A nice selection of real world race cars.
What was with the Spitfire?
Here in the UK when i did my city and Guilds auto tech course in the 70,s all schools had one of the chassis to teach basic tech.
If i recall, the only thing it did well was the tightest turning circle ever and it had a basic swing back axle.
How on earth did you make that work?
Not sure obviously in this case, but if you take a triumph spitfire or any car and put race suspension on it and change a myriad of other things it is not really a triumph spitfire, or certainly not the road one. I'm never sure why so many people struggle with that concept.

I've got a question about config files.
It seems there are a couple of places where a config file can be located:
  • in 'assettocorsa\extension\config\tracks'
  • in the track folder in subfolder 'extension'
With Prototype Kyalami 0.95b there are configs in the layout folders (eg. 'kyalami_2016\gt_challenge\extension') and one in the main track folder. How does this work? Which one takes priority?
In my understanding, the loading sequence should be this:
  • track\layout\extension
  • track\extension
  • \assettocorsa\extension\config\tracks\

If there is a common section between two or more ext_config.ini, the last one is the "winner".
Unless there is an "ignore other config" statement, in this case the ext_config.ini loading sequence stops.

hi, this one comes with data packed and unpacked... so which 'version' is the intended/best one... ?

A plea for all who publish/share mods, please keep only the packed data (data.acd) or the data folder, but not both.
(And data.acd is preferable, cause if then someone puts it on a server, others can join - whereas with a unpacked data folder this might give issues)
 
A NYC circuit but i'm open to more street ones aswell as long as they are based on real cities.

Hello, I was frustrated by the AI in CHiQuiFReaKy's version of Yas Marina, specifically the strange sidelines that made the AI swerve wildly and crash right before turn 5. So I made my own, and also made a new fastlane while I'm at it. It's the first time I try doing an AI fastlane so it's not perfect by any means, but the AI now laps about 1 second faster than it used to with the default files (tested with VRC's 2023 F1 and RSS' GT3, hopefully I'll keep testing with more cars when I find the time).

I also included the old fastlane in the "fast_lane.ai_old". They should be both safer and faster, but in case there's an issue or you don't like the AI, you can easily swap fast_lane files.

As always, hold shift while loading the track to load the sidelines.

 
Before I contact VRC support I wanted to ask here if anyone has been having trouble with the Formula Alpha '24 since the update? Mainly with the gearing. The update notes say the gear ratios were changed and it feels like they have been lengthened. It feels like the car is much slower to me. On long straights like the Kemmel Straight at Spa and out of turn 11 at COTA the car doesn't feel like it needs to get out of 6th into 7th gear. I'm around 4-5 seconds slower around the tracks I've tested at so far.

I wonder if VRC support can tell me what the old ratios were? I would like to try that before going in and having to figure out ratios for myself since I don't like tinkering with things.

In the 1st Lap 10 cars crashing out.
I tested with GT4 & GT3 cars on Kunos Tracks.
Is there a fix for the Maldonado Mod?
I have the same problem with CSP 0.2.4/0.2.5-preview1 and I tried every option in CSP related to the AI, but with no success. So I had to switch back to CSP 0.2.3/0.2.4-preview1. There seems to be a bug in CSP 0.2.4/0.2.5-preview1. Some cars randomly pressing no throttle, or pressing throttle 100% of the time.

Someone wrote a little app to kick out broken cars.

There is a leaf spring that sits atop the differential. We dismantled it and inverted the three large leaves so they were facing up. This gave enough resistance so the axels wouldn't fold under.
 
I finally figured out how to use the polar coordinates filter in Gimp to properly bend logos around the tyre! Previously, I have used curve bend and perspective, which can produce quite ok results, but not perfect, and it takes a lot of fiddling around.

Polar coordinates creates a perfect curve without any hassle.

Anyone has this? When starting content manger, sometimes goes away with a restart, sometimes repeated restarts needed with similar messages, sometimes a small blue screen error. Eventually restarts, sometimes get it when exiting a race and returning to CM. Only get it when using CM, no other Apps. Also Simhub drops out randomly. Help!

Something similar to this is what i'm looking for.
Speaking of NYC circuits, one does "exist" but it's a free roaming map. Maybe the creator of FDR can make it happen, it's there, he just needs to work on it, billboards, guard rails and to know about the layouts.

I know this sounds stupid, but is there any way to slow down the AI speed of all vehicles on a particular track?
I'd love to watching the car body at low speeds, similar to the GT7's dynamic viewing mode


My favourite track, Patriot Course at Virginia International Raceway has a great CamTool setting made by Unovox

I know I can drive myself at a slow speed and turn on playback mode, but if I can let the ai drive, I just enjoy watching... Well sometimes I'm lazy lol



Try editing ai_hints.ini in the Data folder to add the following

[MAXSPEED_0]
START = 0.223
END = 0.225
VALUE=50

But it didn't seem to make any difference

The values for the track are percentages. So "0" = 0% (=start) while "1" is 100% (=finish). So a speed limit for the entire track should be:

START = 0.001
END = 0.999
