I've been playing on 360 more often, since I have some guys I hang around with, but I started PS3 game because of my Croatian friends.

I have really low rank on PS3 - around 12, 15 - which is annoying to people with higher level when get pwnd s :D

I'll be on today later afternoon, so we can get around. C ya.

Great, I'll be looking for you. Do you have a headset?

Well, I've played enough times on each map to have a very defined idea of which I like/dislike, opinion mainly supported by the results obtained on each of them.

I really like Pipeline, Overgrown, Countdown and to a lesser degree, Strike and Bloc.

I dislike (although sometimes do well in there) Bog, District and mainly Ambush. Shipment goes without saying, since it doesn't even look like CoD4 with teams in there, just total carnage and you die without even knowing why...

What I find interesting is that the ones I like best are the ones more tactical and where it's easier to snipe, which I don't do (not with a sniper rifle) because I suck at it. I believe it's because I'm not as good in close combat as I am at medium/long distance shooting, and I like the tactical manouvers (sp?) állowed´on those, it's extremely addictive and more real-like (to me at least).

EDIT: I forgot to add Crossfire, which I really like too. 👍

EDIT2: I also like Crash a lot. :D

Yeah beerz, I think I’ve noticed the few times we’ve been on opposite teams that when you take me out (and that obviously occurs much more often that I would generally prefer ;) it seems like you are usually patrolling a specific predetermined area (I’m guessing). Also the common characteristics of these seem to be good and usually relatively unobstructed site lines, solid cover (ie concrete block or equiv) and elevated to some degree.

I’m also curious if you’ve taken the time to find 2 or 3 preferred locations per map? The thinking being that when exposed by an enemy UAV you would then have different spots you could alternate between to keep from squatting too long in 1 location. So from a tactics perspective am I generally on target here?

Some other random questions:
• Does one keep their perks when picking up a dropped weapon? I’m guessing you actually loose the perks.
• Is there any way to save the controller options? I notice that each time I go online that I have to reset the y-axis control to invert.
• Is there any benefit, other than personal preference, to fiddling with the aim sensitivity? Right now I’m using medium.
• I’m wondering as being a noob if replacing deep impact with juggernaut might not be a bad idea. I notice that I’m quite often a hair late on the trigger or in acquiring the target in tight firefights, so the extra health just might make a positive difference.

Apart from that most of the time I still feel like a 10 year old showing up to a varsity dodge ball fight what with my anemic 0.35 K/D ratio. But even though I’m receiving welts aplenty, resulting in a decidedly purple and blue hue to my ego, it’s still fun :)

Sounds like you guys are the exact opposite of me, I usually run all around the map killing everyone in sight, whereever the red dots from the UAV appear, thats where I go. When I snipe however, I prefer to stay in a couple spots that I find are good killing places.

- I was kinda wondering the same thing, like if you kill someone and pick up their P90 and they have double tap perk, do you get to use that perk, what is the ruling?
- I have never tried changing the controller options but sometimes I have to increase the headset volume after already doing it in the main options menu
- haven't tried a different sensitivity, just kept mine at what it was originally at.
- It depends, you will face being utterly hated by me and most other people if you use juggernaut, but it may be a good investment at the beginning if you are having trouble aiming on quickly.

Nope, perks are player-exclusive. The only one you can "inherit" is Overkill, by taking out your pistol and swapping it for a gun on the floor.

Well ya, thanks for straightening that out, come to think of it, it would probably be pretty hard to carry over someone else's perks to yours while in game.

Although the answer is probably the same I was actually thinking on a slightly different tangent, which is do you possibly keep the perks of your chosen weapon if/when you pick up another? Gotta be nein, but you never know.

And I didn't realize jugger carried such a bad connotation with it. Since my primary goal is to compete on an even playing field I think I'll avoid knowingly pissing off you guys (and others). Fair's fair.

Jugger is no different than any other perk. It gives you an advantage, that is the purpose of it, and reguardless of what people associate with it, if it suits your play style, use it. I prefer stopping power though.

Stopping power does well enough for me :)

Like D-P said, it is a good perk and gives you and advantage over other people but that is the point of all the perks, the strategy is to pick a perk that works best for you, if it is Jugger use that if it is Stopping power use that etc... . I only said that I hate Juggers because I usually go a whole round into them and if I miss a few shots they are still alive and I am reloading for an easy kill for them. Or I plant a claymore and they don't die then they kill me. This causes to me to swear alot etc...

