Well, I've just played my first HQ match, and it was the most insane thing I've ever seen; 10 players fighting on the Shipment map.
Got 51-6 in kills, 20-kill streak (my best so far), not to mention, like Scaff said, lots of points. Almost 1000!👍

Yeah .. Headquarters matches are awesome. I'm normally either playing Ground Wars or HQs when I'm on. The map I can't stand to play an HQ on is Wet Works. If someone gets a chopper you might as well go ahead and die like 5 times before its gone :(.

So far it's only put me in Shipment or Crossfire (the one I liked best), and once in Wet Works, but the host ended the game before it even started...

But on the Shipment map, the helicopter sure does a lot of damage too, yesterday I had another match on that map and the same heli caught me 4 or 5 times. It really sucks.
they´re easily shot down of at least 2 or 3 team members shoot at it, but nobody else was trying to, so it did it's work cleanly.

I'm really liking Headquarters matches, and so far they're the ones where teams need more teamwork to get things done, otherwise it's useless.

I've never had a match in Shipment. Ever. My favorite maps to do HQs on are Bog, Countdown and Crossfire. Everyone else seems to hate them though.

Yea omnis and I had some great matches yesterday. BUT they put us on different teams, which sucked because we got 1st and second or so on many of the games we played. We would have dominated together. Omnis killed it one match in the bog, he got over 200 points and I slacked around 170, BUT then we played a team deathmatch in the Crash map, and I got my best score so far----246! What happened on that one, Omnis, on most of the games we played, you had like upper 100's, and on that one you had less than 100. Anyway, it was fun, and I got so mad when you knifed me in that bog match. Haha.

Yeah, I thought it was neat that I finally got on opposite teams. It was most likely because you invited me while already in a game, and there was only room on the other side.

But, yeah, I got raped by those clanmates that were on your side during that Crash map. The 2 of them and you just dominated. Once you get a few people to hold some key positions on that map, forget about it. Airstrikes are deadly on that map and your side team kept calling them in one after another along with your choppers.

Gotcha.

BTW, one thing that I HATE is when you play a game against an entire clan. It has happened to me twice, in domination, every member on the opposing team was in the same clan, and everyone of them used headsets, and they dominated. I got first on my team with only 76 points. Thats pathetic.

^ Yes, being part of a clan match sucks. They usually dominate pretty easily since they're well organised. Thankfully it doesn't happen all the time.

Us 'little people' (non-clan guys) should be able to get to work as a team within a small time (if at least a few are wearing headsets), but it just doesn't happen.
Many times I had a great strategic position and was doing lots of kills, only to find out in the worse way that my team mates were scattering throughout the map without any tactic whatsoever, leaving me alone and getting owned themselves...

One thing's pissing me; I seem to be sucking more these last couple of days. I don't know why exactly, but I've noticed I'm having more difficulty aiming properly, don't ask why.

Still, don't be afraid to invite me for your matches. :)
I always answer 'yes' to any invite I get from GTP members. Unless I'm already playing with one or more, in which case I keep sending invites to those I see are online so they can join us.

Problem is, Beerz, Im never on when you are. I guess cause you are in bed most of the time when I am on. But Id love to play with you, Ill check often when Im bored to see if you are on, maybe sometime tomorrow morning.

I just played a domination game in the bog, and got 40 kills and 8 deaths. 258 points. Thats my new best. I also increased my streak to 16 I think. I know I at least got 15.

D_P - Yeah, time zones suck. I'd really like to play with you too.

Man, I hope the patch, if it comes, also fixes the problem with team members picking for each match.
I just played a brilliant (for my standards) team deathmatch in Downpour, got 27-8 in kills, and my team was crushed. All the great players were on the other team, and as none of my team mates killed more than 10, the other guys had it way too easy. And for the next match, the system just put all of the other team's top scorers together again...
I t would be expectable to see, if not on the first match, at least from the second one on, some attempt to level the teams so the results would be closer and the matches more fun for everyone.

Nice shooting tongiht Omnis! 👍

Had a couple good sessions.... :)

Did anyone get an invite from me yesterday?

I did, but was unable to join any of them (either server full or at one point I needed to reset my modem and router :ouch:).

Still had a good few matches yesterday (mainly free for all) playing around with differing weapons, got to use the claymores now and I have to say I love them. Like the MP5 with stopping power at short range (rubbish at a distance) and the M16 is great at a range again with stopping power.

However I picked up a M14 last night of someone, complete with red-dot scope and found myself an excellent spot on a roof-top. Planted the claymore and built up an impressive little body count, single shot it may be, but with the red-dot is very, very accurate and does a lot of damage. Managed to place a clear first in that one, with my first gunship called in as well.

👍

Forgot to mention, did anyone else notice that any points scored this weekend will be doubled. It was in the 'Message of the day" box in the lobby, starts Friday (it did not specify a time). Lots of HQ games for me this weekend then.

Yeah, I noticed that too, forgot to mention it here. Lots of hours of gaming for me too, starting Friday after I get home from work.

About the M14, can you use it decently on a ground fight situation?
It is extremely powerful, no doubt about it, but the huge recoil makes it less practical when 'street-fighting', at least to me. Maybe I suck even more than I care to admit...

I've gotta go back to using Claymores, loved them too. I switched to 3-Frag one I got it, but I found the Claymores more useful for my style of playing.
Crappy thing is, I believe Juggernaut people don't get killed by them, only very seriously injured. And I'd really like to have an icon of some sort, telling me when one of my Claymores blows up or is blown up, so when I'm on a roof top or other strategic position and I hear an explosion I don't have to check on my babies if they're still there. :D

Your claymores cannot harm me! Don't you know who I am?!

