Well im sure most people would be terrible you play with G.T. since your "teh dogs bollocks" at COD. Playing against you is so aggravating, unless you like your k/d ratio going down XD

Nah I respect that people aren't as good as me, or are good in their own way, but sometimes I really do get put with terrible people, truely terrible (like finish on scores ~ 4 kills and 12 deaths consistently) so it's hard to win a TDM.

But if you think I'm good, imagine playing against 4 of me. I and my mates usually win every TDM when we play together (we all have above 2.0 ratio on leaderboards)...

Uhh... most of the time we'd be lucky to pass 5 minutes.

Of course on larger maps it takes a lot longer.

Played my first couple of games this morning. Up to rank 3 (well, 3 XP off). Free-for-all and Killhouse, which was interesting. Came 5th in that, 12 kills.

I'm not surprised, me and you had a couple of games together a long time back and were trading MVP between us consistently winning each game. That was just 2 of us, and really in many games of COD all it takes is 1 or 2 good players together and a room can be completely dominated by their pure ability to slaughter. Even a well co-ordinated team of average players can come quickly undone by just 1 or 2 players who sit above 2.0 kill/death ratios.

G.T, sounds like I absolutely must add you. I'm surprised I havent done so already. I would like to play a few matches with you. BTW, dont try and add me yet, my list is currently sitting at 100.

I dont think I have played someone with a K of over 1.8. My K used to be really bad but now in a TDM with a good connection I will almost certainly get the top score with a score of 25 - 40. 30 being about average for me. I have my downs though, several matches in a row where I just suck.

You may look at my stats and say I suck because my K.D is only .95, but its going up and hasnt gone down in months. I just wish I wasnt so rubbish when I got the game. If only I could play you guys with a good connection, unfortunately, internet hasnt gone that far yet and so we can only play with lag, but any connection is better than none at all, just look how far we have come in my life time or 14 years, from uber slow internet to somewhat fast internet with many many possibilities.

BTW, ratio doesn't really matter usually. People may have had a really bad start but have become really good. I know a few people with around a 1.4-1.5 and they're better than me.

Mine has risen from really low to 1.41 and I'm average IMO. I'll have the odd good game where I finish miles ahead of everyone else but most of the time I'm in the mid-top end of the scores. I very rarely get equal kills to deaths or finish with more deaths than kills though.

I'm hopefully going to be getting the game on PS3 soon so I can play with you guys, the last time I played CoD on my PS3 I was level 1 on WaW but a fairly high level on the 360 version. I got some guys shouting at me for being a level 1 'n00b' but finished miles ahead of them I'm hoping to do the same with CoD4 👍

My stats are pretty poor as far as ratios go. Last time i checked i think i was on 0.88 or similar. If i always played it with an M4 Carbine with Red Dot it would be much higher, but i enjoy leveling up on all the weapons, minus the shotguns. Because of this i'll end up finishing some games with poor kill ratios, especially if i'm slogging away with an iron cross Skopion or Uzi

Yeah, i keep seing names on this thread of guys who are obviously still active on CoD4, who i've not added to my friends list. Trouble is i'm mostly active here whilst i'm at work. By the time i get home i've usually forgotten who it was or what their PSN tag is and can't be arsed to go upstairs and fire up my PC to check

I actually made a written list of GTPers PSN's yesterday and added a chunk to my friends list when i got home and onto the PS3.

...still waiting on James to confirm me as a friend though. I only sent him a friend request about 3 months ago

I think you have to get to level 5 or 6 before you get the option of making 'custom classes' When you make your own classes you can choose your own favored weapons and perks. When you get a certain amount of kills with that weapon, you get the options of adding 'better' perks like red dot sights etc. You'll also get awarded a big chunk of XP for getting 25, 75 then 150 kills with that weapon.

There are 2 ways to level them up, Marksman and Expert.

Marksman
You have to get the following amount of kills with each weapon to progress through the marksman ranks for that weapon. For level 1 you need to get 25 kills (Red Dot Sight rewarded) Level 2 you need to down 75 guys (Silencer Rewarded). Level 3 is completed when you get 150 kills (ACOG Scope rewarded)

For sniper rifles it's simply 100 kills with each to unlock the ACOG.

For LMGs, you unlock the grip at 75 kills to lower recoil, instead of the silencer.

For shotguns you unlock the grip at 50 kills and nothing else.

Expert
You need head shots to get through these ranks (You can tell if you get a headshot by a 'DING!' sound playing and a red crosshairs with your name next to it appearing in the lower left corner in the kills info box). Level 1 will take 25 head shots. Level 2 will be done after 75 dome shots. Your done with level 3 after 150 headshots. These unlock the new camouflage patterns for your guns.

Digital Camouflage: (25 headshots): gray, blocky micropattern camo good in concrete-filled maps
Blue Tiger Camouflage: (75 headshots): blue and dark gray tigerstriped camo.
Red Tiger Camouflage: (150 headshots): red and dark gray tigerstriped camo.
Gold: Available for the AK-47, Mini-Uzi, M60E4, M1014, and Dragunov when you complete all Marksman and Expert challenges for every gun in their respective classes.

When I was looking on the stats screen I could see my total kills, where do you see how many kills you have with each weapon?

iron cross Skopion or Uzi

Never under estimate the mighty Skorpion, seriously under-rated weapon it has practically zero recoil. Just tears through ammo, Bandolier is a must. The Uzi however is woefully unstable on full auto.

Don't worry, little do many people know but I have a permanant infraction stamped on my account forever.

As for ratios, mines currently on 2.2 and still rising steadily when I do play. I have about 6 days total time I believe but this was my first shooter on PS3, and first in about 18 months to.

You'll get used to the team games if you stick at them, and they're generally much more interesting and once you get used to distinguishing the maps layouts you won't be shooting your own team (not that it matters when you're not in hardcore anyway which you might not even have unlocked). I do suggest having an experienced buddy along with you though, just so they can give you tips and what not, not to 'babysit' you during the match as often trying to take lessons mid firefight results in death due to the pace the game moves. Headsets are of course preferable for this as it's instant and you can take tips and/or orders on the fly rather then text chat, text chat will still do though as they can still point out specific moments of good or bad play.

Got a headset. I think it's learning maps as well. I have no idea where I'm going most of the time, vantage points, MG positions, etc. Just had one free for all in a village, with a warehouse, you get spawned in to some tunnels a lot of time. Enjoyable, came 5th, 10 kills. Not too shabby. Annoying with the headsets as all I could hear was French...
