I sent messages to some of you guys last night on the PS3 because I tried to join your games from invites and always got an error....

Basically I have a US copy of the game running on a HK system, does that mean I can't play with UK players?

Oh and thanks for the gun tips Beerz :)

Stevisiov - Great! Can't wait to talk to you. Were you understanding what I was saying today? :)

Perfectly fine, its annoying not being able to talk back though.

Well, can't get into a freaking match ever since that one with Famine and Stevisiov on Ambush. I'm both tired and extremely pissed, so I'm going to bed and read a bit before going to sleep (it calms the animal in me - it's a xenomorph, btw).

I consider myself luck I got into 4 matches, three of them where at overgrown though:ouch:. The other one being ambush when I played against you, and Famine was on my team.

As far as powerful weapons I'd have to pick the Barrett although the guns usage is limited it just commands peoples attention when they get hit by one or even hear it. Everytime i've only wounded someone they've bolted for cover and never came out again. Plus it just sounds deadly.

Just two or three levels away from unlocking the Barret 50. cal, cannot wait, I mugged a player of his red camo Barret and used it to get a helicopter out, when people approched I just switched to the desert Eagle. I ran out of ammo for it though, great gun helped me get a 13 streak.

I agree that the Barrett is the most powerful weapon in the game, it is a .50 cal bullet and if hit with that you are pretty much bound to lose whatever it was that was hit (arm, leg, stomach etc...) you would definately die with one shot in real life. It also sounds really deadly although the sound it makes is alot louder and brutaler (word?) for you than other people, even if they are right near you. If you walk by someone sniping with it, it doesn't sound nearly as loud, which is a mistake in my opinion as you would hear that from miles away.

On the contrary I can distinctly hear the gun in a match, which ussually prompts me to try and steal it off my opponent. :D The sounds very unique and powerful even when it is not you firing.
Err...

How come the top people have more than 100% accuracy and negative scores in their "misses" column?

I wondered how that is possible myself.

Wow. I played a HQ match on shipment finally. That was quite a bit of fun. I got 50 kills or so, which sounds like a lot, but the leader had over 100. It was complete and utter chaos.

The G3 is awesome. I love it. But I dont use it very often. Also, the P90 is good, but it seems very inaccurate to me.

Well there's certainly maps where a semi-automatic gun shines over a fully automatic weapon but I still don't like the G3 in this case. I'd choose the M14 over it, alot more stopping power in my opinion. I had high hopes for this weapon but once I found out it was semi-automatic I was already disappointed because the only other time I've used a G3 was in Battlefield 2 and that came in both the Full auto and semi-auto mode but it was absolutely devastating at close to medium range in full auto. I also had that trigger issue when I was leveling it so maybe i'll give it another try with an RDS or ACOG.

I find the G3 exellent, 2 shot kill normally, practically no recol makes it the most efficient long range killer beside perhaps sniper rifles, but I prefare it to snipers myself. It falls short at close range because I don't have the quickest trigger finger and find quite a slow fire rate makes is lacking in CQC. You can easily get away with using it with the silencer as the iron sights are very good.

I tried the M14 last night and must say I hated it, I am waiting until I unlock the RDS before I give it my final judgment, on a side note I never use the ACOG scope, infact if I am honest Iron sights are perfect for most guns.

I suspect I'll be utilising the P90 by then. And shooting Replicators.

The P90 is a brilliant gun, on maps like ambush, vacant you will devestate your opponents, it has a large clip aswell so you don't have to worry about its immense fire rate. Its lacks accuracy at really long ranges but is surprisingly good at medium range for a sub machine gun. I even used it effectively on district, countdown, strike, until I decided RDS and Grip has the range advantage.

I agree that it does have its own unique firing sound and if I hear a shot fired from it I know right away, "Oh thats a Barrett" but I was just saying that I think that the sound should be like almost deafening because it is so powerful.

Err, wow. I managed to knife 3 people with one stab earlier today. It was really weird and my teamates were amazed... :odd:

Like you'd hear that buzz as when you're 'nade-flashed' and needed some time to recover?

I'm having trouble finding games (as usual at night). When I do, I invite anyone I see online in case they're rotting waiting for one.
Can anyone on a match send me invites? It sucks waiting forever to play one match or two, and the game lobby closing.

Pako - I got your invites and sent you some too, because I was playing with Famine and amar.

