Got a headset. I think it's learning maps as well. I have no idea where I'm going most of the time, vantage points, MG positions, etc. Just had one free for all in a village, with a warehouse, you get spawned in to some tunnels a lot of time. Enjoyable, came 5th, 10 kills. Not too shabby. Annoying with the headsets as all I could hear was French...

Yea just get with someone you know, mute everyone except them and head for team games. You can't really learn the maps well on Free for all because everyone gets spread out and you won't learn specific areas of importance like team spawns.

Just spent a bit of time with Cracker in a team game, improving. Still think my guns seem ****, ridiculously so. I 'spose the fact I haven't really played a FPS since COD3 on the PS2, 2 years ago hasn't helped.

Warehouses and tunnels sounds like Pipeline, was it a washed out grey colour with some train tracks? Watch out for people on the roof of warehouse 1 on that map!

@ breakpoint: I was just about to suggest that aswell.

I also mute people with loud mics with tonnes of static or music playing. Otherwise there is no reason to mute them, you can talk to them somewhat and ask where they are at etc. I'ts so much easier to play with a friend who has a mic though.

If im playing with one of my mates then i have a mic on and we are just in a private convo. Its funny when we are on opposite sides because we both will tell each other things like, oh theres some idiot camping there or X that keeps sniping you is there etc. Whats bad is we know each others tactics and such so we end up killing each other a good bit.

Wow, once you get some better guns you can experiment alot more and have much more fun. Once you start prestiging if you do, the players become much harder to play and it can be more strategic which is also alot of fun.

You know, I hear you guys hating on campers. I do end up on the receiving end, from time to time. I guess what I don't understand is how everybody generalize "campers". If anybody who camps is a camper, then I think it's safe to say that just about everybody who plays CoD4 is a camper. I'm just so tired of "campers" calling other campers, "campers". Maybe the guy you accused of camping actually camps less than you?

Again, by my observation, just about everybody camps here & there. If you tell me that you are not one of those people, I'd say that you are lying, or you are superstar. probably not a superstar

I think I have payed out "campers" about once or twice but I cannot hide the true fact that I starting playing this game camping with an Acog'd M60E4 at the top of any building with claymores behind me. I got my 16 kill streak camping in a corner on bog with claymores around me, I was using the Acog'd M60E4 and just picked off anyone who was in my sight.

So TBH, if I ever whine about campers, I was one at some time too. A very very bad camper (but I was good at it).

I tend to gun and move after a few kills, camping in spurts i guess. I call it tactics. I hate it when people kill me from the same spot over and over, now thats camping. Why don't i just kill them if i know where they are you say? I never expect them to stay there and then for some reason it always happens when i have horrible connection and they kill me before i even see them cause of lag...

I wouldnt even call it camping in spurts. I think most of the players that play do that sort of thing. I do it and wouldnt like to be called a camper for picking up two to three kills in that one spot.

Interesting points. I've had these conversations before, and you could never clearly define camping. So many different definitions. And like I said before, a player you called a camper might actually camp less than you, because so much of the game can be considered camping. I've heard claims that sniping is technically camping, too. You would think "WTF", but when you are staying hidden in one spot for a bit, claymores protecting you, I can see where they are coming from.

And breakpoint(or LEGION, I know you as!), if somebody's killing you from the same spot over & over, camping is beside the point. When that happens to me, only person I want to kick is myself! I usually pay a return visit with a cooked frag in my hand.

I'd define camping as someone who stays in one particular area which gains no tactical advantage for their team and is there purely on the basis of kills. E.g. Snipers who sit on the stone bridge side of Overgrown next to the small metal fence in a Domination game just getting kills and not helping with the actual flag captures, this to me is camping. Especially as the only people they kill are campers on the other side by the wood bridge sniping trying to do the same thing. They end up killing each other, returning to the same spot or similar and repeating for sometimes entire games and have no effect on either teams victory. Then an example of what could be seen as camping but really isn't and is actually holding a tactical vantage would be Crash, the 3 story building which provides a great vantage point of a large area. It's worth holding this area if possible as you can really dial down a good portion of the map and control the other team a bit more.

The problem is when I say camper I just mean those folk just camping for themselves and not really providing any help for the team at all e.g. Pipelines hill on the one side overlooking the main street, this is good camping if the objective is say Sabotage, you can cover your own base well but if your team has the bomb you should be moving to support or you're just useless unless they try to go down that middle street with the bomb. Which is unlikely and stupid to say the least.

I think the line is drawn when for instance a bomb is being planted and the possible camper just keeps going for kills ignoring the objective completely. I will stay in some areas if it provides a good point of control on the map, so you can cover the enemies route and force them other directions or through me. However I will always been on the look-out for the other teams movements and react accordingly, which may be as simple as looking out a different direction from the same building, or sprinting half way around the map to a new point. Alot of people would see me as camping and I just don't care because I know I'm getting it done, and when the time comes to attack I'll be ready to support or lead the assault to say plant the bomb on Sabo.

That whole post is full of truth. I just hate the worst kind of camper in S and D, where they have been in one building the whole match in say chinatown for instance, there is 1 or 2 enemies left and they are too scared to go out and instead sit in that building untill 20 seconds and see what they can do then, by then the whole team is telling this guy to hurry up and win but we obviously lose.

Those are the people that get to me.

I used to hate campers, but I realized its part of the game and more realistic then run and gun. Im still a run and gunner but I respect campers more now, exept those who just sit in one spot the whole game! A good camper is one who defend a bigger area and not just the tiny spot he sit on.

Left trigger (or maybe L1 if you're on normal controls) throws a C4 IIRC and then you can double tap square when running with your gun to detonate them without equiping the detonator again. However C4 is pretty difficult to use because you have to watch where the C4 is, although placing them on cars can be useful but claymores are generally better. However one great C4 trick is when defending on SnD, place C4 just underneath the actual plant point of boxes, one either side for coverage, and then as the guy plants the bomb, as soon as it's planted blow the C4. This means you can get the defuse for an easy win and helps you if you end up as the last man standing as you get an easy kill.

Drag do you use the triggers? I use the triggers also but I dont know anyone else who does.

I used the triggers when I used to play the PS3 version. Only because by default on Xbox it's the triggers.

Like drag said, hit right on d pad then just hit the left trigger and it tosses the c4. Another thing to do with C4 is to throw it on a wall or somewhere that people are allot and you can see it from cover and just use that sniper rifle to shoot the C4 when someone is near it and boom:tup: Thats always fun:tup:
