Had some great games last night on FFA with Beerz, Stevisiov90, and Scaff (damn you and those claymores! ). It sure was fun. 👍 After the game ended though, I found it really hard to get back to you guys. I would get the invite, but every time I accepted, it said unable to connect to host.

Infinity Ward need to get this sorted asap! I can't even play with my pal from Alaska, he's gutted too, because all his clan mates are from the EU...

I've been playing Hardcore mode a lot lately. Damn that game mode is tough! My K/D took a bit of a beating, but I enjoyed the games none the less. I like how the guns you wouldn't normally use are very useful. Like the M14. I wouldn't use that in Ground War, but In Hardcore, its a killer! I have a nice m14/m21 setup that is really getting me places in that game mode.

I had a bizarre glitch earlier - for some reason the match would start with just me on my team. My team would all appear about a minute in - but it was a very interesting minute indeed.

LOL, that happened to me on an 18 man domination match once. I was the only guy there, so I captured all three flags. Suddenly, I heard the guy say we were losing a flag so I checked the scores page and there was only one guy there. I rushed over to the flag, and as I rounded the corner, I noticed that there were in fact 9 guys there! they must of all spawned after I checked the scores screen! Damn I wish I had used that invisibility perk!

Those were some fun matches, FFA is good fun with a bunch of people you know, glad you liked my Claymore's 👍. I try and keep them in 'unusual' places to make sure its a nice surprise; I did however manage to kill myself in one of the matches with one, planted it to leave and as I walked past it someone ran past me. They set off the Claymore, but I took the full blast.....doh.

You like the G36C? I loved it on the single player, but online I found it a bit crappy, way underpowered. Seems to take forever to finish someone off.

But I'm still thinking about last night's matches, they were just awesome. I was bummed my headset wasn't working, and I didn't want to leave the game to fix it or I might've not be able to join you guys when I got back.
It's also a real shame seeing the other GTP members online and not being able to play with them because they're in the US, hope the patch comes soon for EU too, then it will rock.

I was playing a team deathmatch game with beerz, (I think scaff joined for a round also) I had just unlocked the G6 (I think) its staggeringly good at long range its only fires one shot at a time, but I prefere that to spraying bullets everywhere. The range and accuracy is so good that I sniped someone right down the street in crossfire in three shots. I can't wait to unlock the scope for it, as I can imagine it will be a great combination. I enjoyed using the M4 earlier in the GTP free-for-all but it is not as good.

I went from level 23 to level 29 yesterday, its a while to go before I can unlock the G36, is it a better rifle?

The G36C needs the Stopping Power perk to make it worthwhile, but I have found it quite a nice gun. The RDS is a must for it and at longer range it does suffer a bit, but up close on Pipeline it was only a short burst that got me that 75th kill. I will stick with it until I get the points for the 150th kill with it, not sure if it will be a regular after that.

I think you mean the G3, which is single shot, it a good gun on the right map. At long range it has amazing power and accuracy (I know Beerz has used it a bit), but in a small and/or enclosed space I find it bit too slow.

The G3 and G36 are almost totally different weapons, I quite like both, but that's the nice thing about COD4. All the weapons have strengthes and weakness' and picking the right combo for a map (or changing it at the right time during a match) can make all the difference.

There are a couple of great sub-auto's. My favourite is the AK74u - its basically a hand held AK47, it rivals that gun in every respect (including recoil), but it is a smidgen more powerful. I use the AK74u all the time in CQC, it would be great on Vacant.

BTW, last night you were spot on with that ACOG'd SAW. I was struggling to get a hit on you with my RPD. Think my gun's slower rate-of-fire was hurting me a little. 👍 Still good games though. 👍

Stevisiov90 - Like Scaff said, it's the G3. I really love it. You can fire with it as fast as you can tap the R1 button, and still the aim's always perfect. I prefer it with the RDS instead of the ACOG, which wobbles. With the RDS it doesn't budge, unlike the M4, which I find excellent... until I try to shoot someone at long range.
With the G3+RDS, I can almost pick which eye to pop on the guy across the map, even on Pipeline.
It's only not recommended for really close combat, but even on a map like Ambush, I've already got a 28-10, using only the G3. Because of it's accuracy, headshots become much easier at mid-range, 2 bullets do the trick. 👍
BTW, on the match on Strike last night, were you listening to my 'conversation' with that guy? What the hell was that?!...
He was like: "where you from?", "you play good", "you from America?", "are you fat?"... Then he spent the rest of the match following me like a freakin' shadow. He said: "I'm guarding your back". What the...?

And I forgot the best part; he actually sent me a buddy request after that match. Now, weird is an understatement...

