Content Launcher has a tool to compress everything it can for all the cars, tracks, skins, sounds everything. it also keeps track of what has been compressed so if you add something new it will only compress that
ARRRRRGGGGGGUHHHHH..
CM does NOT have a tool to compress... it simply accesses win 10/11 native compression (as does Compactor UI)

PLEASE STOP WITH THIS CM HAS A COMPRESS TOOL BS THNX

well the mistake is easily made , if you see how they described the tool in CM ...

So not really the guys fault :)
They should refer to this Windows (LZX) compression as "compact" , like the windows command ...
to not confuse it with DDS compression (DXT5)

Anyway , to summarize it, you can do both things to save extra diskspace:

1) compress DDS (if they aren't already by the author of the mod)
and save the DDS files as DXT5 compressed ones, without mipmaps (saving an extra 25% just by ommitting the mipmaps alone)
You can do that now because AC will create the mipmaps on the fly (for DXT5 compressed DDS that is, not if it's DXT7 appaerantly)
For compressing to DXT5 without mipmaps you can install ImageMagick (thanks @Frank25 for sharing this ),
and use this batchfile (thx @andrevr for helping to provide the code to do the loop over the subdirs!)
(copy the batch file in the main car skins folder, and it will go 1 level deep into each skin directory and compress all found DDS files to DXT5 without mipmaps).
You can change the "mipmaps=0" to "mipmaps=1" in the batch file if you do want mipmaps created and stored in the files (but again this is not needed).
Once the batch file has run cut and paste it in the dir above (dir of the car mod), so you know you have used it on that mod, and so you can easily do step 2

2) compact the files of the mod (not just the DDS files, select the entire folder) using the CM Compress tool ( which should be renamed to CM Compact tool for making it less confusing) or better yet use Compactor instead (does a better and faster job) .
tip : if you have pasted the batch file in the root folder of the mod , you will easily be able to select the car folder (sorting on Date changed).

And for those who missed it , doing only step 2 does not give you as much gained diskspace as doing step 1 and then 2...
I tested this and compared (see here).

I agree with compactor, fast and and does the job well

I do. But it feels different to the WSC one... and I can adjust the steering forces to my own liking with Legion's version. I've also added the option of a set of 70's slicks for a bit of fun too.
This is it: the most essential explanation for why encryption sucks (especially data encryption). For those of use who don't just use the sim for taking pretty pictures, being able to tinker is essential!

The real appeal of AC is to "have it your way": making changes large and small to suit your niche interests and preferences. BoP, adding new features to setup, changing tires, etc, etc, etc. I'd sooner keep a mediocre mod I can improve and customize than a "good" mod with an annoyance locked behind encryption.

We're all just grown up dorks playing with cars in our basements. People need to lighten up and stop telling others how to play with their toys! If you want to scream and cry about theft, go join an American politics forum.

Edit: meant to add something that might actually be useful to someone. I usually tinker with physics, but thanks to @shi I recently learned how to use CSP to change wheels, which led me to using CSP mesh edits to make quick deletions of vanity license plates, ugly spoilers, and more (you'll often need to use CM to redo the AO because the removed part might have a shadow). Shi's post has some nice wheels to start playing with, and his code is easy to adapt to other cars: https://www.patreon.com/posts/car-update-and-92444275

@RMi_wood When i drive your Spa 93 i have winter scene. Can't get it right...
Like the track though!
you've set in the wrong way the seasonal setting in CM of course then. Already explained many times how to fix it, just do a search in this big topic, you will find how to fix (sorry i don't remember the settings by memory right now)

what's the passenger seat for? taking your mum shopping?. Class should be changed to street instead of race as no real race car has a passenger seat in it.

It's a fictional car why are you so upset about an extra seat lmao

Thank you, but i was already aware of that. But even if i drive at this current date, the trees look frosty...

Wanna race ?? Who's finished first, the Jidé or the Piper ?

Hint: I wouldn't bet on myself at the moment...
Hello everyone, first tests on Paul Ricard for the Jidé today! Still a lot of work, I hope to be able to offer this kit car from the 70s to those who are interested soon!

I remember seeing the winter trees thing as well. I messed around with seasonal settings, etc. and did not get it fixed. I wonder if you and I have a modified version of the track?

Open up the ext_config.ini and delete every seasonal stuff out of it (make a backup before). Then it should be fixed.

Has anyone here had a difficult time finding the right settings for AC? I feel like my cars constantly understeer into the wall.

I just got a DD wheel and it seems to have a very jolty feeling when on the limit in AC. Once slightly over the tire's limits it has a jolt then completely understeers, there's little to no resistance past that moment of feedback; it just feels like it has a very small window and isn't a smooth transition.

Though, the feeling is completely different in BeamNG - the car's tires actually feel like they're at the limits and are 'rolling' over themselves in fast, tight corners. I'm starting to think it's just down to the tire model in AC falling behind in comparison to BeamNG's constant iteration. That makes me ask the question... when was the last update in AC... something that wasn't in part by a mod?

Istanbul Park 2021

Istanbul Park 2021

I completed most of my updates for the istanbul_park track done by Enver Bozkaya (SRTR), ACU, OSRW & the AC Reboot Team. All credit for the track go to those guys, not me. I had intended it to be a mod for the original track, but the list of changes grew bigger than expected so I decided to keep it a standalone track. I know some people hate that and some like it, but I think it was necessary.

I do intend to keep tweaking things moving forward, but I think the track is in a good enough place now for people to enjoy. I would still like to get a better look for the inner grass and I have to figure out a better setup for the main straight windows. I'd like them to be transparent, but can't seem to figure out why they are so dark.

If you are using any of my past test versions, please delete the old track folder first.

List of changes from the past test versions:

-- Changed the track name to Istanbul Park 2021 since I based a lot of my changes around an F1 2021 video.
-- Grass tweaks, still not where I want it.
-- Time of day and lap number displays for the start gantry.
-- A few more trees added to dead space areas.
-- Fixed a reversed sponsor banner on one of the bridges. Let me know if I missed any other ones please.
-- Collision physics to some of the tyrewalls that were missing them.
-- I prefer the kerb cones as non-moveable objects, so by default they are pass thru objects. If you prefer them to be moveable, there is a track skin named MoveableKerbCones that you can enable so they move again.
-- Support for Pyyer's F1 Classics and Bring it Back extensions. Please read the included Directions text file so you know how to install what's needed for his extensions. It's pretty simple. Install my track. Install his extensions into my track folder. Install the contents of the 'Files_for_Pyyer_extensions' folder and overwrite when it asks. I tested each extension and didn't see any issues, but please let me know if I screwed up any of them.

As always, feedback for improvements is welcome as well as pointing out any mistakes I made.

If someone got problems with Pure Gamma 1.0 or Pure LCS 0.40 in VR, please install the latest hotfix 1.43.
It has fixes for VR and now Pure Gamma works properly with deactivated PP again and Pure LCS can load the right PPfilter sript in VR.

The problem is due to the AC session start. Sometimes it is not clear if PP is activated or not and so it needs a double check.
Should work now.

You find the hotfixes on the Pure Discord Server or at the Patreon - Community Hotfix chat.

I'll prepare a new Pure update soon...