BTW, great matches guys. Too bad I was on the losing side...
I was doing awesome on Overgrown, but out of nowhere it started lagging and I couldn't hit half the shots.

Just ran a horrible match, the most unfair team the computer could make made the team deathmatch an dying spree. The enemy UAV must have been nunning the whole game and helicopters patrolled the sky the half the match, I got a fair amount of kills, but murdered so many times, often from the damn helicopters.

It was fun though :D

[edit] Much better game 39-4

Choppers like me best, they kill me a bunch of times.

Planes also like me; if an enemy airstrike only kills one guy of my team, chances are it was me. :D

Stevisiov - I still don't understand why people that are invited to matches don't get to stay on the same team as the guy that sent the invite. It happens more often than not...

Ussually if the party is assembled before trying to join a match, everyone stays on the same team, but if you invite while counting dwon to a game, it throws them on any team. I just have no idea how the computer picks the teams, that one at downpour seemed to be the lowest rank people versus the highest rank people.

I had a good match afterwards anyway.

Yep nasty lag for me tonight as well (pain as I am away with work Wednesday and Thursday night), still had one descent match (FFA on Overgrown) as I've started to level up a LMG (your favorite one Beerz). Now I just have to get out of the habit of reloading every other kills (too much P90 use and its become second nature).

Yeah, those were pretty unbalanced. I can't help but to laugh when I'm on the lobby waiting for the match to start (along with some more people) and it says it's waiting for more players to balance the teams, and then puts all the top players on the same team.
Guess 'balance' doesn't mean the same for everyone.

Hey! Good to see some love for the G3 on some of the posts above!

Speaking of which, am I the only one thinking that silencers reduce each weapon's power? Seriously.

EDIT:
Scaff - It'll serve you well, young grasshopper.
As soon as you can, slap in the foregrip and you'll have one of the (if not the most) versatile weapons on this game. 👍

I tried the G3 with a silencer and the UAV Jammer and it transforms a wonderful gun into a useless hunk of junk that can't stop anything at a distance. Main culprit I believe is the silencer, seriously disappointed in this combo at range so I've gone back to the G3 with RDS and Stopping Power.

For some reason the M16 doesn't seem to have its power reduced as much by the silencer, I use an M16 with the silencer and UAV Jammer (so no stopping power) and its a great combo.

I do believe that the power and range are reduced by the silencer but then again I could be wrong. Am I the only one who wants to play more overgrown matches? Almost anytime I am waiting for the Overgrown match people are saying, "Vote, vote, this map sucks." etc... I love Overgrown, it is one of the few maps that you can actually utilize the ghilley(sp?) suit.

Count me as a fan of Overgrown as well, I just love the variations in height you can get, as well as the differing terrain. I just love getting up high and taking people out from a distance (not with a sniper rifle - but that may change following the update).

I would have to list it as one of my favourites, along with Bloc, Downpour and Crash. The map I least like is Bog, its just too flat and the most like a traditional FPS map.

I also have a huge soft spot for Shipment if its a Headquarters match, I just love the chaos and challenge of actually taking the HQ (my K/D ratio does suffer a lot as a result).

I totally agree, The different buildings you can go in, the river/ditch seperating the two halves, you can go in the old gas station, the farm, hide in trees/grass, there are so many places that are great whether you are someone who likes to Run & Gun(me most of time) or a Sniper (also me). I think it is a map that you either like alot or don't really like it at all, but it is one of my favourite.

My other favourite maps would be Bloc, Downpour, Crossfire, and Shipment. I also do quite well at Strike but it isn't necessarily one of my faourite matches I just take advantage of different spots.

Definately most disliked map is Bog, too boring for me, and it seems like everything is kinda cluddered together in some spots of that map.

Yeah, I was using the G3 (best iron sight of all, IMO) with a silencer for a while, but took it out and went back to the RDS, as it's great stopping power was severely undermined by it.
Maybe some weapons are affected more than others, but it definitely hurts them all. At longer ranges you have to aim slighly higher, and the damage inflicted is always smaller, no matter the distance.
The M16 also gets worse, as the number of times you need a 2nd burst to finish killing someone increases dramatically.

