I didn't have that prob.

I am having a VERY VERY ANNOYING thing going on in BF2, for like months now:
I have been idle for a month now but I decided to pick the game up again yesterday. So I'm playing and playing around, then just a few mins ago I earn the basic resupply badge or something like it. I earned that thing five times already and it just refuses to pop up in my awards screen.

It takes BF2's stat server some time to update. If you happen to get a ton of medals in one day, it could easily take a day or two for their stat servers to recognize it. It also depends on the server you play on, it might have latency with the stat servers. It could be a number of things, but I would say wait a few days, and then check it out.
 
Also make sure you're playing on a ranked server! :)
 
Just picked up the game a couple of hours ago. Seems pretty cool so far, I've only done single player up to now though. Is it just me, or does it seem very confusing at first! Please tell me i'm not alone in finding it quite difficult at first.
 
Now I have trouble getting into servers...:rolleyes:

When I click on multiplayer, it shows me all servers, then I try to enter one and then 3 things can happen:
-it freezes immediatly while it should give me a loading screen, the music just fades away after trying to enter and the game keeps frozen in the server display screen.
-it freezes AFTER I load the map, I can see the messages that were sent at some point and who died and all, but it freezes from that point on and it doesn't get me into a team or something. Everything is just frozen.
-I make it through both. But thats rarely the case, I only managed to get through to it by pressing cntrl-alt-del sometimes and hope it will work. Sometimes it unfreezes then, but most of the times I'm just switching from cntrl-alt-del screen to BF2 screen without any results...

HELP:(

Oh you'd be surprised. You can get medals when playing in any server, it's just only when you play in a ranked server does it actually count. I'm pretty sure I got a medal in an unranked server then couldn't figure out why it wasn't showing up for a while.

Try going on play now rather than handpicking a server, taht seems to work for me

I would normally think of it like "no way thats not gonna work", but I have had some weard experiences with games:odd:
 
I never use Play Now. That function ONLY uses EA's server list, so therefore, you'll be dealing with every noob in BF2. So, no thanks to that.

I use my favorites list often, considering I've found about 4 good servers to play on. Meaning, the admins are always available to ban a$$hats, as well as, there's usually a good fair play going on.

You can't get medals in an un-ranked, the moment a server has removed ranking status, all medals are sustained at whatever value you had before entering. You can ask EA the same thing, it's not possible.
 
Reality mod is a modfication of battlefield 2 that basically is a realism mod, you die faster and like the bullets in your clip arent there and stuff like that and you don't see what your health is at etc.

POE is just a mod with new maps armies vehicles etc. just a little twist on the regular bf2.
 
Great Wall is a hoot. I'm lovin' that map. Assaulting or defending those towers along the wall itself is some of the most fun I've had yet in BF2. I'd almost go as far as to say that single map made Euroforce worth the download.

I'm waiting for the inevitable 24/7 Great Wall servers.

Well I cant really enjoy Euro force. I can join a server when it's on great wall but when it changes to Operation Smoke Screen it crashes to desktop, then when I try to get into the server the same way I did when it was on Great Wall it crashes to desktop. I'm confused.
 
Hmm. It seems that whenever i try to use a server i am kicked out 'by punkbuster' because i have 'high ping'. What does this mean?

Also, i can play online if i use the play now servers. What is the difference?
 
No its free, just create a free account. If you want to skip lines, well you have to pay for that.

But FilePlanet also have a download manager of there own, which speeds up your download speed from there servers.
 
Already seen a tiny 8 second clip before the official trailer... Probably won't be getting it.
 
That clip you saw is most likey to be a fake one. If the graphics are the same looks then it is most likey to be a different story.

You need to re-download, and re-install. We had 3 people in our clan have that happen, and it's basically a bad download of the install file, which causes a corrupt map file.

Like I posted before.

Play Online Now! - Connects you to a random open EA-owned server. (This method sucks, because mainly noobs play there)

High Ping - If you are browsing available servers, look at the number that's left of the player count. That's your ping, or better yet, how long it takes for you to relay information to the actual game server. If it is higher than a certain amount, it's possible that you'll get kicked for a high ping. This is something you should be aware of, at all times. High pings can also be caused be incessent downloading on your network, or if your connection isn't up to par. (Ideal Server: less than 100ping)

Not exactly something you want to celebrate. That means you had 4 times as many deaths as you did kills. Dieing four times to every kill, nah, I don't want that metal.

www.bf2s.com is where you should get your medal information. You can also setup a personal leader board of all your friends, to see who's doing best. But, remember, it's based on the cookie you have for that website, so even trying to send it to a friend, is impossible.

OFFICIAL WORD ON BF2142 DEPLOYMENT - UPDATED

Official confirmation on the sequel given. UPDATE: EA confirms PC only, spills new details and screens

EA and Digital Illusions have officially confirmed that work is currently underway on Battlefield 2142. The news follows the appearance of a teaser trailer for the sequel yesterday, which seems to have forced the duo into finally admitting the existence of the title.

In a new community update on the Battlefield 2 website, which starts "Today we have some really big news to share with you", we're informed that BF2142 is in development at the Digital Illusions Stockholm studio and is scheduled for release this autumn - as the teaser trailer stated.

"...this is a departure for the BF series as we're going into the future - something that a lot of you wanted to see happen in the BF universe," the powers that be say in the update. "We're creating a ton of cool features that you won't have seen in any BF before, including cloaking devices, mines that follow you, awesome new rifles, guns and grenades, and of course, MECHS!"

Apparently a full, official announcement on Battlefield 2142 is to be made later this week. "Stay tuned and we'll keep you posted on how 2142 is coming along," is the word.

++ UPDATE ++

Since this news post, EA has released its official press announcement on Battlefield 2142, confirming it at this stage for PC only. According the announcement, the sequel will actually ship winter 2006 as opposed to the previously mentioned autumn, so minor bad news there maybe but to cheer you up additional details on the game have been spilled.

Reiterating in its announcement that the year 2142 has seen a good portion of the Earth's surface covered by ice, leaving nations battling for control of remaining land, EA has informed us that players will fight for one of two military superpowers - the European Union or the newly formed Pan Asian Coalition. Up to 64 players are supported in battles and, like Battlefield 2, combatants fight on the front lines in squads or direct assaults in Commander Mode.

Victory in combat reaps numerous rewards - "players increase their rank and unlock awards, including new weapons, medals and more" - and all manner of futuristic weaponry and vehicles is being stuffed in.

"Armed with a devastating arsenal of hi-tech assault rifles, cloaking devices and sentry guns, players will also do battle using some of the most imposing vehicles known to man. Massive battle Mechs wage fierce combat on the ground, while futuristic aircraft rule the skies. When facing one of these new behemoths, players will need to use their wits and an arsenal of new countermeasures like EMP grenades to level the playing field," states Mr. Press Release.

That's a better one to have. But, search the UBAR to find what medals you really want.



On a sidenote, I won't be able to play but one day a week for a while. I'm changing over to night courses at my college, and I work nights after it, so I won't be on that much, except for Sundays. Oh well, I guess leveling up will have to wait. :(