On the MP5, I really love it.
In fact, last night I was using the MP5 on all the matches we did (except the Pipeline, where I started with the newly-unlocked M4 but had to change to the still grip-less RPD). Hell, I even used the MP5 on Countdown and did pretty well there.

And it's official; along with worst sniper, I also get the title to worst stabber. Mostly because while on a face to face, I start shooting instead of pressing R3, Stevisiov got me countless times last night on that exact situation, he knifed me (as he should) and I was dead before remembering I'm carrying a knife...

the knife is my favorite weapon, I sometimes get killed because I charge at an opponent with a knife from across the street instead of shooting at them. Its also my favorite way of disposing of snipers who camp out in buildings.

He's in Prestige Mode - once you get to Lv55 you can trade everything in and start again from the bottom. You get a badge. You can do it 10 times, for different badges.

I love this game but i think i'm a bit crap at it, after 5 hrs of play my K/D is only .45 and i'm only at lv 13. And my average score during a match is usually only about 70!

Heh, heh I’m right there with you GT4G. Although I can feel your pain, most of the active posters on this forum are better described as “distributors of pain” (would make a great Metallica song that ) When I first started I was around a 0.3 K/D ratio, but I’ve worked pretty hard since to improve that to a 0.56 K/D ratio (I’m around level 22 now). I suppose a reasonable goal for a REMF like myself is probably something a little north of 1.0. Then again you may have more natural skills at FPS’s and may have a much higher attainable plateau.

Actually come to think of it &#8220;distributor of pain&#8221; is a lyric in Metallica&#8217;s &#8230;And Justice for All song &#8220;Harvester of Sorrow.&#8221; Once IW and SCEE get this whole patch business sorted we should have a GTP-Harvester of Sorrow deathmatch. Wonder who the most prolific Harvester would be <rubs chin>

I have a problem that occurs so often it is really annoying I have a tendency to aim my weapon to shoot someone and my thumb somehow presses down on the right analogue and instead of shooting them it swipes the knife out .. I have done this so many times in many matches it is infuriating ... out flicks the knife to dispose of an enemy a good 15 yards away and they simply shoot me and thats it

also my left analogue is that used to being pressed forward it does it on its own now and i have to make sure I dont walk into the line of fire so many times by pulling back

Its a wicked game for sure but these little faults I have drive me insane I will still go back for more though

I used to do this! It was when I paniced and tensed my thumb... Ended the same way you described.

I think you did that in the Domination match the other day, near flag A. I know you saw me, but I still got the drop on you.

Then you need to use the tactical button setup mate! It swaps the knife from R3 onto the circle button, and your stance from circle to R3. as far as I am aware no other button functions are different.

I've never used the standard button setup. I thought the tactical setup was far superior as all the movement functions (except jump) were conveniently on both analogue sticks. Swap to tactical, and you will benefit in many ways. 👍

edit:I just tested the tactical set up in a private match with no players to see how it is! damn this feels like the perfect set up already 👍 running and slicing should be so easy now and the double tap to go flat on the floor is gone with a simple longer press on the analogue stick .. I dont know why I never thought to configure it myself but the suggestion is much appreciated and look forward to going on a rampage asap

EU Connectivity Patch

Hey Everyone --

I know there are a lot of questions of whats happening with the EU (rest of the world) connectivity patch for the PS3 and I wanted to let you know what's happening.

Essentially SCEA (Sony of America) and SCEE (Sony Europe) have two completely separate certification processes, policies, rules, and requirements. Essentially they're going through two separate companies despite them both being Sony. The reason the patch has only come out in the US is because it passed Sony America (SCEA) certification and they allowed it to be released.

The patch that has to go through Sony Europe (SCEE) hasn't gotten approved by Sony Europe yet, and it's looking like will have to be rolled into the feature patch coming to the PS3. So essentially, you all know there we're two patches coming for the PS3, the first being the connectivity patch, and the 2nd being the feature patch (i.e. Kill cams additions and others) same as the Xbox 360 (with a few slight platform specific differences). That is what's happening in the US, but regretfully due to the delay with Sony Europe and the different requirements with certification that will all be one big patch for Europe and the rest of the world instead of two separate ones like in the US.

You will ALL get the same patches / changes eventually, just not as two separate patches like the US. Despite them all being the same patch. Everything we could do has been done, right now it's just a matter of going through the proper channels of certification.

Once the patch is released in every region (probably after Holiday break) then you'll be able to connect with your overseas friends again, the only reason you cannot at this moment is because Patched versions cannot play with unpatched versions.

We've been working to see if it can be pushed through Sony Europe (SCEE) any faster and if it's possible I guarantee you we'll make it happen, but other than that there's nothing we can do. Especially seeing as most people are on Holiday break, but I'm looking at all our options.