Hey guys, Sting here, your resident COD4 PC refugee. The topic in PC Gaming is dead and I dont wanna multi-post, so hope you guys dont mind me talking with you lot about the game even tho I have the PC version.

Just made 1st Leutenant tonight yay.

No, we actually mind that. Go away.

j/k, dude. Btw, how's the online mode on PC? Do you get the 'server connection timed out' on the lobby or 'connection interrupted' during the match?

G.T - Not bad at all, playing against top players and still managing 22 kills. 👍
What perks were those guys using?
I'm also impressed they were getting kills like that (and especially lots of them) shooting through walls with an M4, the lowest powered of all the assault rifles.

That pisses me off, having sometimes to shoot 10+ bullets with the RPD through a wall to kill the guy. Yes, with stopping power & bullet penetration. And yes, every single bullet is hitting the target.

Speaking of single-shot kills, today I saw this guy on Bloc getting a ridiculous amount of kills with 2 bullets in the torso (looked so easy that I couldn't believe people were dying from those measly 2 bullets placed like that). Couldn't figure what weapon he was using, but he had the RDS and stopping power in it. It wasn't an LMG or a shotgun.

They must have been using the Deep Impact and Stopping Power combination. Plus, one of the guy's profile said his favorite weapon is the M16, so maybe he was using that. It would make sense since the kill cam always plays back a little gittery here, so it could have been either rifle...

And yeah, I hate the people who kill you in a couple of shots. It does become annoying after a while.

Although it probably came across different, I really wasn't taking ya that seriously. However at the same time I'm all about fair play and sometimes even though a game "allows" for a certain tactic (ie shunting alla GT4) doesn't always mean it is sportsman like to take advantage of it. That's all I really meant re using Jugger.

More than welcome AFAIC. Can't speak for everyone but I'd be shocked if anyone around here seriously took issue. Shocked I tell ya :D

BTW anyone else fairly surprised/impressed this thread is approaching like 500 posts?

Yeah, what's up with that? We should be reaching the 1000 mark by now. :D

I'll reply to your PM tomorrow at work, too tired to type much more on the PS3, it's 2:30am now and I have to get up for work in the morning.

I am impressed but at the same time not really. I am impressed because not many people seem to be using the thread for talking about the game, maybe about 10 of us are mainly around. I am not too impressed at the same time because although there are other games out (drakes, assassins etc...), this is funnest in my opinion. Plus I basically monitor this thread non-stop when i am on the computer.

Yeah .. I do the same thing pretty much. I got up to Brigadier General last night .. wewt! Time to get up to the next one. I'll see whoever is on shortly.

I do often get the server connection timed out when trying to connect to a server. In fact I get it several times and for servers I only played a few hours previous, it's a drag. However, once I find a connectable server which give me good fps online is a BLAST!

One thing’s really pissing me off. Well, a few things, but some more than others.
One is the host ending a match. Yesterday I waited almost 10mins for a match to be found, only for the host to end it even before the countdown after the weapon pick had reached ‘3’.
I then proceeded to find another game, another 5mins wait, and the exact same thing happened. Another few mins to wait for a match to be found, the matched started (at this point i said wow), and the game (team deathmatch) was at 30-20 when... the host ended it.

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE?!?...

I really hope the patch fixes this, like posted, by automatically choosing another host. Even so, these guys should have a penalty of some sort. I mean, they end the game and it doesn’t count as a defeat for them, although they ruined it for everyone else playing it (even his own team mates? And if they’re winning, it counts as a win? But if any other player has to leave a match while it’s progressing it counts as a defeat for them? Wow, that’s really fair...

Another thing is precisely that. People should be penalized for leaving the match, like they are, with a defeat. But there should be more to it, like in R:FOM, in which not only you would have to wait 5mins to try to enter another match but also it went in your permanent record.
It’s really pathetic to start a 12-player team deathmatch, doing fairly well, and all of a sudden, you’re being owned left and right, only to see in the end that your team now only has 3 or 4 players against 6. And usually, one of your players only got like 1 or 2 kills throughout the match, dying 22 times, which really helps your team’s score...

