I've always been wary of 3d clouds. However, I have mixed feelings about Pure's new 2d clouds. In certain circumstances they look great (for example, at sunset), but at other times of the day or under certain light conditions they look cartoonish. What do you think?

What do we think of the asr 1992 March?

What is the latest and best LMP2 mod for AC? I thought maybe one of the newish VRC prototypes was LMP2 but they're all P1 cars. Search isn't mega useful for this thread since it doesn't sort by date.
I've used the VRC Rebellion as a LMP2 standin before by ballasting and restrictor, but there aren't many LMP2 skins for the car....

Yeah... I have a similar issue.

Does anybody can make a list of cars (car mods) that used in current WEC, GTE, GT4, LMS, NLR classes? At least can someone divide the mods by the eras? There are a lot of cars and a lot of specs and when I want make a class race, I can't pick correctly...

""
WEC-LMP1 2020s
Porsche xyz (x's mod)
Orace abc (y's mod)
Toyota opr (a's abc pack)

GTE-GT3 2020s
Ferrari 123 (kunos)
Mercedes 890 (b's mod v2.982)
BMW A80 (789's mod)
""

etc.

My goal is actually made some compilation packs for the modern racing car classes so people make skins, extensions, vao's for the cars that can used in a fair-equal paced cars in online events. Recently we made a 4hr LMS event and oh god, Rollovers' Ford GT kicked our butt.

All the VRC LMP1s can be balanced somewhat to each other. VRC has alternate data file that slows down the Toyota and speeds up the Bykolles.
All the URD "modern" GTEs too are already balanced to each other. They are all faster than the Kunos GTE cars though.
Ditto are the URD/RSS GT3 cars(which are slower than the aforementioned GTEs). There is no proper Ferrari GTE cars that can race with the URD cars I think. I haven't tried anything Rollovers at all.

I think i've gone about as far as my limited knowledge can take me. I'm really happy with where things have ended up thanks to a lot of help from people here and on Breathe's discord channel. I just have one more thing I want to do before I make it available. I'm hoping I can convince someone to help me get digital numbers displayed on that leaderboard. There's a few other things I want to do or have others do (like maybe a better road mesh), but they are nothing that should prevent me from throwing it out there for others to use while I work on those things.

Also need to get a few people to give it a test run to make sure the performance is ok. I have an average system and it seems at times I get little micro-stutters. Want to make sure it's just my system and not a track problem. You know where to reach me.

id like to test it for you.

Which part is cartoonish? the overall brightness or the blue color? Maybe the contrast?
Which ppfilter do you use?

Those skydomes are just pictures from a real sky. Sure they had a processing by the creator and a processing inside Pure. Its pretty difficult to put in a snapshot of a sky from a certain condition as a template for multiple conditions. Actually those skydomes are a very lightweigt variant to have a decent sky, without using much calculation.

The other part is, the final LDR image is always a combination of HDR->LDR adaptions/tricks to composite a new picture without the loss of too much information. If you would create a realistic HDR image with a real brightness of the sky and the ground, the LDR conversion would clip the bright parts of the clouds or clip the dark parts of the ground. Also the Autoexposure (based on reflections brightness in Pure) would be too low, because of the brighter sky. So the LDR image is a fake composition of separately adapted sky and ground. Maybed this is what you mean, that the sky is something separated from the ground?

Or because of the color noise in such pictures, i used a picture denoiser (i found a good working one - "ON1 NoNoise AI"). But i was aware of the cartoon effect with it. But maybe its already visible for you. But if you put in such noisy picture (its not much, but visible), you would have an artifical dome. You would realy see a texture in the sky. So minimizing this noise helps to accept it as a field of objects (clouds) surrounded by air (nonoise blue part).

This Oreca made by @TabsGaming42 is fun to drive and has a lot of skins, also seems like skins for Rollovers Oreca works for this one too.

Finally learned how to add crowds, but before I go through the process of adding them in spots around the track, do people prefer crowds or no crowds? It's not that it's hard to do, but if no one uses them, i'm not going to bother.

can you not make them selectable with/without or including a .zip file thats override to what you like.
BTW for me spectators are a must. I see lately to much,so clean, perfect tracks, so sterile, so boring, that it lacks every form of immersion, while in real life nothing is perfect looking, there is dirt, old paint, leafs on the track, repaired tarmac and thats also included different looking spectators.
So please avoid the rendering of all the same few spectators in a row like you see in Parco Roccio https://www.racedepartment.com/threads/parco-roccio.219745/. This is btw even more notable in the grandstand, because besides the repeating row effect horizontally, you also see that effect in the depth/rear. I have noticed one modder limit the amount of spectators and does use seats with all kinds of random colors, so at speed this give you a appearance if it is an full crowd grandstand without that repeating look of the same spectator row.

I think your 2D skydomes all look amazing @Peter Boese, and the performance gains over 3D clouds is appreciated. I can now see why testers were so excited about them. Not sure if anyone's pointed it out yet but there's a noticeable artefact on the 'Windy' skydome (I use the hi-res suite) down near the horizon that can be quite visible on flat tracks. It's like a large square of a slightly different shade. I can try to grab a pic if you need it.
Is the resolution the only difference between the low-res and hi-res skydomes, or are the cloud images and formations different too?

I am really pleased with the new Pure! I think when I first saw the cumulus clouds against a bright blue sky they looked a little bit artificial but I soon got used to it. Under all the other weather conditions and with other types of cloud it looks great in VR and single screen. I can run without PP now and it looks fine. Just did a race with 16 opponents in moderate to heavy rain at Goodwood and it never dropped below 80fps in my Rift 2. Single screen frame rates are spectacularly better. I'm using the hi-res skydomes. Thanks for your work!

One question for all: there is now a misty condensation inside the screen in wet weather. This looks very convincing. But I get it on my rear view mirror even in an open sports car, which is not realistic really and I can't wipe the mirror even in VR :)

Is there a way of turning this feature off or graduating it?

Unpack data via content manager, rename data.acd to something else so that the game uses the configs from the newly created data folder instead of the packed data.acd, add FLASH=1 to the [LIGHT_3] block inside data\lights.ini, save, test, pack data via content manager.
I feel we should also point out here that if the data file is altered (unpacked and repacked),
you will not be able to join an online server running the original data file!
So do keep this in mind if you make changes to the data file, always keep a backup of the original one.
Better yet, make your own tune of the car (eg w Assetto Corsa Car Tuner) , that way keeping the original one untouched and ready to go online on other servers than your own.
On your own servers (should you run them ) you can then run your tune version, and integrate a download possibility for ppl to download your version directly from within CM , without it overwriting their original version of the car.

Cheers!

Anybody know which version of Oreca 07 is best around?
that is all quite subjective what is "best" ;)
for me personally I find the wec_lmp2_oreca07 best one from the 4 versions i have... and rated it higher then the rollover version...
(but it does not say which author in my CM gui and don't know where i got it from tbh)

@Masscot the ext_config.extras.ini was meant to replace the ext_config.wipers.ini, should have clarified that in the post. I don't see any negative effects but maybe for the next update the wipers file should be removed.
Speaking of updates...

The dashboard_extras.kn5 has an outlet for each of the two digital displays, DISPLAY_DATA_1 being the right one, DIGITAL_DISPLAY_2 the left one. The displays "geo_int_display_data_01" and "geo_int_display_data_02" could also be lit:
