I came 4th \o/ 9 kills, with my first 1 k:d ratio. Yeah!

ha, good job. its weird how many people have player or are playing cod4 and you just started now. but i guess better late than never on a game as good as it. prob makes it a little harder on you though considering the people playing it now are all veterans at it mostly.

Almost, huh? Where do you live? :sly:

Well the problem wouldn't exist if someone wasn't commiting the crime right? Some of those crims obviously have an extremely twisted mind and think it's ok.

Anyyywaaay back on topic. I'd say the main points of the AK74u V P90 discussion, the P90 is accurate and fires extremely fast, however the 74u offers alot more power but some recoil to match. In good hands the 74u will be better at range because of this power but up close or from the hip the mighty P90 fire rate will rip through anything in anyones hands. I still prefer the MP5 to both though, the P90 feels far to easy to use for me, and I like the MP5 appearance, particularly when silenced. MP5 also comes with very clear sights but kinda sucks for taking down targets at range (except in Hardcore modes). Decent accuracy, decent power, decent fire rate, decent everything for an SMG which is why I use it, the balance is just right for me.

Oh and you get to pretend you're a mad tyte special forces operative yo.

I really like the M16A4 because the accuracy is just sweet and all it takes is that one pull of the trigger for a 3 round burst which kills with just that one pull, well if they don't have jugg on that is.

I was discussing this last night with a friend because whenever I use the M16 it takes at least 2 pulls of the trigger to kill anyone, juggernaught or not. The first burst only ever does damage! The other player can be stood still and I'll pull that trigger, the 3 round burst will damage them and then I'll have to pull it again to put them down :(

Makes it more fun. 👍 Beating people who are on level 55, that is.

Stopping power is the key to making this weapon an absolute beast. It will lead to many a kill one the first burst with the weapon which makes it extremely useful across all ranges, it's not even half bad from the hip at near pointblank.

I always have Stopping Power as a perk, no matter what the weapon. It still doesn't seem to work

Anyway, I'm on level 5 again now (flew through level 55 thanks to G.T ) so can finally use my AK47 with a fairly decent set up. I do miss my 3 frag grenades and my M4 though :(

I use Ak74U with silencer, uav jam, and dead silence for my "ninja" weapon slot. I was using the P90 but I just can't hit a target very well with it and it seems to take 20 bullets to take anyone down with a silencer on it. The 74U tends to take them down pretty quick, just not very good range...

The AK74U is a nice gun, a very nice gun indeed! I use it in both run-n-gun and CQC situations. I occasionally use it in a ghost setup, it all depends on the ranging of the map. A close map, is better than one with wide open spaces.

20 rounds to take down a guy with the P90? I take it you don't play hardcore then! :sly:

On a clan PSN I use a M4 silenced,1911 silenced, 3frag, UAV jam, and dead silence.
Im level 5 on my GTP account.

Very nice setup pal! I occasionally use a silenced M4 on busy maps, as it has an advantage over the M16 in very tight situations, though damage and range are not as good. I also like the gun because it has similar sights to the M16, which is a good thing!

Why do you not use claymores? I find that claymores are essential in hardcore mode because you cannot always see what is happening, like you can in the other 'noobie' modes. I use claymores for a number of purposes too. For perimiter defence, when I play zones, anti-sniper tactics, and more recently, as sensors to track runners-n-gunners.

Saying that though, if I feel like walking the map, 3 frags are damn handy! 👍

You are a true warrior too, Dead silence proves that!

You would be surprised how many kills I get JUST from listening to players movements. If you have very good hearing you can make out a multitude of sounds. Players climbing ladders, planting claymores, changing magazines etc. I'm sure you can even hear the 'rain' when you stand underneath a chopper and the spent shell cartridges fall to the floor!

IW have to be praised for adding so many different levels of detail to the game, its phenomenal!

I take it you don't play hardcore then! Either that or your a lousy shot! :sly: On hardcore, the M16 is THE gun for accuracy and damage. One burst to the upper chest region, and the player goes down every time.

I know what your saying though. The other night I popped into a ground war session, and could not register a kill where I could in hardcore mode. It didn't take me long to realise that it was because of the 'noobified' damage system in that game mode was cramping my kill streak!

Another gun that really shines in hardcore mode, but I doubt gets much play in any other mode is the M14. I lOve this gun, its powerful, accurate, and pretty damn portable too - It feels to me, to be somewhere between an M16 and a sub-machine gun. If you play hardcore, you should give it a try. 👍

I've started using 'stock' guns recently (no attachments) to give myself that extra challenge, the AK47 proved particularly effective, in all modes it's a fun weapon to use, some recoil on it but easy to manage with bursts, my first game with it (sabotage pipeline) landed me 43 kills for 14 deaths with a poor team (who eventually lost) on my side. I was only one of 2 players to have more kills then deaths, the other had 22-19.

I don't do any worse or better in HC or normal to be honest. I just swap stopping power for UAV jammer and away I go.

I love the M14! It's great at long range as long as you let the recoil settle down fully before firing your next shot, and at close range you just fire from the hip aiming towards their lower body and the recoil runs the shots up the body, usually to the head. 👍

Sorry I didnt mean 3 frag, but rather the one that lets you seek out claymores. I chose the M4 after using the M16 quite well but lacking in closer combat. I do listen and I have proven to myself that having a TV on in my house besides the one I'm playing at impedes me from owning as bad as if it were completely silent. I havent heard "rain" yet but will see.