On the upside of things, yesterday I was playing the most amazing game at Countdown (definitely one of my favourite maps as you guys know), using my faithful RPD, Grip, 3 Frag, Stopping Power and Bullet Penetration, and was already going on a 17-kill streak (without dying a single time!!!), when I ran out of ammo.
I searched around one of the warehouses nearby for any weapons dead guys ‘left behind’, and all I could find was a Barrett .50Cal and a Dragunov. Just perfect for the worst sniper in the short history of CoD4...
Still, I managed (still trying to figure how) to kill 2 guys with it before getting killed by another one that entered the warehouse, which I would’ve killed easily if I still had the RPD. That’ll teach me to get the Bandolier next time...

Just today at lunch time I decided to play a match and it was not only a big mistake as the most frustrating match I played since I got the game.
Started 6-6 players (full field), and we started to get owned pretty quickly, I was wondering where the hell was my team and what were they doing, since I could see the green arrows on the UAV, but the points count on our side almost only increased when I killed someone.
Countless airstrikes on us, countless choppers on us... One of the airstrikes (that’s right, the same airstrike) killed me twice, since I respawned precisely on the spot the 3rd plane was dropping the bombs. That life lasted me 0.2secs. Literally. 0.2secs. I didn’t even had time to move an inch from where I was, before I got bombed again.
Bottom line: Defeat by 210-750, we were in the end 5 against 6, and 2 of my team’s players (almost half the team), put together, got 4 kills and 39 deaths. Still, although I died more times than guys I killed, got top score on my team with a whoopin’ 9 kills (11 deaths). Not much of a consolation...

On the subject of weapons, I’m getting a love/hate relationship with the P90. I love it because of the lightweight feel, the fast aim and the increased capability of running faster and longer while holding it. I hate it because... well, hate is a really strong word. Let’s just say I dislike something about it, which is, despite of it’s incredible fire-rate and pretty good power for a Sub-Machine Gun, you need (imo of course) too many bullets to kill someone. I mean, I kill a guy with a M4, which is one of the weakest powered weapons of the game, using 20% of the bullets that a P90 (medium/high powered weapon) needs. And that’s with stopping power.
And even with the double tap perk, it still takes an insane amount of bullets to kill someone, bullets that would allow me to kill 5 guys with an M4.

Sorry about the rant, guys... :(

Oh godz, I love the P90. I haven't unlocked it yet but anytime someone drops one, I always make a point to replace my pistol with it. Maybe its a Stargate SG1 thing cause they used P90's, but I feel better when I'm carryin an AK and P90. :D

One gripe I do have is that a grenade launcher on my AK costs me a perk place. Pretty sure I can carry a grenade launcher with two grenades for that, and more special grenades or claymores but alas its not to be. Even more ammo for my grenade launcher itself would be appreciated, cause when you're going around that blind corner and dont know whats on the other side, a grenade launcher is a good thing to have :D

Yea, I just unlocked the G36, and Im using the grenade launcher until I get the red dot sight. Its an easy way to get some kills. On a side note, I used to love the G36 when I picked it up, but now not so much. What do you guys think of it?

G36? is that made by Logitech? :)
Would be cool if logitech made a lightgun for use in games, and G36 would be a perfect name for it.

Rented it yesterday for seven days. Multiplayer online is pretty sweet. Being a Halo fanatic like me it takes a bit of patience, but fun nonetheless.

I've played through two missons on single player. The game looks great! 👍

D_P - I've only used it on the single-player mode, but I'm curious as to how it works online, since I loved it on the missions. But so far I haven't read many good things about it.

One thing I've noticed is that the stats bars on each weapon aren't very reliable, compared to what you 'feel' when actually using them.
Also, the MP44 has a low 'Accuracy' on the graphic bar, which doesn't stop the caption below it from saying it has a good accuracy, which is something not found on any of the other assault rifles description, not even on the G3, which imo is the most precise of them all, followed closely by the M16.

I hate the G3. I bet it would benefit greatly from the red dot sight, but I couldn't put up with it long enough to get 25 kills.

YES! I finally got a headset, a Jabra BT135. It's not exactly the best, but it does its job fairly well.

Shame I won't be able to test it out for a while though, since the earliest I'll be able to play is Saturday, and I have a presentation due on Monday. Bleh.

My last exam is tomorrow, soooo, From then until January 6th, when class starts back up, Expect me on a lot!

Expect to see me less in the next couple of weeks, it may be my user but both my brothers are coming back from university and will want to be playing a ton. So just a heads up that in a couple weeks it may not be me you are talking to (on the PS3).
