I practiced a bit for the next manufacturers. I now remember why I skip all Seaside dailys.
That chicane is probably the worst corner complex in the game...especially with heavy damage.

@Alpha Cipher - Just how the discussion started.

Why dont you (and others with same issue) just press OPTIONS and RETRY?

That's what I've been doing, but after I put a bunch of practice laps in, RETRY clears my laps and gets rid of the split of my fastest lap. Plus I want to be sure I'm not missing something so come race time I'm not driving around damaged all race. But thanks for your solution.

Do the RSS tyres last for an out lap and a fast lap? Or is it better to use the RS tyres?
I got caught out in the Yamagiwa-Miyabi qualifying when my tyres were knackered about half way round the fast lap, so would rather try and avoid that.

As to the chicane, I think that all the FF cars have to lift briefly before turning in, otherwise they just understeer too much. I remember having similar issues at the Schumacher S at the Nurburgring GP track. Power and turning is a bad combination in FF cars.

RSS wear at the same rate as the RS tyres and it's a shorter lap so you shouldn't be too caught out. Best thing to do is take it easy on the outlap as well, burn a little fuel whilst you're at it and find some clean air.

Take it easy on the first lap and they'll be fine. Seaside isn't as hard on tires.
My current plan is to race on them both stints.

If anyone wants a bit of fun, I'm doing a poll on which Manufacturer I should choose if anyone wants to take part :p?

But where's all the underdogs :p

No one in their right mind slams the brakes through the bus stop though. In the worst case scenario maybe only 10% braking for a short moment in required to correct yourself, assuming that coasting isn't enough. Gr. 4 DTS has been so overused in both dailies and FiA races that the basic line is pretty much already ingrained into everyone's minds. Heck, some people can even go flat out already through that chicane. RMs and RSSs will just make that job way easier than it already is

Problem is when the driver ahead doesn't lift off on entry, but brakes on exit, like what gives?

That being said, perfecting that chicane with either slightly lifting off or not at all brings all the fun to that track:D

I've finally understood the RBR track limits for turn 1  i needed time for sure , even for the last race i did it thinking it was a kind of roulette

2 interior tires on red = OK

3 or more tires on white = penalty;

Even if you do pick up a penalty here as long as its not too large it drains completely during braking for the next corner. Insane.

This is going to be another crazy race. It probably makes sense to pit for tyres around half way through, though you could probably make it to the end on one set.

Alright, here's my view on last night's Nations :)

If anyone's wondering why I chose the Tomahawk, it's not because I found it fast or it's the meta or anything, it's because @darth_tails made a livery for me and I wanted to use it as soon as I can :D looks pretty good if you ask me :sly:

Thank you for that, I will have a look at the video after work today, sent you a separate PM to update you.

That’s normal during practice, it won’t be the case during the race.

Because it's the next race.
Don't worry about "daily" problems in the FiA races. Given your ranking, barely anyone would brake in the bus stop

If you select the time splits in the MFD and press MFD + (the button/dial you use to switch TC from 0 to 1), it will show a new menu called "Car Record" where the splits are saved even during separate sessions, as long as it's the same event and car

In the FiA races if you're, say, in the top 3-4 splits this is rarely a problem, if at all. I was talking about that problem in relation to SMinded's A+ ranking

At my level (low A+) I still see people lifting at the bus stop, either on entry or just before turn-in when exiting the chicane. Less braking, but still lots of lifting, which I'm sometimes guilty of too in-race. In fact, it wasn't until I was high A, approaching A+ that I finally got good enough to try it full throttle in-race. I always qualified like that before but wasn't consistent enough for the real thing until somewhat recently. Granted, I'm mostly referring to dailies, where I'm one of only a few A+ in each race at most, but I've also seen it in FIA races, but probably less since they are matched more equally due to number of players. It's just pretty risky, especially if there is dirty air anywhere near you. I am also paranoid when someone is behind me, that I'll mess up and clip the wall, forcing them to crash into me and ruining at least two peoples' race instead of just mine.

Why have I not noticed this before. :banghead:

You're not alone, @Alpha Cipher just blew my mind! Thanks man.

Lifting is still the norm through the bus stop. If anything it would be more sensible to do so in the race, since a no-lift is too risky
Like I said, if one needs to brake it's only a dab at the pedal for a quick moment, not a slam on the brakes :)

ahh, ok I gotcha. I agree. If you need to brake through there, you must have messed up the entry pretty good! Either that or just took a bad line once in there.

Next Manu race allows Super Softs, which currently wear at the same rate as the Softs yet go 1 second a lap faster

You are right, this should not be the case. Strange.

Manufacturers was fun, but strangely even though it was full of A+ drivers it was some of the more aggressive and clumsy driving I have seen in a FIA race. Got hit quite a few times by people just making bad moves from 2 or 3 car lengths back

I have seen those, sorry it happened.
Dont give up, gr3 should suit better for Peugeot.

Anyway, off to qualifying. Based from my limited practice beforehand I know that I can do 5 laps, 2 of which are flyers. However because I'm using RMs it would be more sensible to have your hotlap first and then the banker in the next flyer. So, that was the plan. Unfortunately I got held up behind by another driver on my hotlap so I wasn't able to extract my full potential in that qualifying.