Err, wow. I managed to knife 3 people with one stab earlier today. It was really weird and my teamates were amazed... :odd:

That is quite amazing haha! But I bit the bullet and finally went into prestige. It was late last night so I could only do one round but in one round I got to level 4 already. :p

EDIT: I can safely say I regret doing it too. This will be the last time I do it.

Put me down for a 👍 on overgrown too. I really haven't played there a whole lot, but every time I do I enjoy it. It just feels right and I agree the elevation changes must be a big part of that.

Here's another knife story from the weird department. I was attempting to knife someone climbing over an obstacle and I thought I got him as the successful knife animation was displayed (meaning not the standard swipe at air, but the downward stab and retract). So for a very brief moment I'm thinking to myself that was pretty cool but then lo and behold there goes my target sprinting away with nary a scratch? :odd:

Hey and I think I am almost getting competent now; I'm up to a 0.66 K/D) started at 0.28), up to 12.2% accuracy (started around 8.5%) and have a 15 kill streak (thank you mr helicopter gunner :D) Little victories, little victories...

Edit-----

Just saw this on the IW PS3 forum (sounds like they are finally starting to take us PS3 owners more seriously, so that's good to see):

Back @ Studio: Updates on the way

Hey Everyone --

As you know everyone is back at the studio in force as of today and the day has been full of discussion regarding the PS3 version. This isn't an update thread, but a heads up to an update coming. I'm going to have an update for you in the near future (probably tomorrow) regarding the server issues you may have experienced over the holiday break while attempting to play online in Call of Duty 4 PS3; this update should give you all the background information on the issue and some fixes that should be going into effect.

Essentially, today we're getting everything in order for this, so that I can update you tomorrow and keep you dialed in to exactly what's happened, happening, and coming.

Let me know if you have any questions, now that we're all back in the studio keeping on top of this and most importantly steady responses back to all of you will be greatly improved.

and a follow up later on:

Any DLC (which none has been announced) would come via a patch of the game from us here at Infinity Ward. The update we'll be talking about tomorrow is Server-side only, and won't need to be downloaded and doesn't effect the game code at all. It's purely server-side by Demonware. More details tomorrow.

Thats great news 👍 I sat in the trying to connect to players lobby for over 1 hour last night before I gave in and went to bed to watch a movie  I think we have had our fair share of bad connectivity and hopefully its all gonna be a thing of the past!

We live in hope I guess :dopey:

Good games yesterday, it was fun. You should have been on our side Beerz, I agree.

Have finaly finished with G3 leveling, and finally got my hold on it. Will see what I've learned when I hit Presige though.

Also, I've lost all my nervs on some Ground War matches I've been playing with my mate - all people on GW are using LMG's and Juggernaut. It just make no sense at all.

Also, more and more people I meet/shot at are actually using Jaggernaut. Disgrace. Shame. Travesty. Sodoma and Gomora. Noobing. Cowards. Babies. Girls. Whatever.

I used a silenced G3 all the time. I've never needed more than three shots to down someone, even window-to-window at Crash.

On the stats, the silencer doesn't affect the damage, but it does reduce the range.

Incidentally, I have a Jabra BT150 headset... What the smeg do I do with it to get it to work with the game?

Is there a particular reason why you like the silencer on your weapons? Just a curious question do you want for it's use of keeping you off radar when you fire or is it just a novelty item that you like on the gun?

When I had the Uzi I just liked having the silencer on there because it sounded cool and because I thought it made it kick less.

Radar :D Most people can't see you unless you're a red blip.

People usually find me anyways just by luck. :grumpy: Man I regret doing this whole prestige thing really badly. I guess this just isn't my cup of tea starting all over again. I was spoiled with all those weapons at 55. Once I get to 55 on prestige 1 i'm staying there. I've been playing off and on today and i'm only level 10! I don't remember it being this difficult the first time around.

Keep leveling up the weapons and use the modes that give the most points

Have you registered it with your PS3? I'm away from my PS3 right now so I can't really be much more help.

I need to get a headset.

Yep. It's all paired up.

There's only four buttons on it. Surely it can't be that complex?

You would be amazed how many people only spot you if you are a red blip, myslef included. :D

Sit in the shadows and pop one in the back of their head. I have gone whole games without being shot at (except from by the damn helicopters) on overgrown lying on the top of my favotrite building shooting people on the bridge, people in the barn, people in the riviene, and people exiting the building I am sat ontop off, It seems no-one uses their kill cam either.