Yeah it for sure sprays but it sprays so fast and the recoil is just horrible so i usually dance around my target with it. Its all personal pref really. My playing style tends to be more about accuracy with hits in vital areas and not pray and spray type weapons.
Well, I love M16, too. Who doesn't? But like I think Drag touched on it, it's a super easy gun to use. I don't even notice the recoil(I have a silencer on), unless I'm shooting across the field or something. I think it's just a matter of getting the hang of it.

Holy cow, that would be the whole point for me! And you nearly made me throw up with that 'stock gun' for extra challenge thing. Just about anytime I get on, it's a challenge for me.

I will give you that I was able to finish a game 14-0 last night with a (pickup)MP5 saving my ass on the last kill. I hadn't had a perfect game in a while. That was sweet. :p

There's something wrong. Hardcore or normal, it should take just a three burst to take somebody down with an M16. My advice would be to start aiming for the chest.

I tried using M14 in the regular mode. I wanted to get a silencer for it, so bad. I thought it would be so cool to get a silencer on a gun with so much stopping power. I finally get it, and I couldn't get it to work for me at all. I suck with semi-autos. They are really cool with ACOG, too. I've racked up something like 30, 40 days on this game, and I've seen it(picked it up) like just once!

Are you sure that the entire burst is hitting them? And if so it all depends where you hit them if it takes them down. So if you hit them in a critical area like in the chest then they go down, but if you hit them in the crotch area like upper legs and all then they need another bullet or 2.

Along with that great racing game, still no realistic damage. I really crack myself up.

I'm probably gonna get on for the first time in a loooooong while.

Yeah! Free-for-all in the town map (good explanation, it has an outside open market), 16 kills, 7 deaths. 5 kill streak. Felt good, that did. :D

Chinatown? Strike?

Possibly District.

Ugh, I keep getting strike and district mixed up, district is also a possibility.

Looking at youtube, it's District. Not done Chinatown yet, or at least not from the looks of the video I saw.

Don't worry, I'm not one of these guys who thinks people who use X gun is a noob, but to give you an idea why I avoid the P90, I picked one up during a the Pipeline game with my AK it only came with one clip and I killed 4 guys in less then 10 seconds with it when I unleashed it as the other team attempt a bomb plant. Infact most of my deaths were caused by trying to plant the bomb completely solo as my team were so incompetent that I felt I had to do it all myself. I do hate when a team defends right on their own base and won't attempt any kind of forward movement and ironically when they did, due to there general lack of skill they were all taken down bar myself and one other, we lost the bomb and that resulted in the plant which won the other team the game. I myself managed to take out a couple of enemies on the way to a defuse attempt, but was ended by a grenade with 10 seconds left on the timer. Stupidly, my team had gathered around me as I was already defusing the bomb, so 3 of us went down from the 1 grenade.

I still keep a class with a red dot M16 ready, just incase I get in a very close game so I can sway the battle in my teams favour as best as I possibly can.

I hate people who skip Wetwork, going "skeep skeep skeep skeep skeep" down their headset, only to then quit because the next map isn't one of their one favourites.

I like Wetwork and wouldn't mind playing it once in a while.

Can't say I'm a fan of Wetwork but I don't mind playing it, it's just a bit narrow which makes it far to easy for random grenades, spawn snipers and the like to slaughter you. It's also terrible for Sabotage if one team grabs the bomb and runs back to their own spawn, it's basically impossible to get it back and then you just have to sit around for 20 minutes of nothingness before sudden death arises.

Aye, but this is HCTDM.

It's not the skipping it I don't like - everyone has their unfavoured maps (mine is Bloc).
It's not even the "skeep, skeep, skeep, skeep" - though that is pretty annoying.
It's both, combined with then quitting altogether when the next map turns out to be one they don't like either.

Just play the game, folks.

Chinatown is shockingly bad. As is Creek, really. Both of them have a severe lack of balanced scenery for TDMs. Whoever gets the upper level on Creek has basically instantly won.

As for skipping, I'll happily skip a map I don't like but if the game starts then I usually play through it unless I'm lagging like mad or something. I'm usually fairly good on Wet Work as my latest tactic is to run right up the center with an MP5 and Extreme Conditioning to attack them as fast as possible. It's the last thing they expect on that map and no grenades will get you as people tend to throw them to the left and right hand sides of the ship.

I take a similar tactic on Wetwork with a silenced MP5, stopping power or UAV jammer combined with bandolier and extreme conditioning. All of my set ups have bandolier though because I always find myself living a long time at points in a game and the last thing I need is to run out of ammo with my favoured weapon.

I also only leave a room if it or I am lagging making it impossible to play.

Not skipped a game yet, and never will. Just people taking it too seriously.

My new 'thing' is if I get slaughtered in the game by the other team, I get on the mic afterwards and say stuff like "Yeah, didn't expect that did ya?" and "I'm raining down the pain!" etc.

If they respond angrily I just say "At least my IQ is higher than your score"

I've got to the stage now where i don't hate any level. I did favour certain levels over others for a while, but they all have their pros and cons. I like Wetwork in some game modes (free-for-all especially) but others, like TDM just ends up with a granade fest where, unless you are sniping from either end of the ship, you just can't make any progress. Sometimes on Broadcast i'll have a game where i just always seem to be on the other side of the map to where the action is going on.

I usually just play TDM or MTDM with the odd F4A thrown in. I find that with the objection game modes, unless you play them all the time, it can take you ages to get into the frame of mind to playing them well. I enjoy it to when i get an invite to a HCTDM session, but again, it takes you a few games to get into the swing of things.

Broadcast is an excellent map for on-line fighting. Just played Chinatown, hectic map, I preferred it to some, I don't like the one with the big warehouse and the train carriages.