Oh well, I'll just make it up in the race. And boy oh boy, make up in the race I did :D some lucky openings here and there, along with some overtakes myself, I found myself in 5th position! That's 6 places up from my quali, and honestly way above what I was expecting to see myself in
Oh man, now the pressure's building up. Sidawg, JayOTT, speedychicken, and Nik_Makozi are all behind me. I know they're much faster drivers, and I probably won't be able to defend from them if they catch up... only one thing to do. The only thing that has proven itself time and time again. The thing that people, even I, advise against.

Qualifying pace. Yes, once I had reached 4th position I made the risk to run as fast as I can, lap after lap, because I know full well that it's a bunch of aliens behind me. My qualifying pace can barely trump their race pace, and I know that they're smarter than me to not take the risk, so I ran as hard as I can. These RH tires are holding up really well, but I went for the safe option and did a one-stop for another set of RHs. I know RMs only last 4 laps at most before my laps fall apart, and it's Lap 6 of the race. I've never done a complete race distance simulation so I honestly don't know if my RHs can last all the way, hence the one-stop.

However, that pit cost me a bit too much time. gilles_honda_v12 and another guy caught up to me and relegated me back to 6th. The latter wasn't much of an issue except for their cornering speeds. It was really slow and I needed to quickly find a way past. Luckily T5 gave me that opportunity and after a quick nab for 5th I was down to chasing gilles.

2.3, 2.2, 2.1, 2.2... I was closely monitoring the gap between him and myself. I had the pace, I know I can chase him down. Lap 7, 8, 9... The laps rolled by as I'm on a desperate mission to chase him down. Lap 10, 1.0, 0.9, 0.8... I can do it...! But alas... my tires can only take me so far. I started pushing a bit too much and the Tomahawk felt unsafe. You did great Tomahawk, you did great :) thank you for the hard work, let's take that 5th home.

I'm honestly surprised that the Tomahawk is really great around here :D great race, great racing, and thank you for the spectacle everyone  I'm glad that I can take @darth_tails' special livery to a very high standing :)

You did well man, I was going as hard as I could after the pit stops and couldn't get near ya.

Bit late but here's my pretty fun race recovering from 13th to 3rd in Saturday's nations:

I accidentally left mediums but it turned out that was possibly a great strategy having qualified 13th as it allowed me to get past cars at the start quite quickly, and then I chose to pit on L5 for a one stop which was the ideal lap. Ended up only 1.5s behind the leader at the start of L10, but unfortunately the older tyres went off on the last lap and I had a battle with Calster + damage so the gap ended up at 5.5s :guilty:

Yes, that works for free practice but if this bug also occurs during races that’s not an option. I’d rather voice the issue in hopes that if enough people are having the same problem, the next released update will fix it.

It doesn't occur during races. The reason why you can't repair in pit stops because that's how pit stops work in general during free practice

Sure voice out where PD is wrong, that helps them, but complain where it's due.

So tried running the RSS tyres in a lobby last night, and you guys are right, you can do a slow lap (TC turned to 5) and then a decent quali on them before they expire.

Not sure what the race is going to be like though as all it took was a guy to hit the wall on the outside of the exit of the chicane (1st lap) in front of me to ruin my race. He hits the wall, bounces far enough across the road so I hit the back of him, and then the guy behind me hits me. I am assuming that 6 seconds repair is the maximum damage you can get? I had 6 seconds on suspension, aero and engine :)

Now to work out if it 2 stops or 1 stop. And then Pug power ftw!

The last time Gr.4 was at this track for the Manufacturer series I'm pretty sure the SLS, somehow, was the fastest (at least for the Asia/Oceania region). :/

But maybe it's fair to say that MR cars should be best here. There are plenty of corners that require sustained steering and if you want to get the fastest around those types of curvy stuff MR will be the drivetrain to beat. The front tyres just melt a bit too quickly on all other car types tbh. :(

Anyway, is there any stand out car for Gr.2 at RBR? I've been looking at the Nissan especially, the way it uses the soft compound in the Online TT is like it's almost on rails (and very unlike its' usual understeery self when you also use brake balance +1), but I haven't had the time lately to throw it into an open lobby so I'm open to suggestions. :)

On a side note, @mclarenLB, would you know when in October (my apologies for not asking earlier) the Asia/Oceania regionals are taking place? I'm particularly interested as to how close Nik_Makozi could be cutting it when it comes to the age restrictions regarding the event.

I checked the FIA standings before leaving for Europe and realized that this may be the only time ever I'll see this. It really must be an exhibition season!

I have no idea what changed at Dragon Trail, besides the track limits but I can't for the life of me make a decent time with my Aston Gr.4.

Last time I raced around here I wasn't so off the pace. :/

If any of you can reach the 1:42s or low 1:43s with a Gr.4 car, hats off. I did some laps and my best was a 1:44:4xx. That's 1,5sec off the top10, which I can't remember happening.

I feel like I can not drive around DT anymore. :dunce:

5th October if I'm remembering correctly