Yeah, I just sprint through the claymores. You have to set up two in order for them to be guaranteed effective. I like to put one in a doorway and then put the other facing the opposite direction like 2 feet beyond it. If they're sprinting, it will definitely catch them.

Indeed, the wife is not going to be happy with me at all over the weekend.

I've not really had that much of a chance to try it in a range of different situation, but I can imagine its a pain to use in a fast moving situation. For those I have found the MP5 with red-dot and stopping power to be excellent.

Do you not hear the 'click' when they are tripped?

I try and position mine within earshot, so I can hear them being tripped and then check for the +5/+10 points, if I don't get that I know I'm going to have company.

Agree, I caught onto that one quickly, set up a nice chain of them to catch people out.

I just love the fact that they give you some advanced notice of those getting close to your back, and quite often help rank up the kills nice and quickly as well. I also love that you can get quite creative in the placement as well, as stuck right in front of a door they are a little obvious at times. I set one up around 3-4 foot from the ladder that takes you to the top level of the construction site, you can't see it from the outside and the majority of people just climbed straight up and got a face full of ball-bearings.

Just thought everyone should know---there is a new message of the day up, and it says play online this weekend and earn DOUBLE XP!! Starts friday the 7th.

OMG!!!!!!!!!

 That's what Scaff said on post #373, D_P.

But it was about time that 'message of the day' changed...

its nice to see u PS3 guys have COD4 and the orange box, 2 games wayyyy better than halo 3. so hows the online compared to xbox live?

The online lobby could use some work but overall once you get into a good match, it can be one of the best online experiences in a game today.

I fully agree. It's extremely immersive, realistic (since you're trying to kill 'humans' instead of AI), and if you're into well balanced matches, it's a white-knuckles experience.

Speaking of well-balanced, I have been playing team deathmatches today, and in one I was owned like I've never been before. In the end stats showed my team had 4 guys, the other had 6. We lost 750-160. It was on Pipeline. I had the highest score of my team with 5-14 in kills. How pathetic is that?...

On the other hand, I just had my best moment ever on Ambush, which I never liked that much. 27-8 on kills (highest score of the match), we won, and we were 4 against 5.

I'm forcing myself to use the M14 every now and then until I get the Red Dot Sight for it, to see if with that I find it useful. I love it's stopping power, but that huge recoil is just frustrating.
Strangely, I've been killed by M14's and on the replay it doesn't seem to recoil as much, even on repetitive firing it seems to hold better. How's that?

Yes you do.👍

Guys, I had the most awesome Team Deathmatches last night. Super balanced between both teams on every one, and a lot of fun for sure. The one I liked best, although my team lost, was one in that map that I can't recall the namen, the one with the missile silos on open ground.... Anyway, we lost 750-740, and when they got that last kill, I was just shooting at one of them, so if I had been 0.4secs faster, we would've won. That's how awesome it was.

And yesterday I got what you guys talk about, playing against a clan:[GOLD], and all of them had headsets, they were extremely well organized and picked up on every strategic spots, very nice to see such good teamwork.

I also yesterday unlocked the MP44, and I was both satisfied with it and frustrated by it.
Satisfied because it feels very light on the hands (figure of speech), it's more powerful than I anticipated and it doesn't recoil as much as the M14, although it's fully automatic.
Frustrated because it doesn't allow for a single attachment. Nada. Zip. Niente.
All you can do is change the camo.
And the iron sight is a bit weird in terms of what you can see while aiming at a distance, but still a lot better than the M16 (which would be the only weapon I'd use, slapping the grip in it, if the iron sight wasn't so damn huge and blocked my line of vision partially).
I believe this would be a killer weapon with a Red Dot Sight, my guy even seemed to run faster and for longer distances while holding it, and aiming was so fast, feels like an SMG.
Anyone here used it? What do you guys think?

EDIT: Anyone got any invites from me yesterday?

Yes you do.👍

My new favorite weapon is the M16 with the red dot scope, added with extra ammo, deep penetration, more damage... makes for a fun combination.

Didn't get on until late last night, no invites from you though.... I sure hope they improve on the invite system soon.

Actually, I think this game is impossible without the RDS.

Crap, I meant the M60 (LMG), that's the one with the huge iron sight. The M16 has a great stock sight. I've been using it less later due to difficulties in proper aiming which is crucial with that one because of the 3-shot burst.

Well, off to play some now, double scoring waits for me. :D

EDIT: Double score wasn't working (at least for me) until a while ago (even the 'message of the day' was missing), but now it's working fine, and I've got to say it's just great. 👍
When on the match, you kill someone and you see a +20 appear, assists are +4. When I first saw the +20, I though I had killed somebody else that was behind the guy and was really happy with that lucky event. After some more kills, I began to realize it was just statistically impossible... :dunce:

Just ordered this game! :)

Can't wait to play it, most of the stuff said about it here and over the net has been positive!

Was wondering how big a set up in combat is this compared to GRAW2 for example? because I don't really buy a lot of shooters..

I don't know really what you mean, could you rephrase

The most recient shooter I bought was GRAW2.... whats COD4 like to play compared to that?

I meant step up instead of setup in my previous post, my bad...

It's a lot faster and more arena-like. It's kind of hard to describe. It's a lot more intuitive and more pick-up-and-play than GRAW2, though.
