asking questions.
i have tried over a hundred different builds of the 0.3 test and I agree that the shadows are less of a problem in this release build. Is it my imagination or have Smart Shadows been fixed (or just significantly improved) in CSP 0.3.0-preview322?

Well you can't export it since it's encrypted so...Why would that stop me skinning it? can you not get rid of the carbon or something?. It has a AO e.t.c so i'm thinking it can be done?.........but you probably looked into it more than me to be fair, im just asking questions.
